What have you done to your car today?

Took the WRX for a drive today on a motorkhana course. Car was not as good today- not sure why, and I was not at all happy with my driving- so it was probably me. Still had a ball- the crowd seemed to enjoy it at least. But it was pretty sloppy and too many errors. Maybe next time.

G'day again Taz

It is the right grade of oil, the right GPI (GPI 5 I think it is), it's just 90W rather than 70 so it's real thick. A $120 for the oil I don't really want to waste it otherwise I would.

I can understand not wishing to chuck $120 away mate, but if the box is supposed to be running 70 weight, and you have 90 weight in it, that's not the right grade of oil.

I do not know what damage that can potentially cause, but it is certainly not a good idea ...

Maybe someone who understands the possible outcomes could chime in here?

And I thought my Forester looked stock height... still needs more lift :iconwink: :lildevil:

The extra height your Forry has looks great  compared to the lowered Forry thats parked on the left of yours :)

The warranty for the box I only 6months or 12,000km, which ever comes first.
Yours only came with a 6mth/12k warranty
I find that strange. I got mine from the same place (I think) & got a 12mth/20k warranty

That one next to mine isn't lowered, it's stock height. Mines got about the same clearance as your Forester, just without the front and rear bar :iconwink:

Maybe they changed their policy or something... I could of got a longer warranty but at extra cost.
I find mine isn't very smooth, my old box was smoother in every gear except 1st. I think it's the extremely thick oil I used.

maybe they read taza's driving habits on here :rotfl::iconwink:

I doubt it. I'm not as hard on it as I make out. I don't call speeding or changing gears at 5000rpm hard on it either.

Did you use SIN GEAR OIL 75 - Penrite Oil like last time? If so its 75W-90 so a great replacement oil for maximum protection. Possibly helped your old box last so long after it first developed problems.

OK Taza...back to the studies mate :poke:

No it was abit different. repco didn't have that when I went in. That stuff was really really good in my old box though! Will be going it again. I did use Penrite stuff but it was 90w-??

OK Taza...back to the studies mate :poke:

Believe me I'm prepared. Anymore study will kill me, I reckon i've done 35-40hours this week!

I think your might actually have a tad more clearance than mine to tell the truth.

We both have raised springs and Subtle Solution lift blocks. You have 215/65R16 tyres right?

I have slightly bigger tyres too so about the same. You have a much better approach and departure angle front and rear though :iconwink:

I think living with "The Doctor" makes rust a bit of an issue with all the salt in the air. For those overseas, the "Freemantle Doctor" is the nickname for the seabreeze that sweeps in virtually every afternoon in W.A. It helps keep the temps down but also brings moisture and salt...and rust! :(

Thanks for elaborating on the Freemantle Doctor, Nachaluva. I am familiar with the Doctor from sailing. But I was unaware that it had an impact on Subarus as well. :raw:

Nice volley of pictures, Taza. That new gearbox sure is shiny. Here in America, we would call that "Bling Bling."

PS: Did you try putting those teeth under your pillow for the Tooth Fairy?

Ah yes, that wonderful period when we won the Americas Cup for the first time in history. Despite the rules being changed mid series and various sabotage threats, from divers to submerged nets, we managed to win anyway against a vastly more influential and financial competitor. Us Aussies love "stickin it to da man!" :monkeydance:

We then introduced the world to "The Doctor" and promptly lost :rotfl:

Aussies tend to be pretty lazy in our speech, we just call it "bling" lol :rotfl:

Hahaha :rotfl:

The gearbox tooth fairy...I can just picture a large, hairy, heavy-metal kinda guy in a tutu :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That seems like a heck of a lot of dosh for two front wheel bearings!

Commiserations, mate :(

Hope he did an alignment in that price as well ...

Nice that you have your new rubber.

Bugger about the rear shock (strut?) :(.

Yes those mods & tyre sizes are correct :iconwink:
And having front & rear bars really does help & makes a huge difference offroading :raz:
