What have you done to your car today?

It's not what I've done to my car, but rather done with my car.:iconwink:

Another visitor, this is the second one, high centered their car on the bank beside our driveway (snowy conditions). Recovery successfully performed.

I now have three recoveries under my belt, none of them truly 'off road' in nature, think I'm building up some good car-ma.:iconwink:

Happy to help. Always fun chopping up someone elses car. Joel has some photos now so it shouldn't take him long to get them up hopefully. Here's one though.

Wow! That looks pretty involved with angle-grinder and sparks flying...

Can't wait for the full report and pics!

Changed the tow hitch from a 'tongue up' to a 'tongue down' style.
This will re-establish my original tow ball height, as it off-sets my 50mm suspension lift. Would've been happy to keep that height, however it resulted in the handle of the tow hitch fouling on the eternal spare wheel when turning to the right.
An extra two inches makes all the difference. :monkeydance:

The locking mechanism for the rear racks had to be removed and re=welded to the new hitch.

Also fitted a plate to the rear of the towing cross member, which will have the 12 pin trailer socket mounted on top. This should protect the socket and trailer plug in virtually all situations. (The plate is mid way between the 'Jerry can mount and tow hitch, and as high as the bottom of the Jerry can mount & higher than the bottom of the tow hitch. :discomonkey:

Pics will follow.

Wired the 7 pins for the trailer lights last night, as well as a couple of piggy back wires for the number plate light (on the swing out wheel carrier).

Gee that sounds pretty clever there Barry. I'm not very good with auto electrics. I pay someone else to do it.

Today I installed my external speaker for my UHF radio. The actual radio unit is tucked up and cable tied to the TCM near the steering column, so it was super hard to hear anything, and a real bugger to work on. But anyway, the speaker is now fitted to the centre console arm rest.

I also helped Dad fit his external speaker to the centre console of their '03 Pajero. I think this job is a lot neater than mine. It mounts flush to the front of the centre console.

This picture shows the speaker inside looking up inside the console.

That is all.

Not really Joel, just followed the colour coding of the wires and numbers of the sockets from the old one that I ripped off on the tracks over New Year. :iconwink:

The major difficulty was manipulating the tight wires close to the towing hitch!

Got the tires rotated & balanced on the Scooby today. I had thrown a balancer off one of the wheels & it was starting to get a bit irritating. All better now :)

Hi AR Outback, hope you are enjoying the forum. It might assist us if on threads like this you quote the post you are referring to- saves working back trying to find that post.

I'm new to the site, where did you order your seat covers from. Sorry, I don't know all of the abbreviations yet. Thanks

This is a good picture. Are you runnin BFG A/T's there? 3 girls i dated in highschool all drove 4runners. One was '94, but 2wd & gutless, another was a 2001 & the last was a 2004. One thing i have to say that impressed me the most with all models was how much room you had when the back seats were laid down :lildevil:

That's a wife pic, she does great even with her phone. Yup BFG A/T's. Mines a '94 slow and gutless (even with the V6) but it's got it down low where it counts. Love my 4Runner.

Was there a 4 banger for that year? I believe thats what hers was. I did like it though, tons of ground clearance. We couldnt kill it!

:woohoo:Happy Birthday to my Forester. It was born in January 2010.

Cleaned up the engine bay today. Looks great!
