What have you done to your car today?

From our campin trip out west, the forester was quite covered in bugs & a few good layers of dirt so i gave her a washin today. Also took the advice from others in the forum and waxed with some mcguiars(think thats how it's spelt). Anyways, looks shiny new now and ready for the summer months.

Installed my brand new starter motor today.
Timing belt needs doing so probably next week...then the wheel bearings...then full fluid change...jesus christ it never ends.

It's a bit like painting The Harbour Bridge. As soon as you get to the end you have to start all over again!

Yeah, I've heard that about Landy's! :lildevil:

and drove down to the local fire house for inspection. By inspection I mean a burly firefighter tried to wrestle it loose:raz: In less than 30 days I'll have my new little passanger, better get some wheelin' in quick:lildevil:

Removed the aircon compressor belt and tensioner.
Turns out that is what's been making all the noise. Thought it was my front wheel bearings...pheeeew!

Ahw! Congratulations, E.J.! Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Watch out, though. Some little passengers get hooked on wheelin' and can't fall asleep without! :raz:

One upgrade guaranteed to make you slow down and drive more cautiously.:iconwink: Anxiously awaiting the arrival of your new little passenger.

Yesterday YotaRu got an engine oil change, an extended rear diff breather, and fresh rear diff oil.

Filled the boot up to the roof at 5.30 this morning. I have about 100kg on the roof of shovels, bog planks, kayak, swags. She is now gonna be over two tonne for the camping trip this weekend  With 4 people in the Forry too.
Hope I dont get bogged on the beach, least I got 3 other people to get out and push

Congrats E.J on your soon to be new member to your family :raz:

With all that extra weight on board taza, it's going to look like you're Forry's been lowered. :surprised: But as you say, if, & thats if you get bogged (which I'm sure you won't) there'll be plenty of helping hands to help push you out.

Have fun & be safe mate

Regards
Mr Turbo

Yeah it does look like the back has been lowed. About 2" She should be right, will let the tyres right down and will get a heap of photos. You couldnt pay me to lower my Forry :raspberry:

Ordered and paid for new front drive shafts after the parts bomb replacements are noisier than the old set but don't create the same vibration the old ones did.
Also got some thinner oil on the way for the winter months plus a new filter and some more anti freeze coolant - going to avoid the event of last year! I've got 1 litre in there at the moment of anti freeze concentrate with about 3L of water, ran up to hotham litre and a bit short without any issues in the cooling department :D

Other than that I went 4wd'n on easter saturday with the scorpion rims - they worked a treat and look awesome too! Had a great day out!

Cheers

Bennie

Tired of consistent brake fade, I upgraded all round to DBA wiper slot rotors with Bendix Heavy Duty pads in the front and 4WD in the rear.

$290 for rear rotors - Repco Artarmon
$360 for front rotors - Repco Artarmon
$210 for pads - Chatswood Brake and Clutch
$150 for labour and materials - Chatswood Brake and Clutch
----------------------------
$1,080

I got great rates on the rotor firstly by just asking for a discount and secondly once they agreed to 15% I then got a further 10% being a member of NRMA.

:discomonkey:

Got it a little dirty.. I tried to get it more dirty, but that area just wasn't wet enough.. and that big mud-hole in the background is full of beer bottles and other "not safe for tires" materials.. So, that was a no-go.. :(

Thats right, you guys have been getting some good rain up there. Is that a lake behind you?

Yeah, the area I went to is an overlook area.. The lake is down below. I tried to go to another overlook area that is usually effected by rain. But, the city has it closed for "improvements." It looked to me like they were tearing a bunch of stuff UP. So, we'll see how "improved" I think it really is, after they're done with it. I hope they don't mess with the trails I've been wanting to go explore...

My Forester is getting towed today on a truck to go get replacement keys made at Subaru.
Lost my only key while working last week...bummer.
