What have you done to your car today?

Negative on the 65 profile. 3 in stock in WA, 2 coming from Brisbane. Discontinued from the distributor so I am assured price will be fair.

Ordered 5x 225/70R16 Pro Comp ATs for the Grey Fox today, I have no idea where I'm going to put the 5th one. I'd better get the lift done ASAP too.

Sweet, happy to help getting your lift done once it goes over the pits again mate

$250 for rego? Are you serious???

You guys have no idea how good you have it :rock:

BTW Taza, if you really wanna put on retreads, think twice bout going over 80kmh!:rotfl:

I got her quite easily upto 110km/hr on one of the highways today with completely bald highway tyres. lol
Getting some new tyres through an awesome mate.

bloody victoria!

lol. Your road regulations really suck over there, I feel for you guys.

The Impreza is now finished- as far as I can go anyway. I put on some old worn tyres and set the car up for a wheel alignment. Looking at the car, it looked more than a little pigeon toed. i set up the string along each side and used that as the base line for the wheel alignment. I was not surprised to see that both fronts had a toe in of about 10mm each. I adjusted the tie rod ends and I think I've got it reasonably close to zero toe. All i was aiming for was to get them pointing reasonably straight ahead so i could get a proper wheel alignment on Monday. I'll be interested to see how far out I am.

The car drives better now than it did the other day- obviously. I did a series of turns one lock to the other. There is a new residential area getting built nearby and I thought it the best place to go to be out of everyone's way. Lots of gravel- and when I turned on it I thought there was a problem when I hear this noise. But it was all good- just the plated diff doing it's thing. It certainly seems to have quicker steering- but I won't know how much better it will be till I hit the skidpan. Compared to the Forrie it is much quicker.

Thats great news Rally.

Will be interesting to see how close you are, after the adjustments you made :)

Regards
Mr Turbo

This rack has less than 2 1/2 turns lock to lock- not sure what the actual ratio is. But I feel like a bit of a dill for not seeing what the old one was before I took it out. I'll check with one of my mates in the club with the standard rack. The options vary depending on model. I have an MY99 WRX- and in truth I'm not sure what is available. I understand mine is out of an STI RA. With the next body shape, the WRX has the standard rack, then apparently the ADM STI has a quicker one, and the Spec C has a quicker one again. A mate of mine with an 05 ADM STI put the Spec C rack inn his car and loved it.

What model do you have- they are not cheap. They are a bugger to change as well, although i found an easier way than what was suggested to me. Non turbos would be easier I suspect. I had to disconnect the power steering lines from the pump- and elsewhere and separate them. Taking them off is easier than putting them back on. It took a few goes but eventually I could get the hoses and the pinion back up through the small access hole. The front sway bar had to come off, and so did the small plate that I call the jacking point. The suggested method was removing the TMIC, jacking up the engine and gaining access that way.

Thats awesome Rally. Sounds like a heap of work but now you can enjoy the results... :monkeydance:

Rego for 12 months in NSW costs me $980 all up.......RMS(Formerly RTA)= Royal Money Stealers.

Vic rego is $640 :madred::puke:

I knew NSW rego was expensive but thats crazy! :furious::puke:

I'll have to look into this, I'd love a quicker rack.

In my Foz it isn't too bad but the L-series though... man would I love just to have power steering!! Atleast its a good workout trying to drive in shopping centres. lol

Agreed, it does Rally. Im interested to here what you say a stock ones is like and the difference.

My Foz rego for a year was only about $540 or there abouts, I know its not over 600.

Does anyone know if the rego is worked out on a percentage of the cost of the car? If so its going to be really cheap for 'The L' (daves and my L-series's name)

Nah, its worked out on weight of the vehicle and engine cc I think.

I had a V8 XC panelvan with 265s and a shot p/s pump, I literally couldn't turn the steering wheel unless the car was rolling.

People pay good money for the kind of workout your getting for free!

How did you get 265's on to the front of that thing without scrapping? I had 245/50 14's on the front of mine and they'd just knick when driving really hard. I also had plenty of castor which made it harder when the pump was not running.

It scraped like heck!
They soon made their way to the back of the car as the rear tyres were consumed.

I never thought id own a car with spark plugs more difficult to change than a Cleveland falcon.

I used to be in the tool game, and having the right tools made a PITA job almost bearable. The Subaru I reckon is easier than a Cleveland Falcon with air and steer. Once you remove the Subaru's airbox (turbo models) and washer bottle it's pretty easy to get to- once you overcome the supper glue that binds the plug leads to the plugs that is. The best way I found was with a good 3/8 ratchet, 2 inch and 6 or 10 inch extension extension (wobble type from memory), 3/8 ball joint and a good plug socket. Non turbos are even easier.

I don't anticipate having to change plugs with the same frequency as the falcon thank god.

I've never liked using knuckles when doing spark plugs, but sometimes there's not a lot of choice.

When you say knuckles- do you mean uni joints? If so, I do not use them either. Ball joins are far superior.
