What have you done to your car today?

I filled up with fuel as usual, and zero'd the trip meter as usual, and got to thinking, hey! you haven't checked the odometer reading for a quite a while, 2 button presses later and I see it has clocked up 352,000km. At the current rate if my weekly commute remains unchanged it'll be reading 500,000km in 18 months time.

My SG is just over 110,000 Kms.

In FAR better condition than I am ...
Bloody hell where have you been hiding that SG Ratbag?
My MY2021 HR-V is about to turn over 100,000 Kms in the next week.
Same here re condition, another one with a rat poop back.

@subyroo
Peter, I've only put around 20,000 Kms on it since the beginning of 2012.
The last 5-6 years, I've only really used it as a shopping pram.

When we go out anywhere, SWMBO usually drives in her car, which has done about 60,000+ Kms over the same time. She gets bad motion sickness, but not when she drives.

My lumbar spine is knackered, both discs and facet joints, my heart's electrics are buggered, I've also got osteoporosis and a few other problems. My back turned into a clinical problem around 2018, as did my heart electrics.

We recently spent more than my car's insured for on two orthopaedic chairs for the living room. Stressless, made in Norway. They are excellent.

We may take mine to Brisbane in October/November and visit my elder brother there and my elder sister and friends in Nambucca Heads on the way.

It's a brilliant car though. I love it! And easy for me to get in and out of, specially compared with our Impreza and Camry, which were too low.

The Michelin tyres I put on it way back were just crumbling and splitting after only 20K Kms! Still had most of their tread, but it was disintegrating. Now have a new set of Bridgestone Turanza tyres. They're excellent.

@Ratbag

Your back is far worse than mine, Dr said mine was lumber spondylosis (age-related degeneration of the vertebrae and disks of the lower back). Not good news for a >40 yr old back in the early 80's.
I used to have Michelin's on my 2003 Forester and loved them, never did any offroading with them though.

You guys aren’t selling old age very well… I’ve heard it’s a privilege but it’s starting to sound fraught with bits falling apart before their time :confused:

Bennie, to quote an old, departed friend in Florida,
"Getting old ain't for sissies."

Changed front diff oil and replaced front end sway bar links.

Last weekend I took my brumby up to Subinats at the Sydney Motorsport Raceway.
I haven’t tallied up the stats yet but it’s in the vicinity of 2000km for the whole trip with the majority being done last Thursday going there and Sunday returning in one shot. The Brumby was flawless :cool::discomonkey:

Cheers

Bennie

Sorry I missed it but NoShoes and I had arranged an Oktoberfest weekend away for the Subie club

As they are.....

Washed Roo2 a couple of days ago - toothbrush job ...

Also removed the aerobars for the trip to Brisbane and Nambucca Heads, etc, to visit family.

A bit out of place but this refers to previous posts on this thread.
A couple of months ago there was a small conversation about oil seal treatment which I have used in the past.
A few expressed interest so I am curious as to how it did/didn`t work for you.

Oh yeah...went to buy the sealer but it was out of stock. I then did an oil and filter change few weeks ago and interestingly the oil level is still OK...
Will wait and see

My Suby went to the doctor today.........Since my last post I have decided to call "time" at 358,000Km (221,829 miles) on the original EJ253 engine in my MY2010 Forester. Head gasket failure is a known issue with the EJ engines, however, managing the coolant loss these last months had progressively become a daily maintenance item and disaster was looming, so action was needed. Now head gasket failure is a known issue with the EJ engines, and in my case the accelerating coolant loss had quickly become a daily maintenance item - so it was time to act. Given the mileage the engine had done, I decided rather than do a "band-aid" fix and just fit new head gaskets and hope for the best, I went and purchased a Level 2 exchange engine from All Drive Subarus in New South Wales (Aust.) and had it shipped down south to Lucas Automotive in Victoria (Aust.) where the transplant will happen. I know it's a 13-year-old vehicle and the engine transplant cost is more than the vehicle's trade-in value BUT when all is considered it's a quarter of the cost of a replacement new, or near-new vehicle.
