2006 Outback 3.0R 180kw VDC project

so new car , new project m new plans for it , and gathering new info what could be done witt it and choosing what fits me

examples for myself how lift would look with my rims and how bumper cut would look

so normal steps for me do lift at least as much as in that pic, and then maybe cut bumper

car how its sits now, how +5cm would look and then +7cm wheel is in the air
would need bigger tires for better look there.

Coil leads. perhaps try wiggling them while engine is running?
You'd have to replace the whole thing I guess

didint helped moved all wires there and such. found that cyl 1 coil socket was almost loose so put there some tensioners , but that was not problem. i mean yes i heard how works engine without 1 cyl and its not shaking that much or clicking , its something else there. clicks still there , more like rattling , will check exhaust more maybe tomorrow, but its hard for myself to check that as when engine on idle cant hear so much, when i accelerate i hear some like whistle from catalyst area and not sure what that is . maybe its just leak from connection from catalyst to resonator so will see that maybe tomor, but no moving wires didint changed that for now at least. but dissconecting one of injectors like cyl 2 does almost same effect i thought it would be more impact when one cyl not working proper.

Check for vacuum leaks
I know that when a vacuum hose came of the SVX it certainly ran like a dog, but high revs were affected considerably more than low revs. I suppose that different vacuum hoses may cause different problems, but I've got no idea how many vacuum hoses are used (or for that matter, what they actually the vacuum does)

Its more underneath car not in engine bay more like exhaust itself. Ppl say if exhaust leaks in catalyst area engine will click too.

So was pooring rain all night took car to work. Switched to lpg and its died in middle of road and i guess i made wrong thing to do on auto gearbox when car still rolling but stalled i turn wheel and parked it to side of road until it stopped itself and then on petrol it gave me p0725 error with cyl2 missfire and with p0700 so those errors. Someone said it got those errors after pushed auto car to side of road. Maybe they will delete then with battery dissconnect but more curious that with lots water on roads on lpg i got then cyl 2and cyl6 missfires though yesterday before rain all was good so water again caused coils problems i guess. Or more like wires caused... hmm
Drove to work on petrol with those 3 errors on delete them couple times but they came on again.
So something new to think of again there. Guess those p0725 errors i got just because kinda drove stalled car on drive position to side of road. That was not good but i couldnt just stopped in midle of road car was there driving.

When i checked before vacum i mean via torque app it showz vacum and it seeed like it was ok. Not sure some hiss or whistle sound kind of but from under where i sit in car when i open door reving and listen its just there where catalysts are. Could be after catalyst not sure or before them. Its not so sounds on idle revs that i could check myself just when giving more revs.
But then maybe sound could come from engine working not smooth not sure maybe catalyst broken inside and making weird noises.
Now will see into those.hope those just came because car died suddenly and still drove some distance in gear and it could be deleted from ecm with hard reset.

so those errors gone , and next day after its drying or smt it drove home on lpg as well, so its something new everyday. touched wires moved them folded them, checked voltage on wires again , all good , voltage comes, no Ohms between ground and socket with ignition off , so must be all ok with them, must be...
other thing my radiator was leaking as you know so i didint changed it yet but i put radiator stop leak stuff into it, and drove with it, now its overheating on idle revs , guess that stuff is clogging something there or smt, though it says that its fine to drive with it . so on idle revs temp goes up to 115 celcious if doing driving like torturing car in that state temp rises up to 120 , then when driving on road it drops into normal state.
so think i need change radiator or at least remove it and see if i could find where it leaks, and as everything for 3.0 models will cost more, everything for 2.5 models are just cheaper in scrapyard thats the rule i guess.
so riadator leaks thats ok , but sterring rack leaks thats need to be removed if try to fix , for what i would need some stuff for foxing like sealants or smt there that i would need to change.
then engine not working ok and if its valves thats pretty bad . people here buying foresters for 600 and changing engine in them for 100 , i need minimum 600 for valves adjustment and engine alone is about 1k or more. so yh prices differences are just nice .
i maybe could adjust valves myself maybe which i would nee to lift engine up , maybe i could lift it even , but i need those things that you change to adjust valves and those i duno where to get. and it would take long time.
and car drives one moment it drives other moment it feels like working on 5 cyls or smt, then later it works kinda ok again.
found exhaust leak but its right after that 3rd catalyst thingy that connects 2 catalysts to one, so its after catalyst so it shoudnt be problem for engine work i guess.
ohh and sometimes i hear weird sound like something would move or rattle inside catalyst or inside exhaust tubes , so maybe catalysts are shot allready there. with all those cyl missfire driving with it it could destroy those catalyst i think. so maybe catalyst cuting off job is close too.
yh sometimes im just tired of this car allready for real. because i dont know what to do with it of how to find real problem not just guessing like mechanics do : ohh engine is shaking then must be valves. nice guess man, thanks.

i put radiator stop leak stuff into it,

The only reason I would ever use that stuff is if I was stuck in the middle of a desert and even then as an absolute last resort!

I understand, @scalman. You are not alone when it comes to the quirks of troubleshooting an EZ30. It is already a complicated engine and you are dealing with two fuel systems, making it even more complicated.

With the condition of your engine, it can be said that the previous owner(s) surely did skimp a lot on maintenance.

@ABFoz Well most times with lpg if petrol works ok then lpg is fine its more sensitive to problems so in some way its good because where petrol could kinda pass on problem and go lpg will have harder time. And then lpg when its switches to lpg its taking that last moment from petrol so if petrol was not doing fine lpg will do even worse.
In most times in good working cars you just wont noticed that you drive on lpg. Guess i got here more problematic case and because i want solve most myself i got to learn lots new stuff here.
Much easier just leave car for mechanic and wait untill it will be fixed and its done, but i want to see where it will lead me. Sure i made mistakes and such but thats how we learn new things by trying at least.
And sadly most ppl localy just bashing me for that like its stuping thing to do and such so im not getting any local help from local subaru people. Well fine then i dont need any. Will manage somehow myself

Agreed. That's the DIY spirit, @scalman! Imagine when you get to make your BP run in tip-top condition. That will be extremely satisfying. The mechanics would do the things you are doing, anyway, but they usually cost a lot.

So the noise that you are experiencing comes from a hole in the header/exhaust near the catalyst?

flushed out that coolant with stop leak stuff , then washed all with water from hose, then put coolant system flashing stuff , let it work for 7 min then flashed that out, washed again with water until water from engine and radiator was coming clean, then put new coolant. tried bleed air as much as i could and drove for some time. on road it sits on about 95 or lower, depends from speed on idle went to 100 but not more, maybe still some air in system, but now feels much better. driving itself didint changed its better on petrol little worse on lpg , and im thinking do trip to sea at saturday in this state, will be about 500-600km trip mostly on highways. would be nice that errors would go away on high speeds o i could use cruise. thats only reason. on 2001 i could use cruise with check engine light on, on this not anymore , here with check engine light TC and cruise comes off too. why it takes cuise i dont know... or maybe i do on last model cruise was by physical steel cable , and now its by wire so thats why... yup. good.
still rattles on low revs more when they fall down , but sometimes its not rattle more on cold car. duno maybe i need change oil. i changed it about half year ago i think. it rattles when from low revs im trying to move so raising revs and with it it ratlles until it goes to higher revs. again why im hearing it from inside but its not that loud almost no sound from outside car ?
could it rattle where my steering rack leaking , maybe it loose there ?
worst case if its rattle something in engine then it will end baldy but what that could be and for what reason it started just couple days ago. for me its more like bad ignition or bad cylinder work like bad fuel mix so its bad ignition there... but its just some wild guess. but thats wont stop me to drive it, just would be nice to have cruise working so i could rest there just steer.

Removed headers for it was leak there in the end after last catalyst and looked in to exhaust and that 1 cylinder exhaust all black compare to other ones kinda clean. So something going on there maybe

Those look very clean, except for the lowest cylinder on the upper-right photo.

Is that part of the exhaust on the lower-right photo cracked or is it just the surface?

Looks like it's just about to come off to me..!

Yh its was about to come off so i welded it around , cleaned some more here and there and put all back , will do longer drive today with camping overnight with 4 more people so will see how it feels and drives.

nice trip one night sleeping camping, 5 persons ,2 in car 2 in one tent and 1 in other tent, with all sleeping bags , food bags, our matress for car, so all was not fitting in trunk anymore needed to put some in roof rack, first time anything for camping was carried in roof rack. if had there some box like plastic aluminum , could put even more stuff there maybe, like things that i keep in trunk like recovery gear air compressor some other bags, tools fits on sides in trunk so tools are fine there with matress and sleeping they good but couple extra things still need to be moved around before sleeping.

driving at higher speeds and like swinging on not even asphalt felt different of course with 3 extra adults in rear car was more swinging up and down and maybe some more to sides , but thats normal i guess it cant be same driving as just with 2 persons in car. but in all was fine.
of course car didint felt itself fine as driving with errors rattling on low revs and such so im not happy of that for sure , as for crousing around car i would choose legacys then or smt why i need lifted outback to make it even more lifted . maybe even too much lifted. i wanted to do at least some off road and it this state it just cant , car cant do nothing on low revs. on road it can but not off road. so that will need for fixing maybe even lifting engine if nothing else will help then those valves will need to be done. not sure yet how as i dont have money for that job at mechanic place.
will still maybe one more thing , drive to some people who know subarus like mechanics but for subarus more, and let them drive and tell me what is wrong with it. is it really only valve job and nothing else. so bad valve on one cylinder can make car into limbo state then and act this weird ? well this hard question i guess.

about camping sleeping in trunk of this car seems like its better on this then on older model and now rear seat just goes down and front seat goes front all and then that back of front seat goes all down until it reaches rear seat and making it allmost flat surface, sadly not tottaly flat but it makes your are just so much longer as you can how use front seat area too. so its nice sleeping place there or leave front seat fully in front and just put boxes in that gap that would work too i guess.
sad that engine or something there is not fine now. yes it drives but with error codes and now it even drops too rich fuel mix code on me. why too rich fuel now ? yh who knows.

Someone did morning pics while i slept.
That fire place was great , we sit near it like half night there i was just going to look for new wood on ground from time to time no need large peaces just branches that are dry on ground. Even coocked some sausages there. Just great small box, newer knew its so simple to have proper fire place allmost anywhere you want even where you not suppose to have fire. Just poured lots water before going sleep on it and its done. Other people there where staying in proper camping area with tables under roof and fire places ,but it was all full there so i just thought to keep some distance at least and it was great.
We had all luxurys there in car foam matress and in larger tent was air matress in that smaller tent 2 yoga style matresses and sleeping bag. All was carried in car with pillows for all people and covers from home.
