thats great too hear! thanks mr. turbo and taza :D even tho i havent taken them offroading yet they still have a fantastic feel driving on road. must... go... to... trails... lol

I know its not doing something to the car, rather doing something with the car.
Went to Sandown Raceway for a defensive driving course. Great fun and learnt a bit too. Really happy how the car stops compared to all the other car there!

I got some time in yesterday cleaning up the engine and engine bay of Ruby Scoo for the new clutch. She's well dirty in there - 2 years of crud build up and a few oil leaks that helped add to the problem...

Compared a few new items to the old:

^ You can see some scoring of the clutch pressure plate surface - new one on the right.

And I also found this little sucker copped some damage too - probably from trying to operate the clutch when the disc was breaking apart and interfering with the operation of the pressure plate:

Now to find time for the new rear crank seal, old one was weeping; waiting on the fly wheel to come back from being machined and to get an O ring to fix the leak you can see on the cam blanking plate on the back of the EJ in the top pic.

Cheers

What brand of clutch was the old one? Something obviously not right here

Can't really remember but I would say that is was a Clutch Industries (PBR) unit. I only replaced the disc last time. This time I've got the whole kit to drop in.

I think the reason this failed may have been that I damaged the disc when I installed it - I remember having some issues getting it to line up. This may have bent one of the spring retainers that finally let go - or it could have started a crack due to the forces during install being in a different direction to what the disc was designed for...

Either way I'm looking forward to this new clutch going in - and the new disc looks beefy compared to the last - I'll be keen to see if there are any differences in it's operation and feel.

Cheers

My Rally Armor Mudflaps arrived. So I spent this arvo (and evening) fitting them to the car. If you do it, it'll take a couple hours at least. Or at least it did for me.

Thanks! I've been working on a video today. I'll probably work on the pictures tomorrow, while catching up on some stuff the DVR recorded while I was gone.. :)

Well been pretty busy with the Foz recently.

Firstly i upgraded my headlamp globes that were Phillips Long-Life to Phillips Xtreme Vision +100. Them with the combination of my spotties out on the open road at night spread a decent amount of light, so im very happy.

I have completed my Fan cut out switch today. tried it out while doing some water/mud splashing about.

I soaked my air filter today so tomorrow im going to go order a new one.

Went offroading with my mate Dave in his Subaru Outback for the first time. Well first proper tim4e on the beach and dunes. Went well and dav got quite confident at doing slides. I even tried some circle work in the car as you can see below.

Came home for lunch & caught a wiff of something i didn't like. Popped the hood & found the radiator leakin fluid from the top where the metal coils & plastic top come together. Any reason it would leak from here? I'm going to try my luck with some "stop leak", which i've had 100% success w/ 2 other times.

It seems to be more of an issue with later model Subarus. I know a number of people in the WRX club who have had their 01 onwards WRX's have this problem with radiators, but the early model WRX's like mine seem less affected despite being older.

Interesting, i hope the stop-leak works for a little while before i have to replace this thing. You can see right where it's seeping up from.
