Subara Forester
Subara - this my little son version of the brand name Actually its sound more like Subaa (he is 2.5 year old) Anyway , i bought it stock from Shortline After a week i put a window tint and window deflectors and dash mat (all that not just fancy stuff but very usefull in Colorado, where the sun one mile closer to everybody )))) , ok deflectros more fancy than usefull Today i got lift kit from Subtle And im waiting for skid plates from Primitive rear and front Hopefully they a real deal and not just nice to have .... When i will get all togather i will put my Subaa to the shop to get it done
Not a Suby, but I got a new trail rig.....
First things first I need to fix some rust in the cargo area floor. After that's all repaired I will be POR-15 ing the entire interior floor area and "undercoating" with truck bed liner. Anyway, this is a 1975 VW type 2 with a non pop top Westfalia conversion. It has a full width fold out bed, sink and ice box as well as a kitchen table :) As all the 70's tastic wood veneer is peeling off I will be removing it all and refinishing the Baltic birch underlayer on the cabinets and the headliner (wood headliner) The ugly green carpet is being replaced with wood flooring (probably going with cork). After all that is finished we need to make a big decision, to paint or not to paint. The exterior was spray painted by the previous owner, but...
Taza's $300 L-Series
I need to continue and finish the journal for my Forester but I will start one for this anyway. While the Foz is being repared (new gearbox, engine work, subaxtreme bullbar fitment and finish off the supercharger) I bought a cheap L-Series from gumtree. Cost $300 and its a 91 L-series Sportswagon, 230,000km on the clock, smooth gearbox, engine runs really well but dies on idle and doesn't blow any smoke at all! The body is in great condition for a car thats 21years old. A few dents but can all be popped out. No rust at all, and barely any on the exhaust. Needs a new front CV, has a small oil leak (not going to fix it), 3 bald tyres, engine dies on idle, temp guage doesn't work and no stereo or immobilser.. Just gotta do a few things...
Steve's Journal - MY07 Forry
Hi to everyone on ORS! I hope you’re all well. I’ve been trawling this forum for some time and been learning a lot through reading what you’re all doing. I thought it was about time I introduce myself and start a journal I hope can grow. So, I grew up sitting in the back of my Mum & Dad’s MY83 Wagon on trips in the Subaru 4WD Club of Victoria from when I was about 3 til 13 years. They were awesome times doing all sorts of grades of trips and watching a pretty large convoy of Subies do all sorts of tracks and get to some pretty amazing places. Not to mention meeting some terrific people along the way. Now at 28, I’ve finally bought my dream car – a Subie. Just a couple of months ago I found a great MY07 Forester X… and I love it...
Project Rear Bar
Well, pretty much 5 years in the planning, one unit built about 4 years ago for Engineers testing and some pretty shoddy drawings saw this project parked till technology could catch up. Now, what with plasma and laser cutters that can extrude up to 2 inch thick steel plate and software that can create all your sheets metal templates and export the design, cut and bend all to near mm precision has now seen this project reborn from the ashes. Project Rear Bar is back on the drawing board and in CAD design phase. Here is a sample of the partial design concept: This is the stress analysis with results at point of material fatigue and failure. Pretty impressive stuff. I've come up with my own rear recovery system that allows for...
Blue Fox 2.0 - 2005 FXT
Blue Fox Journal 2.0 Yes, unless you frequent SubaruForester.org often, then you heard correctly. Blue Fox 2.0, the (new to me) 2005 Subaru Forester XT 5-Speed to replace my 2004 XT. I know I haven't posted here in quite some time, and major apologies for that. It's been a rather hectic time over the past few months. First, the bankruptcy, moving out of state........and of course........the crash. So I guess I should start with the crash, being that's the reason why there is the Foz 2.0 in the first place. Without typing out the whole thing and making this post a million words long, below is the link to the SF.org thread I started for it..... https://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f98/no-more-foz-105107/ And the images below...
My new tyre inflator.
I think my Chinese compressor stopped pumping properly last time I used it (haven't bothered to check it yet) but I've been trying to work out an easier way than taking it out of the box, opening bonnet, connecting to the battery then lugging it from tyre to tyre and I've come up with this, it's untested as of yet because we could only get 130psi out of his compressor and it'll safely hold 220psi. Anyhow I spotted it in the Quokka a few weeks ago for $50, it'd been in there for ages but I rang and it was still available so offered $40 over the phone and he accepted so I drove 5min up the road & grabbed it.......a near new 4kg extinguisher. I took it to Seagulls place tonight and he had all the bits needed to sort it out so here it is...
Well, i got the new used motor in (27k miles, woo!) figured now would be a good time to start my journal. so far: car has CAI back on (AEM) Plans: have my plug wires sitting in the back seat going to be ordering o2 sensors and spark plugs (Bosch fusion and probably bosch o2) setting up new exhaust (cutting 2nd cat and back off, flowmaster super 40 with tips) CB Whips (sick of my magnetic one, going duals!) possibles(checking pricing): oil pressure/temperature gauges struts/springs (leaning towards junkyard outback OEMs to start if price is right) Hitch (for custom rack in the back or... towing? doubt it but it'd be nice) WRX seats (very very low priority) other random crap

MY03 XS Forester
We brought it around a year ago and my wife uses it as her run around car. After moving to Adelaide we decided to make it a little bit more off road friendly so we could get out and explore the state a little. The car was completely stock with all the factory goodies, leather, sunroof etc. Since then we have added a aftermarket head deck to get rid off that outdated tape deck, windows tinted and new rubber Yoko Geolanders 215/65/16s for more grip and little extra clearance. After testing the tyres on the sand (Goolwa beach) they worked brilliantly even though I only aired down to 30psi as the beach is hard packed, until you head up towards the end at the mouth of the murray where it was very boggy and churned up, we powered through...
Domindart's journal- 2004 forester, turbo, auto
I guess Ill make a journal here too, I already have one at the other subaru forum. Mine here will be a little different than mine there. So go see my other one too if ur interested! Ill start the journal by mentioning the specifics. 2004 Subaru forester XT auto silver Bought at a Volkswagon dealer on I believe 5-31-11. Aprox mileage when bought would be 94,300... Got into an accident around June 10. Rearended a large pickup truck on highway. I think someone slammed on the brakes a few cars up. Not sure, I rearended someone once before in the Mustang. I wasnt watching the road! :p Dont know if thats what happened again but ANYWAY!!.... Car was in shop for what felt like a month. Fixed at a Subaru dealership. I was...
Phiz's 99 Outback
Alright, it just occurred to me I haven't posted anything about my Outback on this forum! Well, here is the little story. Bought from Pickles Storm Damage Auctions I picked up this 99 Outback full of dents for $2250. Flew down to Melbourne and drove it home under a permit. Due to living in SA I needed to fix the damage to get it registered. So I started work on patching the dents and repairing the broken windows. The rear right shocker was leaking oil, so I bought some KYB Excel G's (which are the same as GR2's). Here is what the paint turned out like.. Well it looks a fair bit better in the photos, actually can still see dips and sanding scratches under the paint but it is good enough for me and it was my very...
2001 Outback
As the various mods are piling up i though i might share what i have done. I bought my Outback in Feb 2010, a few months before I turned 18. It was the cheapest one I could find and afford and it had about 185,000km on it. When i found it i loved it straight away. Stock: Mods and other various bits and pieces. 1. Got rid of the stock double DIN head unit and replaced it with a new single DIN JVC head unit with Ipod interface. Got a second pocket to fill the void left from the double DIN headunit. (Insert pic) 2. The dual mass flywheel was replaced with a single flywheel after the clutch went. New heavy duty clutch. 3. Got rid of the plastic sump guard and made my own out of some 3 or 4( forgot how thick) mm thick aluminium...
