What have you done to your car today?

Dedman... Safe journey! You've done well to fit your whole life in one load. We did our last load in November last year and I feel like I'm still sorting it out! Doesn't help that we've been building as well.

Best regards,

this weekend I hope to be doing a snorkel on my imp. ive got the 2" pvc and cement, just need to get a few more things for mounting purposes. ill post up a project thread as I do it.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Hopefully it goes well.

Hope those bikes are locked on that thing somehow, have a good trip!
The have a bike lock around the tow bar but if people want to steal them they will regardless of what you do. I just hope that doesn't happen...

All the very best for a safe, pleasant and uneventful trip DM.

How long are you going for?

The trick is just being harder to rob than the next guy

Bloody long way to go see a performance!

My poor old 2002 SG is off the road due to gearbox bearing noises. Time to upgrade the gearbox given it needs some work. Got a 1.447 low range from a SF gear box and have 4.4 front and rear diffs, new 5th gear and speedo drive. Just hope I am back on the road in time for the Victorian Subaru club trip to South Australia.

Caught up with Rick the gear box man yesterday. Rick has pulled my gear box down and washed everything. Looks like I should replace my clutch plate while everything is apart . The 1.447 low range that I bought is in perfect condition. The SF box I bought came out of a lowered Forester and Rick reckons they never used it, despite the SF doing some 300,000 km! Can't remember which bearing but it was totally shot :(
Hopefully I will be back on the road next weekend and can try it out on one of the tracks near home :)

lol as opposed to my 300,000km SF which uses low range every day to reverse out of my god dam drive way.

I think it's the input shaft bearing that goes, definitely get him to replace the bearings that typically go, He'll know which ones. Great find with the LR!

idw, I bet my LR is pretty worn, & my 1st gear grinds now lol, so I take off in 2nd low

Btw, are you interested in a EJ20J? SUEC used every service, will be in great condition internally, needs timing belt, etc, Head gaskets good

Thanks Nachaluva, it is the input shaft bearing, I was a bit tired last night after chain sawing fallen trees from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm :(

I searched for quite a while for a SF gear box and felt comfortable that this one would be okay and the seller was genuine.

havachat - I am interested in where you sourced your 4.44 diffs. Are they front and rear? Which model Subaru did you get them from? I am looking to upgrade the diffs in my SF Forester that currently has the 1.59 low range in it from the standard 4.11s to 4.44s. I have a DCCD for the centre so looking to upgrade the front and rear diffs while it is all apart getting the DCCD installed. I also have a 1 way Cusco LSD for the front.

The 4.44 diffs come from a SG XT manual, you also need the matching 5th gear & the speedo drive gear

Got those bits as well !!

Looking forward to trying it out on a track at the back of my place. And then Moonlight Spur Track near Mt Terrible and Weston Track near Mt Sterling for the real test!
