What have you done to your car today?

cruise, foglight, and heater leds are prone to blowing from minimal voltage changes, Just means on light anymore, you can change them just need a phillips head and to remove the switch from the panel.

Other news, new radiator went in today! ended up going with an auto radiator as it was a little cheaper and the auto trans line lets me add a loop to use as a heat exchanger to make a hot shower. Took a couple of photos to do a 'how to' but it is so simple I don't really know if I'll bother, there's only 2 bolts holding the whole thing on.

And that's after i scrapped most of the mud off it, and cleaned out all the crap suck between the radiator and condenser.

Replaced the rear LCA bushes in the outback... old ones were pretty shot, bits of rubber fell out when they came off.

This seems to have solved the vague directionality under load changes (like braking).

Pretty easy job with a big breaker bar. 40min each.

New vs. old

Taza, still waiting for your SC :rotfl:

duncanm, shame you didnt ask about this, I would have suggested SuperPro caster offset bushes to really improve the steering

yeh.. I did look at those, but the faffing about with the bushes (removing old guts, pressing superpro ones in), and price difference put me off. These Febest ones were $30 a pop, built to OEM specs.

Well thanks be to Buddha I finally made it back after a 7 day 2300km trip (in 2 other cars) to Scooby2 who has faithfully waited for me loaded to the gunnels. The cooler climate and electronic rust protection brought about a flattery.... But a little encouragement and she is indeed well and truly alive :-)

3 more days and 500 more Kms till she is properly back in service for a short time.

I can honestly say my body has been missing her very unique comfort, style and tenacity on the road. Miss it all very much over long distances!

Best regards

Yeah, mate.

Life is what happens to us all while we are planning other things ...

Have been plagued by a smallish "clunk"from LHS going over gutters and potholes etc for some months as well as a noisy LH front CV.
Suspected LHS strut caused noise but today we, my faithful mechanic and I, found "clunk"came from LHS front lower control arm bush which needed tightening. No more "clunk".
Considering distance, 327000 kms, car has traveled strut is in excellent condition. Hope RHS front one is similar.
Removed and stripped LH front drive shaft and found water in outer CV joint plus lotsa rust.
But that`s another story.
Suffice to say that a letter to shaft supplier is in progress.

I replaced my rear bushes a while ago with SuperPro caster offset but my front bushes are clunking now & the steering is horrible!

They are relatively easy and straightforward to get to but the bolts are tight, as I guess they should be.
Watch that the socket is on straight as it will slip as access is a little tight.

Giving RonnyRoo a really good vacuum, clean all inside surfaces, clean glass inside and out to get rid of the scum, then a good wash outside.

Fitted the OEM cargo area protection tray under the bottom of the cargo barrier so that it fits properly, and stays put. Involved drilling some holes through it for the bottom retaining bolts. Actually managed to get them in the right places, first up ....

Also fitted reflective tape to the inside lip of the hatch so that approaching motorists can see lots of reflectors from the rear at night.

Still got to finish the vacuuming. I needed to service the garage vacuum cleaner because the old bag had disintegrated :puke:. Once the inside is done, then it gets a bath.

Checked all the fluids. Checked the tyre pressures, including the spare.

SWMBO is going to Canberra for a seminar for next week.
