What have you done to your car today?

Elfreddo commented on one of my youtube videos saying I need a louder exhaust so today I removed the muffler.

If I said louder exhaust I meant a better note! But kudos for having a go!

As said on ausubi - get a straight through muffler that's not a cannon (too ricer!) and you'll get a great note that's quieter but still awesome!

Cheers

Will post a video when I get the photos off a mate.

Haha nice, i guess no exhaust constitutes a louder exhaust! If you find one that doesnt sound like a fart pipe, let me know.. I'd be curious to have a look at them.

Well after putting up with my Forry screaming its head off (for about 2 or 3 mins, when I started her up & when cold) for the past few days, I finally had the power steering belt replaced today
Now I can go to work in the morning without waking up the neighbours :lildevil:

Gave my Forry an oil change today & decided to go for something different this time.
Usually I use Castrol Magnatec 10w/30. This time I decided to go with the synthetic type & used Castrol Edge Sports 5w/30 instead
Time will only tell I suppose as to whether I made the right choice or not :iconwink:

While I was at it I also gave the sway bar links a lube to rid the annoying squeaks too :)

Finally I replaced my wiper blades also. I decided to go with the aero blades again, as the last ones I used were fantastic & lasted/served me well
I had to get the Tridon FlexBlade this time (same design as Bosch Aerotwin single blades) because I couldn't find the Bosch ones.

If they last as long as my last set which is close to 3 years (Oct 08) I'll be very happy indeed

Should be ok now, but not so good in summer- especially when you start spooling up the turbo, Mr Turbo!

Thats what I thought of too :iconwink:
In the coming months, when it gets a little warmer, I'll switch back to a more suitable weight/grade of oil. Probably something like a 10w/40. :)

Changed my spark plugs for the first time. Got the socket stuck on the plug on the first one. Freaked out abut It but got a mate to come around and help get it out. The rest were a breeze. Damaged one lead and nowhere in this city of 30,000+ people has a spark plug lead for my Forester in stock :yell:
So now I have to wait till tuesday so I can get some to come from Perth...

Oh there was oil on the leads when I pulled them out. Is this normal?

Washed, polished, vacuumed, cleaned all plastic surfaces, applied armour all.

The bloody interior was filthy with red and brown dirt: it hadn't been properly cleaned since the Nullarbor trip.

Oh, I had completely rooted the drivers side rubber mat, so went to super cheap auto to get some new ones. Various tyles for 30 something and 40 something bucks. The BESt ones (i.e. right size and a bit deeper but not a full dish) were $7.95 each!!! Bargain.

Today I'll be re-organising all the salvage gear for a trip up the Wimmera next weekend.

Fixed my broken passenger front window, had to re-glue it to the lower rail that supports it.

Oil change, vacuum, and wash. ready for road trip next weekend.

Put some gas bonnet struts on the Impreza. Mate gave them to me. Now for the Forrie

began my custom mesh grill project... gonna be a pain with the ugly design of the US style SF grill. but a fun project:)

also filled in the rear diff bushings with some 100% silicon window sealant. actually makes a pretty big difference!

Hope you had more luck with your bushes than I did. I did not realise till I got home why the car was so sideways so suddenly and at slower speeds than the other WRX's which were not sideways. Thought I'd forgotten how to drive

More so yesterday... Got home after 2 weeks away. 3 punctures, 4500km and unbelivable places with fantastic people. Everywhere from Cameron corner to innamincka to hardin corner and birdsville. The over to the Simpson desert and got Wanda up big red! Then down the birdsville track across the Cooper creek ferry and off to see lake eyre south. Then up he strzelecki to cameron corner and detour thru western qld to get home to nsw. Awesome trip!

Joel

Driving the Foz around with only 3 clyinders. Waiting for Repco to get the correct spark plug leads in. Hopefully tomorrow :rolleyessarcastic:
Now she really feels like a gutless piece of crap. I even tried running on 2 cylinders and had a top speed of about 70km/hr and could barely take off on hills. So now back to running 3 but there is a really had vibration due to uneven cylinders working :(

Sounds like a great trip. if the Cooper punt is running again then it means that there is a decent amount of water coming down the Cooper. I was there in late April, but it wasn't running.

This should keep water in lake Eyre for a while.
