What have you done to your car today?

I did a thing!

Also replaced the 16 year old cheap rear seat covers, with cheapish one size fits all new ones. you can accumulate a surprising amount of sand carting Nippers about over 15years, I should have taken a photo of the seats before I vacuumed and put on the new covers. The seats underneath are in excellent condition if I do say so myself!

They don't look the best in that picture :(

235/75R15 ... front needs some grinding even with 25mm wheel spacers but i think they will clear that

Changed the spark plugs and brake pads.

For the spark plugs I removed the air box and battery for better access.

3 old spark plugs and 1 new. The last spark plug on the right hand side near the battery was a real fiddle to get out.

Test drove the car after, it started, and stopped when i used the brakes. Only thing that went wrong was from the drivers door controls I could not control the front passenger window. Turns out you need to reset the passenger window when you disconnect the battery (from the passenger side wind it all the way down and then up again). Strange.

But all working so happy days.

Yesterday I followed the BHG (Better Homes & Gardens) segment on cleaning your windscreen. Having had 34mm the day before it was hot and humid in the garage and I lost a few litres of water (sweat). The end result was absolutely stunning and well worth the effort, but it's not something that I want to be doing too often. :ROFLMAO:
Unfortunately I don't have any before & after pics, so you will just have to take my word for it. (y)

Link to BHG segment.

Well I got sick of the old EA82 TAP TAP TAP which I have been putting up with for months now so I bit the bullet and did the oil pump seals. Barely got it into 2nd gear down my street and everything went quiet! Well there were actually probably at least 3 noisy lifters because it went quieter 3 times on the test drive and now its pretty much just regular valve tick. Thank goodness for that!

Ah, nostalgia! The moment you mentioned that noise, I could practically hear it myself...

I solved by lifter tick with an EJ22, best mod for this issue! That was 12 years ago o_O

Cheers

I don't know what it is, COVID maybe, but the cheap old Libertys have all but dried up around here. I have been on the lookout for ages and all I see for sale is good ones. A few years ago when I didnt have a suitable workshop they were coming up all the time. Typical!

I think it's happening to old subarus and in fact any old car..
I was offered $7K for my SVX the other day. That's more than I've spent on it, including purchase cost and rego, which is rare for a secondhand car!
On the plus side, my little baby should be ready today, gearbox done, TCU repaired., only got the stereo to go and it's ready for the road!
And then the mods shall begin. in a couple of years. when things return to normal. after I wear out the RE003s. Hotbits time! :)

Last time I looked they were selling for much more!
The auto mechanic who I had the SVX with has just bought one out of NSW, 190,000 on the clock, very good condition (the paint and rims are like new compared to mine!) with transport to Cairns it set him back about 9 1/2K. It's a lot better condition than mine, no sump guard though.
