What have you done to your car today?

I bent my sump guard pretty bad into the exhaust while 4wding with some mates in the brindabellas. I managed to get through everything a pajero did. One steep track I nearly come unstuck when the hill start assist locked up and made the foz slide sideways when I just missed out on making it to the top

I began the trimming and modifying of my front bumper
...Then I removed the whole front of my car:)

Just to see how everything was mounted under the bumper

I trimmed the hard plastic under layer where the fogs mounted and then trimmed the bumper cover from the fogs out.

I removed the white foam layer and I'm going to remount the cover and pull it in tight to give it a better approach angle.

I will post pics tomorrow:)

Oh a also did a complete fluids change. Oil, filter, tranny, rear diff, and fuel treatment.

Well I started installing the stereo, it is slightly taller than a standard double din but I believe with a little manipulation it will fit. There is a way I can fit it in without changing the look if the face and the top of the full screen will be exposed and the plastic top will tuck in behind the facia, it just requires the removal of about 5mm of unseen plastic without disfiguring the face

On the other side the reverse camera works great the stereo sounds heaps better than the standard one, the only fault I can find is the iPod connectivity resets every time your stop the car so it won't pause and restart the same song you left with. The GPS is great actually apart from the unit being slightly taller than normal units and the iPod restarting every time I can't fault the unit. I won't have the dashboard finished until the weekend, but I will get a dremel tool to trim up the facia neatly.

Btw I got an adapter from liquid ice on eBay which made it plug and play, no soldering
Overall it is worth the money

I finished the stereo install today, I had to trim up behind the facia for it to work but from the front it looks no different

Got a Foz GT to drive for the meantime off a friend so it's not so back :iconwink:

Holy crap, that's bad luck. But the GT might slow down the repairs

Great job OutbackOiler! I recently put just an Alpine stereo with USB input & bluetooth for around the same cost as your unit. I priced something similar to yours and it was around $2,000! I figured that I could manage with the navigation system I already had at the price difference between the 2 units. If you have alot of songs on your ipod and it goes back to start all the time, a way around that is to create a few different play lists, so that you aren't stuck on the same tune every time you start your car.

Great job OutbackOiler...very professional effort! :lildevil:

Bad luck bout your CV & your poor old EJ20 Taza. Agree with OO...the GT might slow down the repairs lol :iconwink:

oooo GT nice!:lildevil:

what brand of drive shaft were you using?

with the ej20 dead looks like the ej25 wont be too far away!

Sorry to hear about the snapped CV taza :( But at least you have something to drive around in until you get your new motor in

I'm also with others, in saying that the new engine fit may now take a little longer than expected :iconwink:

Vroom, vroom, woooooosh :twisted::twisted:

Swapped the cabin filter this weekend. Don't let anybody tell you the '99 doesn't have one, it was a factory option. Oh yea, $35.

I cleaned the cabin air filter in the SH a couple of days ago. It wasn't very dirty.

Today, I stuck weather seal strip around the front and rear gates and lid on the trailer. Should keep most of the water out ... hopefully ... :iconwink:

Week before last my Foz had a weeks vacation at Wholesale (now "City") suspension to sort out a few "noises". They took all four corners out and checked all their prior work; replaced front ball joints, a smashed top hat and steering rack links and all is now nice and quiet. Another great job for reasonable dollars.

Not today but on Sat i fitted up a rhino shovel mount so i don't have to carry it in the car.

Over the last week, it's been a steering wheel cover, sheepskin covers on the front seats & replacing the headlight bulbs with Narva +50 low beam & Arctic +50 high beam bulbs.

Wondering about the alignment of the low beam lights though, as the light is showing very close to the front of the car so have started a thread under lighting.
[EDIT] link is here: https://www.offroadsubarus.com/showthread.php?t=4370 [end edit]

Would appreciate anybody's thoughts.

Thanks,
