What have you done to your car today?

I installed the Subaxtreme bull bar on the Forrie today that Anthony89 advertised. I ended up with a few too many bolts somehow! Thanks for your work Anthony. Thanks also to a mate in the WRX club who transported my front bumper to Brisbane and the bull bar to Sydney for free; another mate in the WRX Club who picked the bar up from Parramatta and dropped it off at my place and a mate in the Jackaroo Club who helped me fit it tonight. I'm off to Newnes this weekend so the timing was tight but we got there in the end. Pictures to come.

Oh I do... everytime I plug my Zune in! ;) Driving around in my car now is like being at a rock concert, I love it! :monkeydance:

I know what thats like. I love my music really loud  Everyone looks, but I don't do it to please anyone else :iconwink:

Awesome, got any pics?

I actually plugged my MAP/MAF sensor in today, finished off my cold air intake until the SC goes in over the next few weeks.
Gapped 2 of the spark plugs, changed the oil and filter plus I did a few other bits and pieces.

The foz is running much better now, just need to do the other 2 spark plug and she should be running at stock performance.
I think the CAI will mkaeup for the loss of power from the stuffed rings/valves.

With the CAI though I have instant response when I put my foot down no mater the gear, even from 60km/hr in 5th, although not fast it will actually speed up unlike before

Neither do I, Actually I love the fact that inside is boomy and thumping but on the outside it's quite tame and not like one of those Doof doof machines you see roaming around Mooloolaba. Having AC helps because the windows are firmly up

Oh with mine you can hear the doof doof doof from outside  I like my music clear, loud and with the right bass. Not too much but not too little.

Haha, you will pay for this when you get a bit older. In highschool i drove around with 4 - 15" jbl subs powered by a big alpine amp in the back of my truck. I now find myself saying "WHAT?" way more than i should be for someone 26yrs old!

Sounds like you timed it perfectly Rally :) You'll really notice the difference with the approach angle now too :iconwink:
Have fun at Newnes, play hard & be safe mate :raz:
Looking forward to seeing some pics of your newly installed front bar when you return

Thats great news & great to hear taza

Now you'd think that.. But playing in a rock band for the last 10years has done nothing to my hearing... i still show symptoms of selective hearing, but that's a matter of attention span.;) The best way around it is to just say my name at the START of the question/senance and I hear you just fine :poke:

Great to hear Taza. wasnt your MAP sensor plugged in before?

The only way to do it haha :raspberry:

Sounds like you had it well organised, & well timed!

Wait till you hit 36! haha

haha :rotfl:

Replaced the clutch hose the other day, $53 for genuine.

Went to put it in but couldn't get the nut off the metal line end. Was getting pretty frustrated & didnt want to force it & snap something (its only small), so walked away to calm down & let the "Penetrene" I put on it soak in & work its magic...it did! :monkeydance:

But then found the new hose didnt come with new copper washers!
Bit disappointing that new washers werent supplied with the GENUINE hose. Aftermarket I could understand...but genuine is meant to be complete! :shake:

Anyway, got a lift to a clutch place (2 copper washers...$3-) & 10 minutes later, the hose was fitted & bled

You're spot on there taza :quitar::quitar:
Me too :rock::rock:

I know what you mean Species :iconwink:
My attention span does have something to do with it, but in saying that, my selective hearing really depends on whether or not I feel like talking to certain people (usually co-workers that is) :lildevil:

That approach usually works; the other way sucks ...

That sort of thing is just downright irritating ...
You can always "dress up" an old washer with 800 wet & dry carbide paper, mate, for future reference.

Glad you got it fixed, anyway.

So I'm guessing my fuel economy woes are down to the car running rich as the old plugs were quite black when I pulled them out.. so today I turned the mixture screw in 1/4 of a turn... big day

Hearing loss in humans

Quite right, DRU.

Now you'd think that.. But playing in a rock band for the last 10years has done nothing to my hearing... i still show symptoms of selective hearing, but that's a matter of attention span.;) The best way around it is to just say my name at the START of the question/senance and I hear you just fine :poke:

The 'selective' part is more likely to be caused by ADD/ADHD ... LOL!

However, DRU is absolutely correct.

You should use ear protection when playing in a highly amplified band environment.

You are born with all the little "tabs" in your ears that act as "sound receptors". Extreme noise causes these to snap off. They never re-grow.

IOW, it is your life-time exposure to sounds over about 70 dB (or less ... ) that determines your hearing loss, and the age at which it occurs noticeably. This is one of my specific interests over a lifetime of study associated with the distinction between reception of stimuli, and their perception by the brain.

If I were you, I would have your hearing tested in the near future, if only for providing an historical basis for future measurements.

While your hearing loss may not yet be noticeable to you, I can guarantee that it will already be occurring.

To give some idea of how good an adult human's hearing can be, the manager of a family station near Cunnamulla could hear our neighbour start his vehicle; tell whether it was the truck, ute or tractor; and tell us when we could expect Gordon to drive up, because he could tell whether Gordon was coming towards us, or not. Gordon's house was a mere seven miles away ... None of us city kids could hear anything until Gordon was a mile or two away. The manager was about 3 times our age ...

Yesterday I had a mate re-attach the LHS rear sway bar mount, where it had torn through, on the line of the top of edge of the top welded nut. Also welded the RHS one where it had just started to crack.
This damage happened at Corryong in January - i.e. before the Noojee trip.
The car has felt quite safe with one side of the sway bar disconnected.
Pleased I have fixed it when I have however. The end of the solid part of the bar (i.e. just above the link bolt hole) had started to 'polish' the lower end of the drive shaft, immediately above the end of the lower cv boot. That was obviously the source of the intermittent 'clunk' I could hear. Any closer and it would've torn the cv boot.
I will pick up some 3mm x 40mm mild steel this week, to make up plates to 'reinforce' tghe attachment points.
Also had a good look at the OEM links and the 'adjustable' Whiteline links I want to replace them with.
Unfortunately the Whitelines are too short, so am going to have to make up allthread 'studs' and loctite on some deep-section nuts, to act as 'extenders'. I also think it would be good to make them a bit longer than standard, to counter the additional pressure resulting from the 2" strut and spring lift.
Will fit clevis pins to the lower swaybar links, for quick disconection when off-road.
Once the rear is right I will do similar at the front.

Got these in just in time for Presidents day! (not that i care much about our current one) Until Mr T, i had never seen these before and thought it was a pretty cool idea.

They look great dirtyRU

By having these on, it's actually given me an idea

I think the ORS "oval sticker" would be a perfect fit on the mirrors too :iconwink:

Might have to look at doing that I think, when I decide for a change :raz:

DRU, those mirrors certainly do stand out!

Today was new wiper blades, spark plugs (NGK V-Power, p/n BKR6E-11), and an upstream oxygen sensor. Nothing major, but all stuff I'd intended to do (with the exception of the wipers, both of which decided to disintegrate on me at the same time this weekend) before the engine replacement a few weeks ago.

The spark plugs are a bit of an experiment - factory replacement calls for NGK BKR5E-11s instead of the BKR6E-11s that I installed. The new ones are a notch colder; hopefully this will help with the 10% ethanol fuel blend we've got around here. Shouldn't have done the oxygen sensor at the same time since it'll muddy the numbers, but we'll see what happens.
