What have you done to your car today?

Dropping my wife's GF wagon to get the clutch done. I will be putting a stock crank pulley back on my OBW, since I think the underdriven GFB pulley is causing my CEL woes.

I drained my oil at lunch while it was warm.

Now the oil has drained and its cold... will fill it tomorrow after putting the new filter on and removing the oil pan from beneath the subi.

Its currently 0.1 degree C outside. I'm changing oil at about 5000km (half an oil interval for me) due to the current oil not being so good for cold conditions such as the snow. Should be interesting to see how it goes.

Cheers

Bennie

Hit 55,000kms today! Not bad for a car that's just turned 6!

.

Haha that's funny! It seems low km to me. My Forester is 6 years old (according to build date at least) and I clocked up about 55,000km in the last year alone.

Regards,

Joel

New set of General Grabbers, 65,000km on old ones and still plenty left*

*Alignment issue, ruined two due to toe out issue

Today I paid Mr Turbo a visit. He very kindly fitted my rear diff breather. Now I can really go swimming! Thanks heaps Mr Turbo.

Regards,

Joel

Bent one of my rims when offroading on the weekend :censored::censored: :yell:
Got it swapped over to the spare tyre.

Bugger! I guess that's where the steel rims are handy - you can beat them with a hammer to straighten them out, or just get another one on the cheap ;)

Cheers

Yeah im pretty annoyed about it but will try and get a couple when I go to Perth at the end of this month.
Its party my fault anyway. It was on the weekend at 2 or 3am. Something like that. I was out camping with a few mates and had a couple of drinks. Was out driving and went sideways kind of into abit of a log (with my tyres at 13psi) then kinda fell out the drivers door and spent probably 10mins trying to find something broken or damaged. Didn't notice that something was wrong until I was driving home on the highway and had bad steering wheel vibrations. A balance weight had also come off I later found out.

Pulled out a tree though and atleast we had a good fire. you can kinda see it in the background of this photo.

Finally got my Foresters noisy alternator looked at and fixed. Both front a rear bearings had had it. Dosn't sound like I have a supercharger any more.

Also got the Outback washed.

No worries joel_57 any time mate :iconwink: Glad too help :)

Hope my little puppy didn't scare you too much when he started growling at you

Regards
Mr Turbo

Had windscreen replaced yesterday, was the original one with almost 170k on it...

Its like I have a new car, didnt realise how many chips I had in it!

Wow, paffoh! Kind of like old eyeglasses that you haven't cleaned in a while and that have accumulated lots of microscopic scratches over the years.

I gave the outside of my Forester a complete going over with Kerosene today to remove grime and tar, followed by a good wash and chamois, Casper is looking like a million dollars.

Not me - but a :censored: idiot in the Uni carpark decided that sliding his Silvia was cool. He then proceeded to go up an Island, and hit my car. He hit the towbar, moved the car forward with the handbrake on and it in first gear - I'll be at Subaru first thing in the morning getting it the car checked. But at this stage I'm ropable

Hey mate, I was there for a while because I recogised your car from on here.

The dude in the Nissan was a complete idiot. He denied drifting his car round the corner but the marks on the road said otherwise....

After giving his details to the security guard, he asked me if I would help guide him out. I said "no, you're going to have to wait for the owner to come and move his car or else you'll do more damage taking it out".

I got photos and stuff of it so if you need anything, let me know.

I like to park near the end of the grounds as well, mainly to avoid these sorts of incidents. But it goes to show, your car is never really safe from fools.

Hey Mate,

Thanks, I may have to take you up on the photos if you don't mind. I did get some photos, but it was dark when I got there - most of my photos are after his car had moved out as I used a mate's Impreza for lighting. The security guys said you had been there - glad you were, otherwise they would have driven off and done more damage.

I think I have gotten off a lot better than he has. His drivers door is well and truly stuffed, and front and rear spoiler is badly damaged after getting wedging on the logs. I saw him last week skidding as well, so he is an absolute deadsh!t.

That's a side of the story I haven't heard. He was trying to get out ASAP without me getting my own copy of his details. Nothing was said to me about what happened, just that this was the end result. Security left me a message, and they gave him my number so he texted me informing me that he needed me to move my car.

I thought by parking there would be safe - but as you said, the car is never really safe from fools.

I cracked my 4mm thick aluminum sump guard!!!!! :surprised: Its completely stuffed. Bent like all hell and unrepairable.
I fell into a slippery ditch last night after I was out fishing. We had around 15mm of rain and mud was everywhere. My car slipped into the ditch front end first and the sump guard landed on a concrete block sticking out of the ground. The ruts were deep and the rest of the car was only a few mm from bottoming out. It was dark and I couldnt really see much but I checked it out this morning and there is no damage whats so every to the Forry  Thank god for that. I will remove it after work and confirm that. Will post some pics too. The sump guard is cracked and bent so its just touching the oil drain plug

And to think I was offroading for the first 9 months of owning my Forester and had nothing there, not even the stock plastic piece of :censored:

Time for an upgrade I think and I still have to build some slider bars underneath when stuck on rocks for the old girl to slide and not crush the exhaust along with something to protect the gearbox/front diff and fuel tank. I have a whole workshop at the school where I work so that will come in useful for the cost of a carton
