What have you done to your car today?

Fitted the raised King springs and KYB struts today to all four corners. Will take measurements and photos.

Make sure you loosen then tighten the nut on the front control arm rear bush with the vehicle on the ground. This releases the tension that raised springs put into the bush...

I have done a few bits over the past week, so not just today...

Today- fitted new (new to me) seat covers, as I realised my old ones were not meant for seats with airbags. Feels like a new car inside now.

The other day I had to go into a lettuce field for work, having had quite a bit of rain the right before. It was pretty slippery going down the field (even worse for the hilux in front of me, as it was all over the place), but all fine. I knew I had a heap of mud stuck to the inside of my wheels. Hosed the fronts down and a little on the back. After about 20 miles of the car shaking all over the place I decided to check the back wheels...... a lot worse than I had thought, had to take them off and scrape the mud off.

At the weekend I caught up with a job I had been meaning to do for a while, plug seals on the passenger side. When I changed the plugs a while back the drivers side plug seal had gone, so changed that. Then I changed the HT leads and noticed the passenger side was leaking a bit. Being a pain to get to (or more than the other side), I left it quite a while, but finally did it along with rocker gasket and the bolt gaskets/washers. No wonder the old ones were giving a poor seal, they were so hard and brittle.

You can see the difference in size between the (large) old compressed ones and the new ones.

Got a new radiator today - coolant started leaking everywhere during the week, couldn't see where from though.

I'm thinking it's time for some new springs and shocks too...

Bought some 2004 SG KYB shocks for my foz. Should give me heaps of clearance for when I get my new tyres soon :D got the struts at wholesale price through work for $98 each!
Worn out my current KYB' s in 70k km :P.

replaced the front O2 sensor on Sunday - reminded me what a pia job it is!

Ahh... That's definitely a bargain! How much would they cost normally?

Thats a great price alright taza :)
As they say, it's not what you know, but who you know :iconwink:

Regards
Mr Turbo

Been a long time since i cleaned the inside of the car, found $10 an apple core and rat tail file i was looking for ages ago. Noticed the a/c drain bung had falen out pushed that in from under the car and found the source of my engines rattle, heat sheild from the extractors has fallen off and sits on the sump gaurd!.

I decided to pull out the cabin air filter and give it a blast with the air compressor...but there was no filter there, can i just get them from bursons?

Quick questions as well, I'm about to purchase new rear shocks, will SG kyb's fit sf king springs?

Yes they do & will give you extra room under the spring perch :monkeydance:

Thanks NachaLuva the extra clearence on the big tires would be nice mine are pretty close as it is. Does the SG strut give a little more height?

I think it might but not sure...Taza just installed rear SG struts, perhaps he could post what he found... :poke:

You could also try PMing him

Gained a bit under an inch of clearance at the back. Strut perch was just a touch under an inch higher also. This is when using SF raised springs in SG struts.

^ Yep I did it on the weekend. Changed to 2004 SG Forester KYB's from my KYB SF struts. Gained about 30mm extra in the rear.
I put almost 200kg in the boot of my Forester today and found that the back end is still sitting quite abit higher than the front

Thats what i want to hear! thats always been the problem with the sf even with raised springs load up to go camping and the donkey go's all the way down.

Atleast theres some good news after pulling all those pine needles out of the cabin fan

^ IDW I don't know if you saw my foz in another thread about wheels but here it is(Sat just gone) with SG Rear shocks, 65mm rear lift blocks (50mm up front) and 30mm raised springs all round with 215/70R16 Yoki Geolander tyres.

I have 5 Subaru wheels in the boot(120kg worth), 30kg of tools and about 30kg of miscellaneous stuff. The back end is still sitting atleast an inch higher than the front. Offroad fully loaded I never drag or hit the arse end on anything :P
