SUMO Project Forester
We start our new project tomorrow @ 6am. This may not be for everyone but it will do what we need it to do. Will post updates as the vehicle takes shape. Don't want to list too many things until they are happening as they may change as we build. Teaser pic. Does this tire make my ..... look big? Instead of building a kit and then finding tires to fit we found the tires and are building the kit to fit.
Non Subaru build thread
So on the advice of Ratbag, I have decided to start a build thread for one of my projects. MODS FEEL FREE TO MOVE THIS IF IT'S OUT OF PLACE BEING NOT SUBARU It's a 91 Y60 "GQ" Nissan patrol, it started life as a 4.2 petrol wagon, it belonged to a friend of mine, he only had it for a few months before the lack of maintance from previous owners bit him in the donkey. He bought a dual cab 89 GQ and used the wagon as a parts car to get the dual cab up to scratch, then sold it to my brother for the princely sum of $50. After my brother tore out the power windows for his ute and then the front diff housing after he bent his, he gave it to me. Here it is after I striped the body off and was ready to drag it home. I love the oxy set :cool...
obsessed - this is my Foz
my foz is normally a road hugger - 17" alloys and sitting on coil overs. it is about to be lifted back up and new wheels and offroad rubber installed for a bit more dirty fun and camping. this was the 1st lifting of my foz a few years ago. was lifted pedders springs on custom struts - we cut the spring seats loose and then rewelded them about 2" higher on the strut body. the 2nd pic has neither front of rear sway bar attached. the foz is slightly modded in the go fast and handling areas at the moment, the power will stay but the suspension is in the midst of an offroad over haul. nothing to extreme but will make it more fun in the dirt. the go fast bits are : VF28 turbo apexi power fc apexi avcr sti tmic silicon 3"...
The "STUMPY"...!
Hello good folks! My BigStick arrived today so I slapped it on the rear windshield as quickly as I could. Thanks carljwnc for the quick delivery:iconwink:. The car feels very very tough now and it goes well with my FORESTER rear brake light!:discomonkey: Ok so to cut a long story short. My Fozz is currently sitting on WRX STi suspension so the OEM unit will be installed back in a few weeks time. Im quite excited to begin the cars transformation and enjoy the dirt once again much like the old times. WISHLIST: Re-install OEM suspension (in 3 weeks time) Re-install cargo barrier (This weekend) YOKO GEO AT's (but some BFG rubbers would be great!) Sump Protector/skid plate Rally style mudflaps (must be RED) Roof basket UHF Radio +...
Viejopedorro's 2012 X 5mt hitch winch cargo mods The ride is called La Tortuga. Haven't had her long--just got her first oil change at the stealership. She gets three for "free," then its back to DIY maintenance and Jiffy-Lube style oil changes for El Pedorro. La Tortuga's first mod was a Curt 1-1/4" (3cm) hitch receiver. Second was a Harbor Freight (cheap) 3000lb winch, with about 12 feet (4M) of #4 (8mm) insulated cable from stock battery location to the spare tire tub area, and a 6' (2M) "remote" in/out switch and its relay box. The winch is mounted under the spare tire tub, exposed to the elements but hidden from view and well within the departure angle from bumper to tire contact area. The 12V supply wires exit the spare tire...
scooby's foz
I purchased a '98 foz S model. 2.5l, 4eat, lsd.. I love this rig..after having an outback and hatchie..It's the perfect fit. Rusty, The Faithful Justy
Hey guys, my name is Jamie, and this is my Justy build. Photoshop provided by DrakeHale33 of RS25.com :) Ever since I have been into Subaru’s I have wanted a 4x4 Justy. Last Christmas my wife gave me Rusty :) She bought him off of her Brother’s roommate for $500. Included in the sale were 2 sets of steel wheels, a complete 2nd engine (<future turbo build ;)) and a box of assorted parts. All I can say is I love my Wife ;) This car is currently serving as my DD until my OBS is back on the road. I own several Subaru’s, but this one is in all honesty my favorite, lol. Well, enough chit-chat, on to the good stuff . Drivetrain: -Stock 1.2L 3 cyl -OE Air Intake Covered in Heat Reflective Tape -5spd W/ Push Button 4WD Interior...

Taza's 2001 Forester
I bought my Subaru Forester last year in May 2010 as my first car. It is a 2001 Limited that had 119,000km on the clock, was a 5 speed mnaul with dual range transmission and was completely stock. I wanted a car I could go down the beach and do light offroading in but didn't want a big, expensive 4x4. Since then my unknown passion for cars, mechanics, Subaru's and offroading has all come out. After one week of having it I tried it out on the sand dunes and was very impressed, even with the car being stock with highway tyres. (insert picture here) Modifications done to my Forester since I have had it. Firstly I removed all the plastics, like the nudge bar, headlamp protectors, fog lamp protectors, bonnet protectors, etc... Added some...

The Brumby Rebuild
Hi guys, as you might know I'm rebuilding my '90 model Brumby and thought I might start a thread with pics on the strip down and rebuild. These ones are the most recent with the whole back end taken out, cleaned up and the 2" lift blocks going in. Decided to give the diff a new paint job while it was out. more pics to come
G’day all! I am new to the forums and new to this idea of moding. *I own a ’09 Forester XS and* I currently live in Hastings, Vic, Aus. *I would like to make my Forester more offroad capable. *I am really keen to get out and about and off the beaten track, offroading, camping, skiing, Mt biking, and go out on some trips with a club. I THINK I have a rough idea what I’m doing. I would love some tips, advice, help choosing, products, contacts, expertise, etc. I have a budget for everything I’m thinking of doing and will try stick to it but I don’t want to compromise on quality so it may have to be done in several stages. *Also, I am keen to do it all myself to learn more and have that pride in it, I think I have the expertise but...
as the title states was driving home and my car blew up :( i has filled up with petrol about 20km before hand and the car was servely lacking power and was surging. i thought is was the clutch so i thought i would just limp it home as i was on the highway when this happened. any how got to pentland hill near buccusmarsh for thoes in vic. anyway going up the hill i noticed that it didnt feel like clutch slip so was getting very worried, now in fourth unable to do the speed limit i pulled over. poped the hood and it was idling like a pig. i needed to keep driving so i could over in a safer place so went about another 2km then all of sudden a lot of smoke behind me and a trail of oil . popped the bonnet oil every were, no power...
Now with a name, cargo barrier and a good 'scrub', my 05 manual NA 'Safety' Outback is being prepped for our Cameron Corner trip. I will use this Journal to record whatever 'tweaks' I think of / implement, what works and what doesn't. Comments and questions welcome along the way. Right now off to bed - 5.00am start to try and get good AFL Preliminary Finals tickets. "Go the Mighty Magpies!" :iconwink:
Howdy Folks, You guys are building 'em a lot closer to what I hope to achieve with the 2006 Subaru Forester 2.5l X I purchased summer 2011 so I've decided I'm moving my build journal over here. My goal is to build a mini-overland vehicle with all-wheel drive capable of taking me from the north end of North America to the south end of South America. The trip is more of a dream than anything else, but who knows, maybe some day I'll be able to put it together and make it happen. In the mean time, my hobbies tend to focus my attention on the outdoors and my work necessitates a lot of long distance travel. Both of these routine endeavors are a whole lot easier and cheaper if I'm self sufficient. Living Quarters (complete) Maggiolina...
4 day overland expedition
I apologize to those of you who might be members of the expedition portal forum as I posted something similar there. For the others, here's some pictures of a little expedition I just did with some friends with 2 jeeps and a fjcruiser. we left montreal and went north for a 1600km(1000milles) trip with about 900km of it being offroad. We drove some parts of major logging roads(gravel) but mainly stayed on snowmobile trails. I had to prove my 4x4 driving buddies that my subie can do some serious offroading:rock: and I've got to admit that I wanted to see myself how capable it was, since lately I've been thinking about buying a landrover or a toyota tacoma but economy being what it is,work is pretty slow so I'll have to stick with my...
Have a 07 outback that has had problems with cruise control since purchased new. When in cruise and kicks back to 3rd gear on a rise, often ( but not always) wont change back to 4th when back on flat. Have to disengage crusie control for it to change gear. Have raised the problem at every service, but because an intermitent problem hasn't been rectified. Anyone else had a similar problem? Any ideas on how can be fixed would be welcome as it's a pain, particularly when towing my small van.
I have always been a Jeep guy. About a year and a half ago I bought a new 2010 Jeep Wrangler for my Wife. I was currently driving a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 1/4 million miles on it. This thing was on its last leg. So while purchasing the new Wrangler I told the owner of the car business to be on the lookout for a nice used SUV or 4x4 truck. She said she would. About two weeks later she called me and said she had a one owner 2001 forester that was just taken in on a trade. I was a little hesitant but drove down the next day. The forester had 125k, new timing belt, and was in great shape. The previous owner was a med student and all service records were in line. My gut was telling me to buy this forester. Said and done I paid...
