What have you done to your car today?

Fixed my mystery knocking noise by zip tieing a loos exhaust hanger.

Did you say a little muddy

Geez Dulagarl, what happened ?
I hope everything else is ok with your Forry mate.

Great job with the clean up too I must say :)

Regards
Mr Turbo

Clutch got stuck engaged: motor was running but no power. Was in a mudhole having third attempt to get out. When I reversed for second and third attemopts, heaps of mud and dirt got scooped up by bashplate and in between clutch and flywheel. No inspection plate in place: must remedy that.

Car is getting box dropped and clutch / flywheel area cleaned. All OK it seems.

After my last water experience my clutch stopped working the next morning. Wouldn't disengage to let me put it in gear. I think mine was a result of the plates sticking together with rust or something from water and mud getting in there through the timing port.

If you work out the cause I would be very interested to hear what it was. Dont want that to happen to me.

Did it start working again after you got out or did you have to get a tow home?

They say when in water not to put the clutch in cos water & mud, etc gets in between the clutch, pressure plate & flywheel. I guess if you're stuck & need to rock the car you dont have any choice!

there should be an inspection plate that looks like this:

It has a hole in the bottom.

My box doesn't have one, so will buy one or fab one up.

Report from mechanic is spigot bearing and thrust bearing need replacement. Will be on road next week.

These are the GT rims I got from Obsessed for my Yoko ATS. Fitted them on the rims last weekend. I think these will look good on the SG when I next go off road

Got mine back from the mechanic. Sussed out cost of getting drivers seat rebuilt because its very saggy. Instead of paying approx 400 for one seat repair, I got two seats from a 2001 liberty for $180. Nice seats. Pics to follow.

My nightly fix: whack the left hand side halogen headlight from dull to working before setting off. This is a common issue, is there a fix to this?

Sounds as though the bulb isn't seated properly, the connector is loose/not seated properly, or the connector has loose/dirty clips.

Another possibility is that the bulb filament is broken, but not completely - i.e. has partially re-welded itself. I have had this happen.

Other than that, things get more difficult - checking the wiring to the light, then back to the switch, then to earth.

I had that happen on my old motorcycle once. One end of the low beam filament was disconnected so there was a tiny gap, hit the light and it would reconnect and some how fuse until the light was turned off for a good period of time. Being poor, young and stupid I though hitting it was an adequate solution until one day at 100km/h i hit a bump and it disconnected. With only my single light it went completely pitch black as I was in the country. For the second it took me to change to highbeam I completetly shat myself. Not a fun experience.

I think that we have all done stuff like that when we were younger and stupider Dedman.

Mostly we survive for long enough to learn to stop doing that kind of thing :poke:  .

Sadly, some of us don't ... :(.

Cheers Ratty,

Yeah probably all of those things. The dull old OEM's are just spares when the Cross Sport HIDs go on the blink! A quick flash on the hi beam switch sometimes corrects it. At least a weakly lit Hi Beam light on the dash gives the game away..

:iconwink:
