What factors make Off Road Ability?

That fuel usage is off the charts. Painful.
i think most overland offr oad cars that build for traveling lifted with mud tires will use a lot fuel ,specially if its petrol. if you can afford Porsche you might afford put fuel into it too. Though i looked Cayennes from 2004-2005 here are pretty cheap even like starts at 2k with some problems and maybe 4-5k in good shape. i payed 4k for mine and now have problems as well that need to fix and they wont be cheap i think.
that guy said with that cayenne on highways driving normally its pretty good on fuel, thats was just worse case as in mud doing off road in one place just having fun thats bad for any car . so i would rather have very powerfull car that would use little more fuel but would go like hell, then have like mine its kinda powerfull but its dull and cant do much in hard situations, still same time can drink even over 20l in off road easily.

lada niva 4x4 but its pickup and then they put on it toyota W8 engine and patrol axles i think and patrol gearbox that in the end was like ending ..bbut they make those kind of cars and then they sell it . its not made for someone its made for someone to want it and buy it .

This is why we need higher profile tyres. The ability to air down is second to none.

Also, the lightweight nature of Subarus help a lot in situations like this, although it looks like the LR is carrying too much. It's not uncommon for users to overload their vehicles today as accessories are flooding the market and retailers are even offering financing for those.

Yh overloading is biggest enemy of any car that want go off road. Thats why im trying just go all soft bags no boxes no wood no heavy stuff. Soft bags easy to relocate to other places inside car or roof rack where you want and more separate bags for every thing better. Some could be droped behinds seats if no passengers .
Airing down will do more then lockers .
I think on that video they picked diff lines as well. Picking line or slightly diff angle might just be enough or get you stuck. But let light car go first is right way to do that as lighy car after heavy car might have more problems to follow specially if clearance not same

another russians putting EZ30 into older forester. its earlier EZ30 from 2nd gen outbacks not later ones, less electronics less pain to pu it there.
custom made front struts , they said original strut had 15cm of travel and lift spacers on top, now they have custom made ones with toyota insides 27cm of travel. those i would need . springs there from Delica.
man i need some custom made struts for would solve all problems.

@ABFoz looks like we have photo evidence of the passive CVT cooler in the SK. You had provided a picture of the passive cooler here: https://www.offroadsubarus.com/threads/what-factors-make-off-road-ability.6867/post-112788

And today I was checking the subaruforester.org forums and ran into this thread about a oil catch-can installation. See ('19+) - Another catch can install

And right there in photo 3, there is the CVT passive cooler (poster alludes to it at end of his 2nd para). Now that I have some idea where to look for will try to locate in my SK.

Love those Russians and how they adapt everything to the Foresters ! But the Delica springs seem to be too firm as they don't compress much under load. Do you know what Toyota inserts have that much of a travel, 27 cm ?

he doesnt say which ones just he said they are capsules are changeable. maybe those delica springs works ok in that stuff. similar as my thoughts , they think same as to find what is allready made and use it ,then its cheaper.
i think any strut that could give you all that travel instead of using spacers on top is good choice already.

nice extreme tires on that forester. not for road at all didint knew people using those on subarus as well, as if muds would be not enough ?

Hmmmmm - not exactly treading lightly! The car is taking a bit of a beating!

i guess when you buy some rusty body cheap forester so you dont care so much about its body just engine , then you can just lift it put better tires and test it. remove bumpers and such and see how far it will go and how long it will work. Everything is just cheap about those cars even change whole engine, even here that job is cheap , really cheap so thats why people risk with them more.
but you need to make that decision at first like im buying car not for daily driving but just for off road. then all is good.

Could you imagine how noisy that would be?
Horrendous!

anything that takes off fun factor from all this is not worth, for me not worth is full autopilot , i just wann drive car because its gives me pleasure and fun and sometimes adrenaline. if not i would just choose go on bus or taxi. so for me tesla electric taxi cars is NO for me. i want to drive myself thank you. cruise control is enough to relax your feet. thats enough.
its shame Elon not interested in off road cars at all. Tesla are pretty capable in off road but they just too low for that. airs suspension would solve that if it could lift car really high like audi , vw , porsche. China/lprea will solve those problems rly fast i think, they all ready had those cars and will just evolve from there. E-car just need proper off road mode and it would destroy any petrol/diesel off road cars out there.

for me not worth is full autopilot ,
I'm soooo looking forward to full autopilot.
  1. Full autopilot will make the long road stretches so much nicer and leave me much more refreshed for the interesting bits (like setting up the camper. groan)
  2. When it's ubiquitous (love that word) the roads will be safer.
