What have you done to your car today?

went for a 4x4 behind the beach at a lake, nice and muddy for the brumby (only went down to the beach to fish) and come home washed it and found that i now have a split drive shaft boot spilling grease over everything! just one more thing to spend money on

Installed Kartboy "STi pink" exhaust hangers. My stock(?) midpipe hanger was about an inch longer than the replacement but everything tucked up nicely and still clears the heatshields.

Also went to replace the air filter, the bottom of the box had a bit of silt in it. I removed the box and took it inside to show my wife. With a very serious face I told her "Guess it's time for a snorkel" shrugging my shoulders:lildevil:
Not quite sure she bought it...

Be very careful... :iconwink:

Have had a worsening knock in the front right drive shaft / cv joint(s) for a while :( , so on Friday I booked the car in with my mechanic for this morning.

He apologised this morning that the new shaft hadn't arrived as yet, but told me it is being replaced under warranty. So, new shaft tomorrow at no $ for me!

Fitted my new 'Cushie' 'blue tooth' & i-pod connection to my radio on Saturday.

Still having difficulty getting it to stay connected to my phone. Haven't tried it with an I-pod as yet.

Woohoo :monkeydance:

Tooooo late. Got a new headlight and indicator. Went muddning at the pines tonight in the L-Series.
Drowned her :(
Not hydrolocked, just got the electrics wet and water in/on the dizzy or spark plugs. Didn't have any WD40 with me to clean them and couldn't get it to run on more than 1 cylinder. Was alternating between 1-3 cylinders. Going to have to wait for it to dry or for me to look at it. lol
Towed her home in Perths huge storm which was a mission and a half. Vids to come (remind me if I forget)

:shake:

Dude...thats not bad luck lol :poke:

At least the engine wasnt hydrolocked. I have a lil mini can of WD40 in my car all the time. I know the 1st time its not there I'll need it!

Good point, Nachaluva! I've been assembling a dedicated toolbag for my Foz, and there's a can of WD40 in it. But the bag and can are still sitting in my living room instead of the Forester's boot. :raz:

I have driven my car through deep water and never had an issue. You may wish to check your leads, etc to make sure they are all good. Maybe with age they are starting to crack and letting in water?

poor l series

New cv joints all round, but had to replace the boots. A result of driving with the lift.
8 boots = $144 dollars. $18 dollars each, not too bad I guess.

Also, a new oil filler cap - the rubber on the old one was stuffed. Hopefully this will reduce my oil loss.

Anyway, fit to play again.

Also spent a bit of time pricing tyres for the GFs Hyundai Santa FE.
With prices of between $250 and $212 for 235 65/R17 Khumos I have yet another reason to love driving my OB.

Got back this afternoon from offroading the forester.
Swapped the batteries back between the L and the foz (had to change them lastnight so I could have hazards on in the L while towing it).
Fired up first crank and on all 4 cylinders. i think it was just water in the Dizzy, must of dried out over night :D

Heaps of sick vids of the Foz offroading today to be posted! Went through some really deep water that came half way up the windscreen at one point!! :D Didn't break anything but Stilson did a sidewall on one of his tyres.

Glad to hear that you didn't hydrolock your L series mate.
Hopefully, as you said, it was just a little water in the Dizzy.

Looking forward to seeing the vids when you get a chance to load them up :raz:

Regards
Mr Turbo

glad there isnt to many injuries

Went mudding after the powerlines yesterday. The foz fell in the same hole that the L-Series did but with more water in it. The whole drivers side went in as I was going sideways sliding. Had water upto the side windows(maybe part way up, I wasn't really paying attention to that), again half over the bonnet and the whole drivers fender(basically the whole drivers side of the car) was in. Planted my foot and I luckily had enough momentum to get out!

Thunder, sorry i don't have any pics of the L or my foz going under though.

Heres a few teaser pics anyway.

One of the puddles which was deep, had the water over the bonnet and upto the windscreen. Stilson has a video of me going through :D
