What have you done to your car today?

That's great. It can be hard to put it all into the written word without making it sound harder than it really is.

Agreed ^^good to see it's keeping cool, you should try fixing a leak under the inlet manifold of a turbo Subi, I had that bugger off 4 times trying to work it out as you can't really see exactly where the water is coming from......just close.

Funny you should mention that. I have the inlet manifold off the WRX. There is a small coolant hose used to warm the inlet manifold. I am by-passing the inlet manifold to try and keep temperature out of it, as I see it more of a northern hemisphere winter requirement. But as part of the upgrade of the new turbo, I am getting rid of the existing fuel rails and regulator and will be using a Sard rising rate regulator with after market fuel rails. What a pain it has been. They shipped the wrong fuel hose, then I found they had shipped the wrong injectors. Then to get 4 elbows and 2 "Y" pieces they want $280. I then tried Pirtek and with a Frankenstein assortment of bits they wanted over $200 as well. Anyway, are you leaking from the crossover pipe? Maybe the "O" Rings are no good. The only other hose that comes to mind that goes under the inlet manifold is the one that goes to the recovery bottle. And if it is not the hose, then it surely must be a rusted out pipe or something. If I had to take the inlet manifold off 4 times I think my computer screen would have an axe through it

It was shortly after I put it back on the road, on the early ones there is a water pipe near the passenger side injector fuel line, it had a pin hole after sitting under a tarp for close to 4yrs so I took it off and cut part of the pipe & put some hose over it or lengthened the hose that was there, really awkward as there is a bend in it, goes down to the thermostat from memory, anyhow still leaked so took it off again and re-did everything and it still leaked so took it off again and took all the pipes off including the cross over pipe made sure everything was sweet and put it all back but found I'd left one of the cross over bolts out and remembered I only finger tightened the other but figured it wasn't going anywhere so left it like that not knowing for some STUPID reason the bolts were also a water seal as you said so it came off for the 4th time and has been sweet ever since re tightening etc but from memory you have to take half the front of the motor off to replace that thermostat pipe so that's why I did the patch up job, would have been easier to do that in the long run.

I had a similar problem with my knock sensor on the Liberty, had that out about 4 times in a row trying to fix the wire as the plug had snapped, about 2 hours the first time & about 20min the last tome including the intercooler lol.

Make sure you re-route that inlet heater pipe and don't just block it, makes the car overheat otherwise as my ex wife's friend found out on a cheapie I got her lol.

Yes, I used a small bit of hose to by pass it. Almost looks like standard. I'll put some pictures up at some stage

The third photo is of the small cooling system modification. New injectors and adaptors arrived today- they seem to fit. No cutting of loom now required as they also sent loom adaptors as well

Where is that fuel rail from?
Also, don't forget to paint the manifold red. You'll gain at least 5kw.

Nice, is it a 205 or a 207 block, I found the under intake manifold and a bigger top mount gave me a 0.2 better time down the drags in my Liberty and that was against a 23kph head wind whereas I had a slight side/tail wind the time before and was still crossing the line at 105mph, they were the only mods I made, I'm still running the std air box with a HKS foam filter & a 90mm Bunnings PVC pipe down near the fog light area which has been great for over 5yrs, sucks like a ***** and lovely subtle stock BOV whoosh.

If it hadn't been for the wind I'd have easily cracked a high 12, I'll go back soon and see what I can do, with the golf ball effect from the hail it might help lol, not bad for stock except for the breathing mods & 3" TBE.

Had the transmission serviced today. Old oil sucked out, cleaner pumped through the system & new fluids pumped in. Hope it helps the forry live a longer life! Now just rear bearings & front speakers & i'll be ready for the long haul.

Took 'Charlie' to the local hand car wash for the annual 'inside and out'. Literally as I turned the key to leave the rain started. Still, I now have a 'blank slate' to get muddy!

30000 mile scheduled maintenance per Subaru plus a few extras recommended in this area by the dealer. Also, made the switch to Subaru synthetic oil. :iconwink: Trigger's ready for a road trip.

Took the Forrie up to Yengo NP with the Jackaroo Club. Yes, been there before but not the route out. Great fun day- really enjoyed it. Geez I'm tired though. Probably the last run for the day. Sump guard got a work out when I landed a couple of times, but no dramas

Got the Forester running today. First engine start up in almost 2 months it's taken me to do the rebuild.

Congratulations- I am some way behind you. I have bolted in the new turbo, but I am having issues with the fuel rails and the new top feed injectors. The spacers they supply to mount the injectors are too long, meaning the fuel rails are in the way of the air intake. I will need to cut the spacers to exactly the right length so they will hold the injectors precisely in place. PITA. Because this is a road car, I really want to keep the standard air box. So I have now cut most of the output tube of the airbox off and mounted the "elbow" to it so as to clear the fuel rail. The trouble is that the "elbow" has a 73mm ID, and the silicon turbo intake has a 70mm ID. The cheapest solution I have found so far still costs $45! The other issue is the BOV plumb back into the turbo intake. I hate the way Subaru have done it and I want to get some rubber hose with a 30mm ID. But I cannot find anyone locally with 1 metre long 30mm ID hose.

Thats great to hear

Don't stress too much Rally. I'm sure you'll be able to some somewhere at a better / cheaper price mate :)

I found on e-bay the hose for the BOV to turbo inlet hose- only place I could find it was in the UK! Will give me time to mount the injectors I guess

Got back from my trip up north yesterday. Great trip, will get around to doing a report when I unpack and relax some more this weekend.

Ended up doing about 2500km in 5 days all towing which was full on. Did it fine except for one day of head on wind, and got over 20Litres per 100Km!!!!!!!!!

No problems with the foz either which made the trip nice :D

Have heaps of pics and vids both on and offroad.
