What have you done to your car today?

It was over a few weekends actually... thanks to supercheap ordering me 2 right hand struts, I drove around for a week with the rear lifted and the nose down while i waited for them to fix their mistake... quite a few weird looks were pointed in my direction for sure!

I haven't taken it in for a wheel alignment I guess it could help but I didn't think L series had camber adjustment

My gf & I gave my Foz & her Beetle a long overdue wash n wax

Mine was covered in mud, hers in insect poo!

Picked the old girl up from the panel shop this afternoon. No, never had a bingle, she was just looking a bit tired from all the small dents and stull I've accumulated over the years nudging tree trunks and lugging fencing wire around and so on.

So I took it to the panel shop to get a new rear bumper (second-hand one, actually, was half the price), have the front passenger door straightened and the trim re-attached after I thought the gap between two stringybarks was an inch bigger than it really was and slid sideways down the slope into one of them (which didn't do anything, I was at less than walking pace) and then simply drove on letting the door slide gently against the tree trunk (which was a mistake). One or two other minor marks.

She's not still a bit scratched here and there are still other small blemishes, but I'm not worried about them, they don't really show to the casual glance, so that's close enough. She looks decent and respectable again, that's all I wanted. Five hundred bucks well spent, I think.

Seems like you got a good deal there mate :iconwink:
It also sounds like you're fairly happy with what's been done too :)

I had my car tuned by Throttlehappy Yesterday, man what a difference and from what he explained to me my car now has 30% more power and I have not had to make any physical modifications to my car. I actually lost traction taking off on Tarmac, plus my gear changes are smoother. I cannot report on the fuel economy yet and this is probably just down to the fact that it is like having a new toy and its a hell of alot of fun. I will however let you guys know how the economy goes.

So far I have fitted day time running lights, a complete new stereo that has GPS and bluetooth handsfree not forgetting all new speakers and a sub and now has been tuned to what I have been told is now approx around 135kw at the wheels. All this for less than $1000

I am sooooooooo happy right now.

Next will be to put it on a dyno and see what the true output is and maybe an intercooler and a exhaust mod, not loud but just enough to know the boxer is alive.

oh and a sump guard

:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Yesterday, it was the upholsterer's turn. He sewed a new panel into the outside of the driver's seat where I had worn right through the fabric and into the foam rubber. (think the raised bit on the outside of the seat, not the large flat bit in the middle, which is still OK.)

$250 might sound a lot for a few square inches of viynl, but it would cost that for a second-hand seat (which mighht be the wrong colour anyway, though I don't care too much about that), and to do the job he has to remove the reat, take it apart, sew in the new panel (two new panels actually - he did the seat back too, which wasn't worn through but was only another year or so away from reaching that state), and reassemble everything, all without setting off the air bags.

Next: replace the clock light; replace the broken cup holder; and a new driver's seat belt 'coz the original one is a bit worn. (The belt is probably OK for years yet but as a major safety item I'd rather be certain it is good.) The Subaru dealer is doing those 'cause you have to get the parts from Subaru anyway so they might as well do the lot. Dunno when, they are supposed to call me back.)

Outback oiler How much did that tune cost??

I added the response from SJR Lift about my camber issue in the trouble shooting thread

Got rear-ended by a guy on Kings Way this arvo...

Not too much damage, but will need new bumber bar and tow bar too. Oh well, what do you do?

Pedro.

There is way too many wreckless drivers on kings way, hopefuly its nothing too bad. I used to drive on kings way every day to work, theres was always an accident at least 2 a week either on kings way or the off ramp onto kings way.

Sorry to hear about you getting rear ended mate, not good at all :(
Like others said, get it checked out by a professional to be on the safe side.
It may not look like much, but as they say, it could be worse than it looks, you just never know

As for me, I finally hit the 100,000km's today

Its a special moment when your car turns 100000km, looks like your car could do with a clean as a present ;).

Well I have been giving my car a hiding with the new tune and I have managed to get 15km less out of my tank. I am going to take it easy on the next tank and see what happens, could be good news

Yes it needs a clean on the inside alright  :poke:

It sure was a special moment (for me at least)
It's the 4th car I've bought brand new (off the showroom floor) & kept long enough to make it to 100K

Today I had a spare hour and I was near Pick a Part so I thought I would go for a look and see what was around. There wasn't much around in the way of Subaru stuff but there were 3 or 4 Gen 1 Libertys and a Gen 2 FWD Liberty.

My Lib wagon at some stage had the electric adjustable suspension changed but still had the switch in the dash and I was lucky enough to find a cover plate so I could take the switch out and cover it up

I hadn't planned on doing this "right now." But, when I ruined a tire and realized I was going to need to buy a new set of tires, I decided to get some Geolander AT/S's.
