What have you done to your car today?

Just got home from Perth. Went to the 4x4 and Adventure show there, saw heaps of cool stuff and great deals. Went and talked the a few guys from the Subie club of WA.
Met up with Gaz (Gazoola) and talked subarus :raspberry: Compared his 2.0l N/A auto to my 2.0l N/A manual. The auto wasn't as bad and/or slow as i was expecting. Very nice to drive but if I had one the power button would be on all the time. My manual is certainly quite abit more lively but the autos not bad. Can't wait to see one offroad oneday

Picked up a foz dual range gearbox for cheap. 4.11 diffs and 45% reduction lo range. Low km and never been offroad

Also met up with Dann (from ausubaru) another young guy (P-Plater) with an L-Series. What a machine!!! He just finished his EJ22 conversion mid lastweek.... and hell it goes like a little rocket. I knida wish I had one instead of the foz but having all the luxuries, electrics and comfort are nice. Only thig taht I wasn't too keen on was the FWD with the EJ22. Torque steer was like a death machine. I went through a round about (2nd gear) put my foot down abit and the front 2 wheels start spinnign while on the move :rotfl: All good fun though and a great little car.

Great little weekend trip but im buggered now after the 1800km.

Oh the foz is slowly clocking up the km :iconwink:

Well you will live in such a bloddy massive stae & have fun trips all over it :raspberry:

ok, ok, i admit it...i'm jealous lol :lildevil:

Today finished putting in cargo barrier in the foz...crikey what a PITA. Had to modify the connecting steel arms, would have thought it would be a simple easy job! :shake:

Yeah I do have fun all over the state. Gotta do it while your young

You will have to post some pics of your cargo barrier. I thought about one but it would be too annoying for em as I like to fold my back seats down to fit stuff in and sleep in the back when camping, etc...

I usually well pack the car though so stuff doesn't really come forwards much even when braking hard to a roo :iconwink:

Today I used Subaru Upper Engine cleaner for the first time. i think my foz only if at all had it done at the big 100,000km service. Shes now almost at 162,000km and wow what a bloody difference. There wasn't much smoke but atleast a 10-15% power increase. She now idles heaps smoother, accellerates heaps smoother and the power.... where to start. She really p****s along now. Like a little supercharged rocket now except without the supercharger. I was quite happy before with the power but always wanted abit more. This has made a huge difference, I reckon it would of easily knocked off a couple of seconds from 0-100km/hr or the quarter mile.

I hope I get a 15% economy increase too :raspberry: I will be exatatic then :lildevil:

Anyone who hasn't done it... DO IT!!!!! Makes a huge difference.

Also did it to Daves Outback and it helped, starts better and smoother accelleration but no difference compared to the foz. Almost like the power diff going from an EJ20 to EJ22. Hell my EJ20 must of been running crap before.

When I first bought my Forrie the CEL would keep coming on. After a couple of cans of the upper engine cleaner, it has never come back on. I use it every 6000k's and agree- use it.

Ok I'll take some photos. Was a pain but I needed to cos i often carry a bush saw plus tree pruners with a big pointy tip in the back & didnt want it embedded in my skull! lol. Or have the saw cut me a new hole haha

Havent done the Subaru Upper Engine cleaner yet, mainly cos not really sure how to do it. I might start a thread on it so I & others can use it as a refernece for their cars...

My foz really seems down on power, has great economy though. After what you've said I think I need to...

With my 'Half barrier' I have the best of both worlds.

Last week I had the seat down in the Outback and, with 2 closed cell sleeping mats and sleeping bag, slept diagonally while doing an 'all nighter' on a picket line - luxury!

Not enough room to roll over with the barrier above my hips, and the '05OB is just a bit short to sleep full length unless diagonal (I'm 5' 8"), but better than a Ford / Holden station wagon in most other respects!

Had a low speed nose to tail last week, caved in the back end of a 1996 Magna, virtually un-noticeable on the Outback. (Will post pics later.)
Long story short, $600 excess on my insurance policy, damage to my car assessed at $1900. Insurance company agreed to pay me out $1300, rather than fix my car. As my SubaXtreme 'sports bar' arrives in the next 10 days it will now cost me just $1,000. i.e.in effect the insurance company 'brought' my older bumper from me for $1300 - heaps more than I'would've made if I had been able to sell it on-line.
Just grateful I didn't have the prang a couple of weeks after fitting the sports bar! :)

Sorry to hear it, even a small accident is still a bummer. But great timing if it had to happen lol

Sorry to hear that Barry :sadbanana:
Glad you got out of it with no injuries :)

Got a new muffler put on, was only $300 so can't complain. Straight through muffler with a 3inch tip. Didn't want anything bigger that looks stupid. Has a nice sound and is quieter than a straight pipe but louder than stock. Goes nicely with my UEL headers.

Will post some pics and a vid when I get the chance.
