examples for myself how lift would look with my rims and how bumper cut would look

so normal steps for me do lift at least as much as in that pic, and then maybe cut bumper

car how its sits now, how +5cm would look and then +7cm wheel is in the air
would need bigger tires for better look there.

This morning at 5:30 AM was -20 celcious ,car started ok but maybe my battery is old allready kinda turns slowly in cold.

It's not comfortable, but good for the skin. :)
I lived in SE Queensland for the first ~25 years of my life. Loathed it ...

Yet my brother still lives there happily. So does my nephew - fixed his lifelong skin problems!

I've got skin like a baby's bum, even at 73 y.o.

I use a Boot's antiseptic cream that is sold all over the world ... except Australia. I get a friend in the UK to send it to me. It's the only thing that will control it when I get 'nappy rash'.

Not really the tropics that.. quite mild really in comparison. People from up here retire to the south east because it's generally cooler. :)

Not as cold as -20 though!
(see! I'm on topic!!)

When I was living in the UK you couldn't walk more than a hundred yards without seeing a Boots (well it seemed like that at least) It's a bit different now, I think they almost went bust a while back, but have recovered I believe.
(that didn't last long - me being on topic that is :()

That SE corner is a real humidity trap.

I'm happy living down south. We have very few humid days really.

I guess it kinda makes sense that i dont have any power on low revs as my cyl 2 and 4 struggles there ane then ECU doesnt help it tries to fix that with adding or removing fuel, in the end its just bad. I need to do that valve job i think . No matter cost.

Im thinking now maybe im driving on too low petrol levels in this cold i think its better to have at least half tank i think i heard somewhere that , because rhat condensation in cold does just bad thing . And here i am driving mostly with 15l petrol and 20l lpg. But now my lpg tank could be half frozen as it lets me fill very small amount of lpg. Thats cold for you.
But this 15-20 celcious and with our humidity is not bad if its not windy its kinda chilly but cool air.
It shows now himidity 74% here.

South Coast of NSW is somewhere I'd contemplate. But I'm more likely to move up to the Tablelands. It's beautiful country, not nearly so humid.

Now there's the rub, I'd much rather be in a hot climate with high humidity than cold with high humidity.

Life is cruel, we have now best winter over last years most snow too and my car decided to be in worst state just now. Heater doesnt work so its cold in car , only seats heating but feet allways cold, and it cant drive very well in deeper snow.
This should be best time for any subaru if its works and heats inside proper. This 2021 started not that good ... hmm

@Ben Up North That's why Utah is great. It's cold and dry, even with the +12m of snow. Driest snow you've ever seen. You can't even throw a snowball without it crumbling in your hand

Guys - keep in mind that this is a member's journal and not a general discussion thread. I do not want to start deleting off-topic posts but will have to do so if this trend continues.

yh we dont need off topics here , do we ?
was just driving from work and then hard brake slided off road , little acceident, something in front driver side i bend its shock or control arm then , because my front wheel went back more, alignment went bad , and i cut one rear tire. still came back home , well not home to my garden area , with one flat tire and front tire was allways touching shock and some plastic, so i drove slow, but i got back

i tried to looks what bend but couldnt see anything wrong there, so just rearanged camber bolts and needed to change all 4 wheels because now my one of those bad winter tires went bad , so for this evening i put those used very loud mud tires, but tomor i will see more into it maybe its shock bend i duno, and i will put back tires that i bought car with, as i dont have any other now left, and those are winter tires, so it will fit

this car is poper strong i mean , i hit some concrete under snow at speed with driver side front and rear wheels, so front went something bend and rear tire went flat. but i needed to go back home not far about 10 km , still my front wheel was touching everything there as i drove back. and afer 3 hrs i was driving car back home , its not touching anything , drives ok too. but something on driver side in front is bend there just i cant see it visualy, so i wonder will that be shock or control arm.

Bummer.

Yh makes me rethink how dangerous this can be and drive more carefully as i was lucky there it could end much worse.
Now just to find out somehow is it shock bend or control arm , that ones i have for change but shock i would need to buy used at least. Or i could drive like that maybe not sure. So will put now those 225/50r17 it will look funny on my lift rly but ok have no choice rly now.

@scalman - bent shock for sure. Pay attention to the tube section right at the top of the clamp/bracket that holds the camber bolts to the hub. The bend in the strut will be right at this point, only a tiny bend but that is magnified at the wheel end.

Might be a dodgy fix, but if your camber bolts can do the correction, you could get away with running that strut for a longer period of time before you get a replacement.

I’m surprised @Kevin didn’t pick up on the bent section after your bent rear struts all those years ago!

Cheers

Bennie

Thanks. Camber i fixed just that wheel on that side still moved more back so i still need to fix caster more , could try again change position on top lift spacer position but probably that wont be enough.
Duno how car will drive and feel if in front both sides will have diff caster might be off balance or smt.

Check the integrity of the lower control arm’s rear bush/mount. Something may have moved.

All the best with it.

Bennie

I looked at those when removed wheels yesterday , couldnt see anything out of place there. Bushings in place how they where. Wheel moved i would say some 2cm maybe even more and alignment went bad a lot so i adjusted that with steering end link. So something did moved. That front shock used must be cheap to buy so maybe i need to change it . And i can hear now new ratling clicking sound now front that wheel area when i go trough rough road. So something there is damaged i guess.
Sadly local scrapyard has only legacy front struts and forester sh ones. No outback ones.
Wonder how those forester sh struts different from those outback ones.

put back previous winter tires that i bought car with 225/50r17 , and that front well i made alignment ok i tested drove it up to 95km/h speed on road it feels ok car keeps on straight line too, nothing wrong in steering , but that front wheel visually looks as its more to back. but if its drives fine and not touching anything there maybe i can still use it for some time

You wouldn't want any front steering or suspension to fall to bits when you are driving, @scalman .

I've had that happen once. It could have been very bad, but just damaged the car badly. I dropped a lower front ball joint on a corner at about 100 km/h.
