What have you done to your car today?

Another member cut slots through the thin section under the main rail to put in the flat bar & attached his u bolts to that. As long as you have rounded ends on the slit (drill 2 holes & cut between them) you wont have a stress concentration. But then again, you're an engineer so you're prob way ahead of me on that lol :raspberry:

this was me

i cut the slits for my roof top tent mounts. i wouldn't recommend it as one of the rails eventually cracked :rotfl:

Found this the other day after a weekend bucks party where I really tested out the new gearbox off roading (it passed by the way!):

^ I wasn't really fussed about this. I'm pretty sure my thinking was "Meh" at the time until I saw this:

New bash plate has moved up the priority list! Very lucky not to have damaged or snapped the cam belt. I pulled some free lancing pieces of stick that I presume were part of the perpetrator out of the cam cover too... very lucky!

Cheers

Thats the timing belt cover? Bugger!:shake:

Thats why I covered up the service ports in my Crossbred sumpguard. I thought it was pretty silly not to have protection under the sump plug when thats what I was trying to protect!

Yes it is... Pretty unusual to have a stick shove up in there. But we were pushing through fallen trees etc so I should've expected it.

I've only previously been after a guard from those "sump busters" - which this one has done the work of protection against a few times - it now hugs the sump!

Cheers

Bennie

Geez Bennie ... that must have been one hell of a buck's bash ...

As you say, flaming lucky not to have done in the belt on the way past!

Glad that you new gearbox has worked out well.
Very well, by the sound of things.
Maybe a bit too well ... ;) ?

Seeing as how you don't have airbags and stuff to consider, it seems a really good bit of steel plate might be in order ... .

After you've replaced your timing belt cover ... :(.

I have just installed NEW 30mm raised kings and new KYB stuts in my 04 XT forester the other day and it looks to sit higher in the rear also,.
Seems to still handle great and this was lowered with STI rear and front wrx springs before the lift,, around 100mm in height difference before and after.
Measured 270mm under rear diff, 250 under exhaust at rear and 230 under lowest point of exhaust at front, I have a 3" exhaust stainless which sits lower than anything else.
I am sure this height may settle with time but hopefully not
I have aftermarket sway and strut bars also.

Re aimed my driving and spot lights tonight. Road tested and met the grand daddy of kangaroos, luckily he just stayed on the verge of the road.

Fitted the alloys that I got off Obsessed in readiness for this coming weekends high country trip. I reckon they look better than the ones that came with the car !!

more people in the snorkle club, I'll be joining to in a few weeks :D

Measured twice & cut once I hope

More like measured bout 10 times lol. I made a proper cardboard template (the one that came with the snorkel didnt have the bolt holes in the right spots) & checked & rechecked on the guard many times lol :rolleyessarcastic:

I think if I was to do it again I might try putting the snorkel lower so I didnt have to cut the guard support panel

Today,
I installed 4 alpine 6" speakers in the doors of my SG x :)
They run really nicely off my single din headunit that I bought with the car.
Bit of cutting was required to fit. But well worth it.
Next will be a subwoofer, If I can sort out a stealth way to mount it :/

Thump on the front left side mudguard to get the headlight working again.
Thump on the rear left side tail light to get the indicator working again.

Oh the pain, the pain..

Replaced the mid section of my exhaust and the rearmufler. I lost the mufler during an offroad event last weekend. It broke when i drove in a deep mud pit. The mud was so deep that i coud not find the rearmufler back. It was literal gone.
The mid section broke in 2parts. Seems to be the weekest link in my car.

It is great to drive together with lifted "real" 4x4s and do exact the same things as they do with only getting stuck one time. I even towed a lwb landcruiser which got stuck in the mud

I post some pics later this week of that event.
