What have you done to your car today?

Not sure this is possible for 05 OBW. Doesn't seem to have the removable 'insert' of radio, etc.

Well I dont use my horn flippantly and when I do it means get out of my way/light is green/stay in your lane stuff. Good for scaring cows sitting along the road on the fence too:biggrin:

With my rego is due very soon, I thought I'd better replace the broken tail light (the globes were working just the glass was broken)

So instead of replacing just the one, I decided to add a little "bling" to my ride & replace both sides with some MY07 ones instead. :raz:

Last Friday had a sump guard fitted by SubaXtreme in Goulburn.

Have subsequently had it down the Bridle Track from Hill End to Bathurst and got it dirty on tracks in the Ricchmond Ranges. [Unfortunately couldn't get into the Washpool Wilderness as the river was up :( ]

Am now in Qld and have the wifi talking to McDonalds :D , so photos will follow.

Dropped Blubaru off for the timing belt service...now a head gasket job. I've kinda' known it for a while, coolant had been disappearing and not on the ground.

Also I got to perform an extraction the other day a friend got his Saturn mini-van stuck on an embankment in our yard. Finally got to use the tow point that I made.

Ouch! Head gaskets, that sucks! I swear I didn't do it when I drove Bluebaru. If you don't mind my asking how much does that cost now a days? We will have to do it someday on our 98. Hopefully Subaru's coolant additive will delay the inevitable until better times.

Did second oil change since the submarine adventure.
Finally put the bash plate back on and getting wheel alignment tomorrow and the nightmare is finally over!

We are looking at around $1800 including the timing belt and water pump. At 106k mi. Blu is also needing struts and the front axles are just starting to 'click'. All-in-all I must say that it's all good and once we get all this taken care of, we're looking forward to the next 100k.

150000km service plus new DBA front brake disks and pads by my friendly local mechanic. Still some clunking in the front end over bumps (anti-rollbar mounts? end links?) to sort out though, as well as a suspect O2 sensor.

Once a car gets to this mileage, there's always something to be done. Can't complain though - it still gives me the same tingles when I drive it on the right road...or non-road for that matter :-)

Haven't completely finished but spent the last few days pulling the rear interior out (damn the seats are heavy), changing the rear speakers (stock are 6" on 6x9 spacers so dropped some 6x9s in), added some dynamat throughout to help with the sound, installed 2 accessory sockets in the rear and ran the cabling through to the engine bay and installed the DIY dual battery system.

Work underway:

Stock speakers:

New speakers (Jaycar kevlars):

So, days spent pulling the interior apart and the only sign of anything are these two little sockets:

The dual battery setup:

All that's left is to wire the rear sockets to the aux battery.
