What have you done to your car today?

I ordered an MY10 XT on Thursday in Newport Blue. Delivery this week :monkeydance:

Congratulations!!! Now you just need to source out a mini sump guard, mini A/T tires, mini lift kit, and mini snorkel, then you'll be good to go.

changed fuel filter.

Haven't done it yet, but it's on my list for today. Fuel filter on the YotaRu is a bit more of a PITA than the Subie, but now that I've posted here, I have to do it.:iconwink:

Got towed home by the N.R.M.A after almost putting my foot through the firewall when my clutch pedal went bang, gave way & went straight to the floor. :furious:
So it's off to my mechanic tomorrow on the back of a tilt tray to be assessed & fixed. :sadbanana:

:sadbanana:Hope it's alright. Like Rally said, sounds like a hydraulics issue, blown seal perhaps???

Thanks carljwnc. I'm hopeful is something like that & nothing major

bummer mr.T! hopefully this next week will be better for you. chin-up, mate!
Thanks dirtyRU. Me too, as long as nothing bad happens this Thursday (it's my b'day) I'll be happy. :)

Well it's not good news I'm afraid :yell:
They called me today & said that they have to pull the entire gear box out to see whats broken & damaged inside. :censored:
I should have a better idea tomorrow (Tues) but at the moment it's looking like it's going to need a full re-build. :sadbanana: :furious: :sadbanana:

Got a SportsRack roof basket just put on! This thing is freakin beefy! Much bigger bars than what i thought it would have from the pictures. It makes no noise ontop at 70mph speeds. Will get pics up in just a bit!

Here are the pics of the new basket. I wasn't planning on getting one anytime soon (as in no rush to spend $300), but i came across www.rackoutfitters.com. Turns out they are located in south Austin & this one was a display they were selling, so practically brand new, never used. I stole this thing at $100 cash, already put together! The guys even had me pull in their shop & they put it on for me. Beats the heck out of the $225 you find on the cheaper ones else where.

Ok then, here's the damage that I did & what needs fixing.

A new thrust bearing & sprigget bearing. The clutch & pressure plate need to be replaced & the flywheel needs machining.

The small shaft on the front of the gearbox casing (which the thrust bearing fits on/over) is totally stuffed. :( So I have to replace the entire gear box casing as it's all in one piece (casing & shaft) :yell: :sadbanana:
The good news though is that all the gearing itself, inside the gearbox is ok. :)

The slave cylinder is sticky & needs work too. :bcool:
While everything is out, I'll replace the rear main seal aswell just to be on the safe side. :iconwink:

The best option I have (I think) is to get & put a new (wreckers or reconditioned) gearbox in.

Any thoughts &/or advise is & would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Well, here it is - in all it's 1/18th glory :monkeydance:. The quality is excellent, and the whole car is very realistic (even the struts on the bonnet work when opening it). Got here quicker than I expected, and it's worth every cent I paid for it - I wish it was the real thing, but I've got a few more years to save up for that one!! Will get some better pics tomorrow in the daytime, but for now, here it is with the MY09!

Thanks Carl. Haha - I'd love to see it with those add-ons!

Thanks Mr. Turbo - awoke to the doorbell at 6:30am - There was a package!
...snip...

Sorry to hear that - at least it's fixable. I don't know much about gearboxes, but your idea of a new or reconditioned one sounds like a good idea mate!

It was more yesterday, but anyway, I got a new mid section muffler for my car, after i split the seam of it at Lidsdale last year. And two days before that I managed to buckle the front left guard, after hitting a rock and pushing the bullbar up to cause the guard to buckle...At Lidsdale! Not Happy Jan!

Joel

I wonder if it was the same hill & same rock that I did the same thing to the white Forester at Lisdale?

Now that is a long story!

Was it left or right side ?

Hi Damo. A mate in the WRX club has a gearbox for sale (as do I but the ratios would probably be wrong). Can you find out what diff ratios you have- maybe his box might fit.

I'm not sure if it is, but the only car last year to make it up was Alex's locked and lifted Patrol. I damaged the left hand guard luckily. I don't want to have to fix the snorkel after all our work.

Joel

Ordered my new gearbox today & it should arrive tomorrow morning (Thurs)

My mechanic will then fit it & do some other repairs while he's at it. :)
IE Clutch kit, rear main seal & slave cylinder.
It should be finished & ready for me by Friday afternoon.

This particular gearbox is slightly different, as the gearing has been specially treated & strengthened :raz: Aswell as that, it's sliding hubs have been modified for easier gear changing at lower speeds (great for 4wding) & better 5th gear selection & improved 5th gear synchro. :discomonkey:

Can't wait for Friday & to have my Forry back :woohoo:
