What have you done to your car today?

Yeah but that'll go for good money because it's a repairable write off, you want to try to stick to statutory write off's or repairables that aren't worth fixing and the same model, that way you rob whatever good bits there are for yours, take the rest off and sell them when you can.

Have a good look at that interior burn one, even if you paid $1000 there are bumpers, doors, diff, wheels, full interior, tail lights & gate etc etc, all you need is a place to store it for a couple of weeks so you have time to strip it after uni & have everything prepped.

Years ago I bought a Landcruiser that was a complete charred mess from one end to the other, all I wanted was the chassis and it turned out the engine and box were perfect, just a few crispy ancillary's.

Fowles are the other auction place in Perth but nothing this week.

3.54 WRX diffs in smoky town go for between $250-$300

Do repairable writeoff's sell for much more?
Generally a lot more but it depends on the popularity of the car and replacement parts cost, 4X4's usually go for stupid money but Subi's seem to have dropped off in price over the last couple of years which is good, they used to go for similar prices to what you could buy an undamaged car for privately.

A stat can never be put back on the road so only good for wrecking, all you have to do is beat the wreckers and they like making huge profits so something like the burn't one is too much trouble, sometimes burnt cars go for scrap metal prices like $120ish but this'll go for more, just depends on who wants what off it.

Is there any way to tell the condition of that burnt out one? Like the gearbox and engine?

How often do new ones come up in perth on average? Monthly..

Usually about 4-5 come up every week in Perth but if a bargain comes up you've gotta grab it, with the burnt one all you could really do is get there early on the morning of the auction and see if the gear lever feels ok and if the motor turns over by hand, pretty hard really but it's a gamble you have to take, just have to make sure you cover your arse by not paying too much or at least you can recoup most of your money, thing you MUST remember is to take at least $500 cash as they want a deposit instantly and your drivers license when you register, cheaper cars like that one usually go early in the auction, there are two auctions every week, one at Pickles on a Wed
Pickles Auctions
And one at Fowles on a Tuesday.

are the rear wrx lsd diffs any good for offroad?
Yeah they are a hell of a lot better than 2 opens, have a look at my YouTube link and all that thing has is a lot of grunt, rear viscous, center 4kg viscous and open front with 38lb in the tyres and it was pretty soft that day and the dunes were chopped to hell.

Sweet, will keep my eyes out. Im really after a early 2nd gen foz if possible. 02-08 with lowish km(less than what mine has.. 170k) and manual. Being burnt out you loose the wiring as its burnt.

But isn't yours a Gen 1 or is it a late MY01 Gen 2? Pointless having a pile of good bits you can't use.

Yes its a gen 1 but I want the 2.5l engine if im going to replace it and get a whole car. Could sell off some of the parts anyway im sure.
Fog lights go for 150 on ebay, seats 200-300, etc.. Could use the rims and suspension if not sell it. B ut that all depends on the condition of the car.

I've always wondered bout auctions like Fowles...might be a good way out Taza, just be sure you're not buying more of the same issues.

Anyway, having waited for some decent weather, this is what I did today:

Yeah thats what im worried about, but if its been t-boned or rolled then highly possibly driveable(being subaru of course) and therefore I can get an idea.

Nice, now you just have to get that front bar fitted!

See that's where you need to be careful because if the motor was running at the time of the accident and it's snapped the timing belt there will more than likely be head/valve damage & I'd say that has head damage the way it's been smacked, you really want side/rear damage if possible.

Most important thing is to make sure the timing belt is in one piece and the pulleys aren't shattered.

Are you allowed to look/inspect a car to see if thats happened?
