What have you done to your car today?

Unplugged the battery to reset the ECU hopefully stopping the car from continuing using the "towing" fuel consumption

Booked the Impreza in for a minor service, also going to get the spark plug leads and coil pack replaced as it seems to have picked up a bit of a stutter at low rpm. I've had the plugs replaced already and it hasn't fixed it so it's time to replace some more stuff!

Argh. I think I broke Scooby2 :-(

They say things come in 3s....

She has some random loud clunking noise in her @ss end.

On ramps till me, she and the weather cools down enough to investigate.

Best regards

Bugger, S2 ... :(.

Could it be a wheel bearing, or does it sound like something more ugly?

Replaced the windscreen today on the 2002SG, fully covered by the insurance company without an excess. The rubber windscreen mould was coming apart so I asked for that to be replaced too and the insurer paid for that as well!

Havachat, good deal!

Scooby, hope its nothing serious. Could just be a worn bush. Does it do it more on a corner, accelerating or braking, change with speed?

New battery for the 2011 SH. The original factory one (Panasonic) just died without warning yesterday :(
Got an Exide in my 2002 that was installed in 2007 and still going, so I got an Exide Endurance for the SH. Hopefully this will last a lot longer.

Fitted up my Custom Rear 6kg/mm King Springs last night.

Much better for the weight of the premo pack (and all the junk I carry)

PLus you can do it without pulling the struts from the car.

-Jack car up up as high as you can under the rear control arms
-support vehicle with jack stands
-Remove wheels
-Undo strut top centre bolt with rattle gun,
-Undo HID leveller, swaybar link and hub from lower control arm
-pull out spring
-insert new spring
-jack control arm up slowly and locate shock into top-hat
-install strut top nut loosley
-re-install hub bolt**, swaybar link and HID leveller.
-wheels on,
-sit car on ground and tighten the strut top nut with rattle gun.
done.

**note

the CA and hub bolt holes don't like to line up straight with the lift blocks.
It took a combination of placing the scissor jack between the upper control arm and body, and trolley jack under the LCA and adjusting multiple times to get the bolt in.
And lots of swearing

Rubber floor mats
Seat covers
Washed it
Corrected the tire pressure.

Installed the faulty LED light-bar replacement (claimed under warranty).

that did not last long, hope you have better success with this one !

3 out of the 42 LEDs decided to stop working - luckily this happened after our trip and still within the warranty period. Fingers crossed this replacement one will last longer.

XV: Replaced the plastic "skid plate" with a Subextreme one. Had to mod it a lot, rubber mount and larger countersunk bolts and very large Al washers and HiDen nylon spacers. Also had to put side wing extenders. Painted with sound deadening. Happier it is less likely to crack now ( it's cast).
Have to make plates for the gearbox and diff now.

2 way radio

installed a two way radio, worked out rather well for a novice.

Gidday Folks

Washed Roo2, checked everything. The tyres had lost about 8 psi since I last checked them about 6 months ago ... So I pumped them all up to about 35 psi, including the spare and did all my trailer tyres to 24 psi as well.

Cleaned all the windows inside and out.

We are going to a family funeral at Camperdown later this week. Round trip of around 600 kms, so wanted to get everything shipshape before then. Roo2 is about due for an engine oil change after that.

Will do, Ate, thanks mate :iconwink:.

Probably book it in sometime next week.

SWMBO's Forester could also do with an oil change. And maybe new boots soon.

Boots don't need to be changed until there's nothing but burning grease in the engine bay, sending its unique smell throughout the cabin of the car, with what is probably carcinogenic fumes...I think it's time I replaced cv boots before I need to replace drive shafts again

Take it easy on your trip up north mate.
