What have you done to your car today?

Yeah, hoping to get most of it done apart from the gearbox itself on Saturday. But I think you're right.

With the rear end removed

Changing to new crossmember meant taking the exhaust hanger bracket with it, and removing the existing one. So, it was welded in place with the trusty mig.

Then I transferreed the lateral arms over as well.

Well, I'm 'small potatoes' by comparison with Rally's effort! :p

Removed left hand side muffler and hear shield so I could drill holes for and bolt down the negative 'bus bar' - i.e. connector for a number of wires and circuit breaker for my rear power connections.

  • Now all fitted up with rear 50 amp anderson plug for power to the camper trailer - charges the 150 amp hour battery in the trailer while on the road.

  • Also has a second 50 amp anderson plug in the rear of the wagon to charge a smaller auxiliary battery (hopefully 100 amp hour) in a battery box.

  • Yet to fit:
- 2 x anderson 'power pole' sets (instead of ciggie or merit plugs) to run my 'Auto Fridge' and charge my 'power pack' for jump starting.
- An additional 50 amp anderson plug in the lower part of the front bumper.
(Anderson plugs front and rear will allow me to plug in my compressor and inflate car and trailer tyres without either running out of hose or needing to open the bonnet.)

If anyone is interested, here is a link to the battery isolator / controller system I have installed. https://www.traxide.com.au/CWK_FPC.html
My set up is 'Option B', but with power poles instead of the 'Power Sockets', and an anderson plug for the aux. battery, so it can be removed for use.

Studs mounted in rear of diff had to be removed, and were replaced with bolts. Made re-ontsalling the diff a lot easier too. I also found that each caliper has "L" and "R" cast into it. Caught me out but soon rectified. Diff, brakes and suspension mostlt bolted in. 2 piston rear brakes were overhauled as well, discs are new as you can tell.

G'day lads,

Managed to get my exhaust seen to today. The OEM one was starting to get a hole in the *******. Replaced with a nice new little thing, but makes that nice boxer rumble sound, and gives it a tad more punch as well. Will post pics in the relevant area once I get them together

Cheers

Maybe, but obviously the bleed nipple must be at the top. It was only a minor inconvenience.

Can't see the presents. Must be on the seats or in the boot? You must be an early shopper- place looks deserted coming into Christmas

Had the 250,000 km service all fluids changed.
Small tear in front left cv boot discovered, explains the 'smell', bit of grease being flung onto exhaust. 'Watching brief' commences, will do both front cvs as soon as required, or at 300km.

Well it wasn't today, but on Saturday I took my Forry to a lookout & got it slightly dirty along the way.

I'll explain how it got that way when I do a trip report of my w-end away in the next few days.

Rolled over the 250,000km coming home from work.

Booked in at Suspension City to have the rear camber bushes fitted.

Rear camber bushes fitted this morning.

Needed to fit new rear 'toe' bolt, due to damaged eccentric washer.

Rear toe bolt , bush, washer and nut supplied by Subaru Geelong (Friday) 24 hours ex-Sydney. :)... Incorrect washer supplied, so SFA use. Hopefully Subaru Geelong will be able to get it right the second time!

Fitted twin fuses & twin Anderson "Powerpole" 'plug' inside left hand rear 'pocket' of luggage area. :biggrin:These will power my 'eutectic' Autofridge' via 12volt timer switch, also in the pocket, and charge my jump start 'power pack'. :lildevil:

Also, more design work with my metalwork 'guru' on rear tyre and 'Jerry can' mounts.

Removed the gearbox today. Note difference in size between the 5 speed and the 6 speed. Similar difference in weight too unfortunately.

I think thiis may well be the first time I have seen your car, even though I have been in it a few times. I wondered what colour it was.

It may be clean on the outside, not sure what it looks like under the bonnet (hood) though :o
I'm too afraid to look

After my last trip, I did clean under the bonnet, but it's never easy to get it all clean. Then there is the mess underneath as well. Still, it was all worth it.
