What have you done to your car today?

As of right now, just two beefy 1/4" steel brackets that bolt to the bumper structure and protrude through the bumper cover. my bumper cover was in awful shape from the very beginning so I had no problem slicing it up for this.

As you can see, there's definitely room for it to be pushed back a bit but that's not a big deal, just another project for a later date. This all started after a friend retired his Explorer and had it on his porch, so we held it up there for giggles and were quite surprised when it actually was a very close fit

THIS IS WAY TOO AWESOME. Exactly what I'd want. Seen some locally around 150$... as much as I'd like a proper bumper replacement, I can't really afford the price+freight . This would offer the protection (and badass look  ) even though it wouldn't help the approach angle.

For what year Explorer is it designed? What brand if you know it?

It'd be great if you could take some more pics of how it's installed... maybe making a separate thread :D

Well, since I did some work on it today, I guess it goes here. While it came off an Explorer, it's apparently for a '99 Ranger, and it's made by WAAG. I drilled a few new holes and made some adjustments for it, so now it mostly fits flush with the already hacked up bumper. I made a couple 1/4" steel brackets that bolt to the actual bumper itself, with big ol' honking tabs sticking out to bolt the brush guard to.

Still unpainted, since I'm pulling it all at some point for another project and it's held up remarkably well despite a lot of wet weather.

All in all, makes for a pretty flush fit!

If I'm feeling motivated tonight, I'll run out and see about making some adjuster brackets for the lamps as they wiggle far too much and it'd be nice to have them locked where I want them. It's rather crude but it's holding up perfectly, and gives me something neat to look at when I'm slaving away at some awful car in my bay.

Went for a drive today testing out some vic topo maps (legally free as well which is nice) on ozi explorer for android. Nice 1:50k maps with contour information, Next is just waiting for the 12v charger and windscreen mount for my tablet. Not sure how well a 10" tablet will go on the windscreen though

INTERNETRACECAR that roobar fits amazingly well! whats the "other project you've got in mind?

Once the suspension is squared away, I'll probably be modifying the bottom to extend it under the car and above my skidplate to beef everything up for the addition of a winch. That's definitely a bit down the road, though!

Don't your Forester axles fit :poke:

The stubs that go into the diff are different on the LSD centre. In the SF both sides are the same & have a circlip inside the diff near the end of the spline.

The WRX LSD axle stubs are like this:

Driver's side is the long one with twin splines & a circlip on the stub, passenger side is short with a circlip in the diff. The extra spline is for the viscous LSD centre for which this is a replacement (same as the KAAZ & Cusco centres)

I replaced my tyres & had a wheel alignment done today :)

Got it all done for a great price too :raz:

I got 4x Geolander AT/s (with at least 80%-85% tread left)

They took the tyres off one set of rims, them took my old set of tyres off their rims.
They then re-fitted & balance them to my wheels, together with the wheel alignment.

So lets just say I'm very happy chappy
All up it cost me just $500 neat for the lot :woohoo:

Regards
Mr Turbo

^ I hate it when they do that!

I keep a spare stud or two in the car, just in case. Expensive little things.

I hate it when tyres places do that, even more when i find my wheels have been put on with a rattle gun. The local tyre place also told me the noise comming from my bent rear strut was a "manufactured knock" ad nothing the worry about pack of galars

Subaru charged me $11 for the stud and nut. I was actually expecting it to be more, around $15.

That's a bit weird to have such a longer stub on one side, looks like its impossible to put the opposite one !

Yeah I know its weird. The second spline fits inside the viscous centre. On a plated diff its not needed but Subaru kept the design anyway

Sound Deadened most of my Forester inc' the floor. Huge difference, stereo sounds 3x better and much quieter when driving. Only cost $150 to do and was well worth while.
At the same time, cleaned the inside of the foz :)
