What have you done to your car today?

It was the Impreza's turn to get a new stereo. The over 10 year old head unit could play cassettes as well as control a 6 stacker. The new head unit has bluetooth and USB. The USB stick has over 150 songs and finally brings me up to date with what most people probably have. The CD's began skipping, I don't play tapes, I wanted bluetooth, so even though I don't use the radio that much, at least when I do I can listen to the music I like. The head unit is a 2011 model in the Impreza, the Forrie has a 2010 model. The Impreza continues to run through an amplifier and upgraded speakers, while the Forrie makes do with nothing more than standard speakers. I'll never win a stereo competition with either car, but who cares.

I just had some A pillar rust fixed and a new windscreen installed

Well ****.
Had the blowtorch cranking for ages yesterday but can't get the brake on the control arm hot enough to straighten. Looks like I need to hit up the local Japanese wreckers and replace my control arm.

Dammit.

Well managed to score a replacement control arm for $20 of a local Forester club member. Yeeeeew!!!

Rebuilt the starter motor today as it's not working very well. Can't seam to fix it. Looks like I'll be buying a new part tomorrow.

Well where to start.

  • In the past 2 weeks my foz and I have done 3000km.

  • When coming back from Perth today I got from their to Gerladton on half a blo*dy tank :censored::censored::surprised: I couldnt belive how economical she was when sitting on the speed limit the whole way

  • When I got home about 12pm I went to a mates and helped him continue looking for a Forester to buy and mod as a 1st car. Hes looking for a late 1st or early 2nd Gen Forester, manual, less than 200,000km, with a price of up to $14,000. there hasnt been much in the quokka, dealers, or online. Not much choice. He also wants it for offroading. If anyone knows of a Subi like that can they please let me know

  • After that I went dow the beach and as I was heading down the track I found a bogged 100 Series Toyota Landcruiser that was trying to help a bogged Holden Viva. Yes thats right a front wheel drive Holden Viva!!!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:I offered to snatch the Landcruiser out 1st(nearly getting stuck for stopping in the soft sand) then pulled the Viva through 150m of the soft boggy track :rotfl::rotfl: Was so funny that my little Subi did all that.( My tires were at 12psi though :D)

  • My great gandma turned 100 on Friday which was awesome. Met about 40 of the family members I never knew  Had a fun family day
What a great few weeks I have had.

Gave the gernie a good work out on it & under it (especially under it) & now it's nice & clean. Not sure for how long though :raspberry:

Regards
Mr Turbo

Taza,

I recon you should buy THIS one https://offroadsubarus.com/showthread.php?t=2403 and sell him yours!

Alternatively, he could get it for his price limit and the cost of a one way fare (and a couple of weeks to drive back!) but it already has so many mods!

Barry

Took the young bloke away camping to Lake William Hovell and Lake Buffalo. Camping not allowed at either :( - so first night under the stars on the side of the road, second night near Abbeyard. Had hoped to get throgh to Buckland and have a lok at a few old mining sites, but a new bridge is being built over the Catherine River at Catherine Station, and the side track was too steep, deep and slippery to even think about trying solo.
Had a great time. Was asked: "Dad, are you still going to do the Simpson?" (Desert for the non locals). We talked about doing it together, with a roof tent. Likewise the CSR. :poke:

Barry I would love to, then all I would have to do to that Foz is add bigger springs.
Only problem is I cant afford $17,500. If it was $15,000 or just under I would think about it and it would cost me a few thousand bucks to fly over and drive it back.
And im reasonably happy with my Foz, I have done a DIY sump guard to it, added a $700 stereo, seat covers, spot lights, done 20,000km in 9 months it in. I have started a special bond with it.
And since I would probably only get $9,500 for my Forry I dont have the money to fork out for it because im trying to put some away for University next year.
Too bad its not really an option.

Broke my F**KING rear bumper!
I still have the rear OEM mudflaps on and when going up a sand dune I had decient momentum and it got caught then ripped. Big crack in the back near the exhaust pipe going all the way to where the boot shuts :censored::censored::censored::censored: After a few words I was like this :madred::yell::madred::yell:

Thank bl**dy god for Duck Tape, otherwise the mudflag would be dragging on the ground.

Also if anyone knows where I can get a rear bumper please let me know.

Regards

Having been thoroughly un-impressed with the mediocre grip levels of the Coopers tyres on my Forrie, I replaced them with some new Toyo Tranpath MP4's. Essentially a good on road tyre, they are Toyo's replacement for the MP3's I had and loved on my last Forrie. I looked up some US sites, but they either don't stock Toyo or don't stock this tyre- otherwise I'd have imported them. Why anyone would fit Coopers tyres- or this model- to a car I can only imagine they have a death wish

Probaby just the specific tire not available in the US. My old triumph spitfire has a set of Toyo's on them, though i can't recall what kind.

struts, trans. service, headlamps polished

It was a full day yesterday working on my outback .
I started out with some touch up painting on the rockers (full of rock rash).

Whist between coats I serviced my 4eat trans. with maxlife atf (120k service).

I started removing the front struts only to discover the strut bearing plate bearings were toast! After much colouful language..(my frustration in locating parts with 6 different sources.) I found two strut bearing plates.

I took breaks watching global rally cross on espn3.com

https://www.global-rallycross.com/?page_id=61

I Installed the front strut lift blocks (1" subtle solutions) and new KYB gr-2 struts.

I next polished my front headlamps that were getting abit hazy.
I used a kit form Napa . I also did the fogs as well amazing results..!
