What have you done to your car today?

Best of luck with the plea Ratbag (for your SWMBO)
Having a 20+ year clean driving record I'm sure you'll be fine & have it turned into an official warning :iconwink:

I know a few people who have gone down this path & as long as you've been good for 10+ years (you've certainly done that with 20+) you'll be fine :)

Regards
Mr Turbo

I have the form of words somewhere, put the letter together for the squeeze in the middle of last year. I got the words from a colleague who did similar for his missus...

It certainly seems that more and more ordinary drivers are being pinged these days. Evidence of a greater degree of watching by 'big brother' I guess.

Thanks Mr T and Barry.

I had to do one for myself about 14 months ago (3 km/h over on Eastlink TOLL road ... :( :madred: :yell:). I have the forms, and know how to go about it.

The rules here are that you must be a clean-skin for 2 years or more, and that the speed must be less than 10 km/h over the posted limit. The alleged offence must not be of certain kinds (serious); and one must admit to the offence.
There are ways of doing this latter that are "Clayton's admissions". I know how ... :iconwink:

Foresters are great for what they are. If I were using my vehicle for farm work or out in the bush, no way would I choose a Fox ... Nowhere to put a 44 gallon drum of diesel,

There is - if you have a moonroof! (I've loaded a wheelie bin thru the moonroof)

I will be pleading for them to reduce it to an "Official Warning" ...

Shouldn't be a problem with her record - bad luck getting pinged!

Polished up Nubaru a bit......look what we found...

2013 Outback:monkeydance: CVT with flappy-paddle 6sp.
Lease was almost up, we were just never really in love with that Forester. We liked it a lot, but it was never like the original Blubaru so now we have Blu2.

...in other news, my CEL came on the other day, more later...

wow Carl, that's a pretty spectacular looking Scoobaru! ;-) ... mmm & I have one of those CELs that freaked me out when it flashed me the 1st time.... I have come to the conclusion that somewhere I have a sensor that's cracked... bcos there has been no catastrophe yet and it has been winking for 18 months or so!

PO420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold oh poop...:sadbanana:

Could mean lots of things, sounds like proper diagnosis is in order.

Sorry to hear about the CEL being thrown Carl :( thats not good at all.

The new OB looks fantastic mate :discomonkey:
I really like the colour too :raz:

Mr Turbo

Installed a dual battery system in the Foz today... Only took a few hours, just need a 100am/hr battery..

Mounted an anderson plug in the back with leads to my battery box. The battery box has 2 ciggy lighter ports on it too for accessories aswell as pos/neg terminals :)

20130120102800.jpg

-Washed over and cleaned the inside.

-Fixed some of the many rattles and squeaks that make you think the car is going to fall apart..

-Regased air con, was working fine but on really hot days only blew cool air. Turns out the gas was down 150g from the rated 650g for an SF A/C system.

-Last night I had one drink(1 can of canadian club), started driving home and 10mins later I got pulled over. Random breathalyser :( Turns out I was .046 and the limit is .05!!! F**k talk about a close one, next time I will definitely let it settle down and get off my breath first! I couldn't believe it as I am not a light weight and drink a few drinks every day.

-Finally picked up my EJ25 and started stripping it down

Didn't have a engine hoist to lift the motor but had an actual hoist so that worked :P Gotta love work after hours :)

Nice Taza !

I wanted to do the EJ 25 DOHC swap 3 years ago but all the electrical connects are different (engine came out of a '97 Legacy). Too big work for me !

Nice work & well done on the duel battery set up Taza :raz:

Great to hear you've picked up the new motor & can finally start working on it too

Nice lookin OB there Carl.

Nice work on the dual battery Taza...almost looks professional haha  I reckon you'll have a few subies lining up for your work to be done on them in no time....

That breathalyzer was a close call. Just goes to show whether you're a regular drinker or not has nothing to do with BAC...thats determined by many things incl what you've had to eat, weight, body type (eg muscle or fat), metabolic rate, etc. Just glad you scraped through :iconwink:

Bet you cant wait to have the EJ25 in...any details on which EJ25 it is?

Cañon Carver, is that a battery kill switch? We need "after" photos of the interior too :poke:

My only addition to what I have done to my Subie is I adjusted the handbrake...much better :iconwink:

Thanks for the kind words on the 'New' new Outback!!! It is sweet, drives real nice, and it is huge inside.

Did the first oil change on the new, old Outback. Also removed what was left of the belly pan, and discovered torn up steering rack boots.

Taza, have fun with the engine rebuild. The battery set up looks sweet.

Cañon Carver, can't wait to see more of the Justy build.

Thats going to be a beast when shes done Taza, you must be getting anxious to get her running

Did the 1400km run back from brisbane today, I have come home to lots of presents, my stereo, my daytime running lights and a sub woofer :lildevil: after a bit of sleep I am up for some fun

Thanks guys :) It has been awhile since I was actually able to fully take a day and work on Rusty. I hope to get a bunch done today. Need a paycheck to roll around so I can purchase the rest of the materials needed. Just think Mastercraft seats, bedliner, and ammo cans ;)

Saturday night, I nearly lost control of the forester, engine braking as slowly as I could down a steep hill. Sod that from now on, I'll be riding the brakes real slow from now on. :P

Last night I installed a LED light replacement from superbrightleds.com in my moon roof cabin light. Lovely upgrade, it's definitely brighter than the old bulb, and will likely draw less current. Win win! Have some other interior bulbs still to install, maybe I'll get to them later in the week..

I have been upgrading Rusty with all the LED's/HID's I possibly can :) It will be a brand new beastie when I am done.

That would of been good. Mine is a EJ25 SOHC from a 2003 Outback. I am just using the block with my manifold and computer. Pretty simple really

Nice work & well done on the duel battery set up Taza :raz:

Thanks, I've neatened it up since that photo... With tests it works well so should be good which I travel across Aus mid year (hopefully :iconwink:)

Great to hear you've picked up the new motor & can finally start working on it too

I can't wait, I've been having sleepless nights just thinking about it..

Haha, I don't have the time to work on any other cars. Need more time as it is. In this photo I hadn't finished it off. I have now and it's very professional. Works well in the tests and should be handy.. Means I can take the battery out too to save weight and space when I dont need it :iconwink:

I know, I freaked out... Certainly going to be more cautious now!

Yes it's from a 2003 Outback with 170,000km on the clock. I know the car from it's from and have driven it many times so I know how it goes :raspberry: Going to fully rebuild it so it'll literally be like new and should give me pretty good fuel economy and power
BTW the 2.0l manifold does bolt directly on the 2.5l block so anyone looking for cheap, easy power gains in a SF foz I'd recommend this! You don't have to rebuild it or do the extra stuff I am. It's basically a bolt in modification that'll give you 30-40% more power and 40+% more torque with very similar fuel economy.

Gidday Taza

Sounds and looks like it's all coming together well, mate.

May it continue to go smoothly for you ... :).

Nice! I think it's awesome, all the work you're putting into that Justy.

I really like the LED in my forester, looking forward to getting the rest of the interiors swapped over, it did make a nice difference at night, and it'll give me more battery life when a door is left ajar at the cottage, which is a semi regular occurrence!
