What have you done to your car today?

Pics, we want pics....

Cut, polished AND Waxed!!! Wow - bug effort. Must have taken you all day?? Did you use a buffer or just by hand??

Did the whole thing by hand... I got my brother, who is 16, to help but it still took about 6hrs...
i should have been studying for my Yr12 exams that are next week but anything is better than studying...
Ill try and get some pics up tomorrow

Just purchased a couple of blank surf keys off Ebay & I have organised to get the door lock fixed next week... All in preparation for a surf trip to NSW, East coast (Most likely Ballina) in a month.

Fitted the CB for Sunday's trip. I suppose I will have to test the aerial to see if it works

I have been doing the samething. My Year 12 exam start this week and I have been Cut & Polishing my whole Forester, it needs it badly. Its taking me about 9 hours and I have done everything except the bonnet and roof. Doing the whole thing by hand, but it is worth the effort. I am try to do atleast 3 hours of study a day then I make a start on modding & cleaning the girl

Nice nice, look heaps better after cutting and polishing doesnt it..
Cant wait till exams are over to get modding mine also..
What modds are you planning to do???

^Yeah it does, I had swirl marks all over it, they looked really noticable with the blue metallic paint :( But now they are gone and I did have a few light long scratches on it (2x1m) which I managed to remove so im happy.

Modds. Well I removed the front mudflaps so the wheel arch lining isnt ripped out because I take her down the beach twice a week. Planning on a 1inch body lift because it will help offroad but wont have any noticable affect on the road like a 2". Bigger tyres to help offroad, but im not doing that until all 4 are completely worn (just got 2 new ones on the front 3 months ago). Stronger tow hooks to replace the existing stand ones.
Getting a new stereo head unit and speakers for christmas. So after that its just 4WD and Camping accessories.

How about you? What modds are you planning? Do you go offroad?

Well after exams i hope to make some draws to go in the back and make a new skid plate before christmas..
Going to get a 1inch strut lift from subtle solutions then later down the track replace self levelling rear struts and get raised king springs..
Bigger tyres but mine are also fairly new so that wont be happening for a while

Light bar and some roofracks would also be very nice..

I love going offroad but the approach and departure angles limit what i can do to some degree, so lifts will help that a bit..
Just want to get out with the boys and get camping..

^I forgot about roofracks. I need to get some for my kayak, they also look awesome too. Yeah the approach and departure angle are tricky at times thats partly the reason for a lift. I was thinking a bulbar but $$ and they weigh heaps. One would look good and be great roo protection but I cant seem to find anywhere in W.A that sells them for Subarus :(
I made a D.I.Y skid plate for myself because I wasnt prepared to pay $400 for a Subaextreme one, only issue is I dont have any bolts to bolt it there :( It looks good though, I 'borrowed' a sign from a nearby bush track, it will do the job well. Just bent it with the help of a mate and spray painted it black

Is your outback auto or manual?

^Yeah the bullbars a extremely expensive, but the subaextreme one looks awesome... im just going to make my own small light bar to chuck a couple of driving light on..

Im gonna also make my own skid plate, probs cost about $100... already deisgned it and made a cardboard one to see if it would fit, so all i need to do is make the real thing:)

Nothing wrong with borring the sign.. im sure no one will mind

It a manual.. I love driving manuals heaps more and it also comes with the low range which i have used quite a bit.
How about yours??

^ Yeah mines a manual. Love the low range. Actually just walked home then. I didnt have my phone with me, went for a small drive on the beaach about 2 km from my house to go for a swim and hit the brakes 2 hard with tight tires. Im bottomed out now. lol. waiting for a mate to come and pull me out.
Manuals are so much more exiting to drive :)

Well, I wasn't meaning immediately, you'll need to raise the thousand-odd dollars to buy the thing!!

Good luck in your exams. I can state with confidence after 5 years at uni that TEE will be the hardest academic thing you'll have to do in a while.

Now have MY99 WRX rims on the car. These are in fact the same rims I had on my last Forrie. New shocks arrived today, will probably install on Saturday

My kids school is having a fund raiser through Auto Bell Car Wash. If you live in the southeast US and you want your car all nice and sparkly clean, send me a mere $14 bucks and I'll send you a car wash coupon for a full service wash.

After two off road trips and many months of not being cleaned;

Replaced the blown driving light relay for the Hellas on the wifes car, checked the oil and tire pressures on both. Cumulative mileage for the last 2 weeks 7, yes 7 miles. I'm really liking this whole walking for groceries etc......

:)

Replaced the 2 front speakersw with Pioneer ones. Still have the original Head Unit and no rear speakers (waiting for them to arrive) but from just the 2 front speakers the new sound is amazing

Last weekend I replaced the struts in the Forrie. I replaced them with some KYB gas struts for $588. The rears were a piece of cake- except that the right rear had already been replaced by some boofhead who had not re-installed the bump stop. So now I'm after one of them- if anyone has one please let me know.

The fronts were a pain and in the end I had to take them to a mates place because it became a 2 man job. We compressed the springs as much as was possible, but because the shafts would sink back into the body, we couldn't attach the tops. Turned out the original shocks did the same thing- most unusual for gas struts. Anyway, together we did it but I would advise against using this strut unless you are ok with this. Car has since had a wheel alignment.

The Impreza FINALLY goes off the road this week for a partial tear down. Starting at the flywheel, I'll be removing the entire drivetrain. During last week I rebuilt some 2 piston rear calipers. These will be bolting on to the R180 hubs. An MY08 STI rear diff will be bolted into a GD rear subframe. The idea is not only better geometry, but the subframe will be solid mounted for more consistant handling.

An MY07 6 speed gearbox with DCCD and helical front diff will replace the old 5 speed, and a 6 speed spec clutch and flywheel are also going in. MY02 STI front shafts and R180 rear shafts transfer the power sideways, while a 6 speed spec tailshaft goes in as well. The front shafts have had their ABS tone rings removed to fit in with the existing hubs. From there, I have to install the 6 speed shifter and wire up the DCCD controller. The biggest problem will be fitting that 6 speed as they are HEAVY! I'll take some photos as I go along.
