What have you done to your car today?

Ahh. that makes sense.

Yes, report it to police. If it happened before and the act is serial, who knows, they may have setup a cam car to catch the perpetrator, just like what they do in places here where tyre slashing is common. By the way, construction area and drilled holes on your tyre can be a clue.

Who needs roof-top tents, when you have 3 king single mattresses that you can use when camping under the stars?

Just kidding, I used the SG5 to transport and donate these mattresses to the nearest De Paul house.

I got trailed by an unmarked police car because they also have a crackdown on unsecured luggage. 5 roundabouts later, they pretty much witnessed how secured my haul is.

Would be an interesting drive with the swaybars disconnected. :)

have yet to use my roof bars in anger but they add to the sleeper look

Great rollover buffers! :)

Yes, and since they are spring-type ones, they boing, as well!

@ABFoz
Your car looks amazing full stop.

Cheers, your's too, wait... I think all Subarus are. I truly like their cars' design language. They all age extremely well.

How can such beauty be a sleeper? That electric blue colour gives away your engine output! Even with such good looks, though, some people would still see it as just another crossover but when you zoom past them, they will understand and that can make it a sleeper.

... and yours is a built STI.

Thanks for the kind words but me thinks we are all abit bias towards Subaru ……. mine largely goes under most peoples radar but occasionally you get one or two that get transfixed by it.
That advert is the best add ive seen for Subaru , you gotta feel sorry for the guy in the Datsun tho :lol1:

Ive just read that add again ……. 0-60 in 5.3 that's super car territory and that's back in 2004 , I wonder how much you would have to pay for that performance from say Audi or BMW 16 years ago.

Yes, it's a very utilitarian-looking vehicle that can go off-road in the morning and rip the racetrack in the afternoon.

Most Subarus look rather older upon release but they become prettier as they grow older - a bit subjective but I always hear those when people see a well-maintained one.

Gave the rims on the SVX a little cleanup. I don't think the inside of them has ever been cleaned.

After (first go with Pressure washer anyway)

I've got a fair way to go, durn pressure washer conks out when it gets a bit warm, but they look a lot better and no longer turn my hands black.

A fair bit of very small pitting on the inside too, which I'm kind of surprised about considering the condition of the rest of the car (no rust at all, apart from where the battery leaked.). I'm guessing it's salt, because it looks similar to the corrosion you get on aluminium with boats.

What corrodes alloy rims, or is it more likely to have come out of the factory pitted on the bit no-one looks at??

The inside of these alloys has coating from factory and they get breached primarily by the metals coming from brake pads and rotors. Cheaply made ones throw out more debris and increase the wear rate thereby increasing the corrosion. If you have a look at the part around the brake rotor, they are much more deeply corroded and they start to grade out away from it.

There are cleaners that remove or decontaminate the iron sediments that are baked in and around the wheels like this:

They will dissolve the metals and leave the aluminium as bare as possilbe. Cheers.

.. or use some oxalic acid from your local hardware store. a millionty times cheaper.
