What have you done to your car today?

Alrighty, so yesterday i ran to O'Reilley's auto parts and picked up a bottle of this stuff. I used it once in a '78 Ford Custom & also in a '96 GMC 4x4. Both times it worked like a charm w/ the ford going a year before i sold it and the GMC for 2yrs before i sold it. So i figured i would give it a shot with the subie, being $5 vs $180. Put it in this morning and it seems to have stopped the leak!
I like this stuff because you don't have to flush the system or anything. You simply add the bottle straight into the radiator. I found my leak so quick, that i actually had to drain some fluid out to get the entire bottle in, but so far so good. Then you drive around with the heater on for 20-30mins to let it cycle through. Pretty simple stuff that i would recommend to anyone with small radiator leaks.
My father-in-law also put some in his 2002 Ford F150 and drove with it in for 7years without a problem before trading the truck in.

Went to the wreckers yesterday, then went back today and got a spare 15" Forester stock steel rim. Cost me $50 with a Geolander AT-S tyre 205/70R15 on it, bit worn on the outer sides but not too bad. My other spare is bent as I hit a log sideways a few months ago and swapped it over then forgot about it.
Might get a 215/70R15 tyre just to match my Geolanders on my car as a spare then keep the bent one as a extra backup with this stock size tyre on.

installed rs hood vents on EA81 body

I think I'm the first to do this...

I wanted abit more cooling as hot summer temps & high elevation take their toll on my ej22.
Usually while climbing long steep climbs the temps goes up a little.
I drilled holes in the block off plates.

Given the ea81 body(engine bay) is so small the ej22 is shoe horned in..
Thus giving less airflow around the engine vs an ea82 or legacy, impreza body.
I dropped about 5-7*f

The bonus is the "kewl" factor...

My clock (which has not worked as long as I have owned the Foz) started working, so I set the time. Next time I got back in the car, it was gone again. Spooky.

Hey Matt, my clock in my Foz didn't work when I bought it 18months ago.

Try this, its how to fix the clock. This could be your problem as it was mine  It was the very first mod/repair to my Subaru.

I have the same problem with my clock and temp/fuel/etc display in the Outback... Rarely works, if i give it a hit it comes on and it retains all the information so must be something similar.

I will try this over the weekend

Thanks Taza

Fine tuned my amps for my car stereo today. Also found out last night with my mate Davadov that when my strereo is pumping and my headlights are on all the lights, dash, number plate lights, interior and stereo lights dim to the beat of the music.
My stereo system draws so much power that my alternator can just keep up  You can even see the revs drop ever so slightly at idling but when running shes fine
I wouldn't wont to turn the car off :raspberry:

Alex had this issue with his L series. I think he either got a bigger alternator, a capacitor or a second battery just for the stez...

Likewise with my 04 build 05 model Outback. The damn thing hasn't worked at all most of this year.

Would be interested to see pics of where exactly the Outback clock needs soldering, or whatever, as I don't think it is identical to the Forester.

I have disconnected it and had a good look, it is completely different to the forester clocks I have seen, there is one mark on it that could be questionable but i have no real idea... A mate is going to look at it this weekend so I will let you know how we go and take a few photos if it works.

It would be good having something that works, I am sick of giving it a whack and don't want to pay Subaru for a new one.

Cheers

I fixed my clock as well, just by re-soldering the 3 things with the numbers, it works great!
Oh, and I also replaced my two airbags and the module.... my wife bumped into some toyota;(

With spring just starting together with hay-fever season, I though it was time to clean my cabin air filter, so I could breath a little easier

I've been meaning to do this for a while so I reset my ECU aswell.
Now I get to drive it like I stole it for the next week or two

I remember having the same feeling when I had my new (raised/heavy duty) springs fitted
They feel so much better than the stock ones :)

Yeah feel good with the HD springs onboard, theres a long story attached to the rear springs, well travelled and never been on a car and passed through the hands of 3 OSC members before settling in on the rear of "The Foz"

After my next trip away to Outback N.S.W next March towing a camper i will replace the struts.

Installed my Subaxtreme sumpguard today... will post pictures tomorrow.

Also washed the foz and the underside

+1 except for more body roll :( The only downside to a higher Subie.

I'm kinda confused by that taza
When I had my new (raised/heavy duty) springs fitted, I found there to be less body roll :quitar:

I got 1" (25mm) lift blocks fitted at the same time as my raised heavy duty springs (30mm front and 35mm rear). So raising the car that much and more because the old orginal springs were all saggy (about 3inchs from what the car was) made more body roll since it is higher. Its not too bad though, I won't mind upgrading my swaybars oneday.
