What have you done to your car today?

Usually only on the day of auction when doors open and they often won't tell you if there are keys to the car till after you've bought it but I've never missed out and I usually work out who the previous owner was and retrieve the second set off them lol, never had a refusal yet and even traced a car to South Hedland by the service sticker and they posted the spare and books to me.

Sweet. Most of the time being a front or side impact the car would still be driveable too right? From what I hear anyway.

I am going to talk to paul about sorting out what I have and getting a price then just see what comes up for auctions and prices.

I've always wondered bout auctions like Fowles...might be a good way out Taza, just be sure you're not buying more of the same issues.

Anyway, having waited for some decent weather, this is what I did today:

Many thanks go to DirtyRU for being kind enough to remember us folks down under who dont get these...

What the heck is that? like a scout badge?

I was thinking the same thing.
As long as it's mechanically sound, you'd save a motza, thats for sure.
Just be careful though taza :)

Wen't and talked to RSR (ausubaru) today about my car. All I can say is OMFG :surprised::rock:Ive never seen a better Subaru workshop in my life. More than 5 subies there and every part, engine an whatnot you could imagine.

Still thinking about my ideas. He said if I get another box or get my fixed I can cryo glaze my gearset( i think that was the term used). Its done with rally cars and makes the gears super strong. He also said L-series low range can cheaply and easily modified to be put in a gearbox, especially if the gearbox is already apart!

Thinking get mine rebuilt to start. Decide about the engine at a later date.

I knew there was something they did, hopefully not too expensive with the box in bits.

Hell yeah! That is so what I want to do with mine :lildevil:

Think about sourcing another box (perhaps from auction?) & building it up with the good bits, then you can put it in as you do your valves. If possible, I'd go L series low range, L series 1-4 gears, 4.44:1 diffs with LSD front & 12kg centre. It will take some time & some dollars but when combined with your SC & rear LSD or locker, you would have a beast that could push Venoms beast off its perch :lildevil:

No offence Venom, but that would be pretty good! :monkeydance:

Actually since you are only doing the gears 1-5, reverse and possibly low range it isn't all that expensive. They are small and it wouldn't take much to do. I asked RSR about this.

Yes the L-Series low range evn with my gutless POS would still be nice, great for shopping centres and traffic jams

Im thinking keep my stock gears 1-5 (repalce 1st gear), new syncros 1-3, dual syncro on 1st. Fix reverse from popping out, front geared LSD, replace centres (stuffed already) with a 12 or 20kg, im leaning more towards 20kg. That depends on price and avaliability though otherwise a new stock 4kg. Cryo glaze or what ever it is. Keep my 4.11 diffs as with more power to come one way or another 4.44 would be a waste of torque as mentioned many times.
The downtime for doing this tough would be weeks and its useless having a car with no gearbox so I either(option a) have to get all the parts and have as little downtime as possible. (option b) get another gearbox and check it in until mine is build (most labour cost) or 3 get a POS car to use or borrow off some kind subaru owner with a spare car until mines back on the road.
It would be nice if it could do what Venoms could! :raspberry:

Sitting in the line for the pits to transfer my rego over to WA.
Only concerns being non airbag approved bash plate and missing fender inners.

Failed vehicle inspection due to subaxtreme bar obscuring indicators

Nah no indicators on mine. I'm just going to pull the top bar work off and try again. Waste of a good sleep in and $60.

I can only imagine its the bar side uprights that are obscuring the indicators at certain angles. I'd suggest emailing SubaXtreme & mentioning their bullbar FAILS vehicle inspection! Not sure what they can do for you but they need to fix it for others...

I'd say so re the angle too.

If you do end up sending them an e-mail, it will be interesting to hear what their reply is :iconwink:

Finally got to drive the Impreza today. My visual analysis that it has terrible toe in was confirmed with the noise of the tyres. I will have to set some string up and do a wheel alignment so as to make the thing driveable. I only drove it 100 metres- but it seems the steering wheel is pointing straight. The alignment can wait till the weekend. Looking forward to the skidpan

Pricks, I hope you didn't cop the Indian guy or the pom with short mans syndrome, they love failing cars, even the other inspectors can't stand them.

I don't see how that bar could obscure the indicator to a point where you can't see it operating unless you were standing a meter away from it, I had the same problem with my spare wheel carrier so I went to the guys at the engineering department in Welshpool and they passed it.

If worst comes to worst get some trailer light indicators and mount them for the inspection. How long they remain afterwards is up to you

Well I have been abit busy at work and at home, but Iv been doing a few things.
I did a trip with the Vic suby club on the Labour day weekend and had a BALL!!! Cant wait to get out again! The car as stock went very well and surprised me and I think a few of the others as well!
I have since added-
ARB Awning, I had to make brackets for my pro-rack's
Finally finished my sump guard! Well almost, I still have to take it back off and prime and paint it next week! Will look nice black checkerplate!
Iv also added to my supplies... ABR Compressor, MaxTrax, recovery hitch, speedy seal and some camping stuff, still not decided on fridge (brand/size, want it to go under boot cover) or cooker/stove... I am going to wait on the swag/rooftent/tent/car thing.
I have bought 4 new rims too! These getting delivered start next week, trying to buy 2 more locally and paint these black too! Going to TRY put Cooper A/T tyres on them! currently run 65, going to see if I can run 75s?

I went out and bought a nearly brand new 4.5kg Firex fire extinguisher last night, not a mark on it and only $40, I intend to empty it and modify it to take 200psi (it's safe operating pressure is 217psi) which I can fill from my compressor at home, I'm pretty sure It'll get all 4 tyres back up to 35lb from 13 but I'll need to check obviously, no need to rely on electrics etc because I think my pump died last time I used it, still need to check it.
