What have you done to your car today?

It's an XT with the xenon low beam set up and I'm being told that the only replacement made is the genuine one and wreckers have already been tried and none available. I've decided to do it as an insurance claim at the cost of the $600 excess. I can live with that. Still stunned at how much a genuine headlight costs though. And the 3 week wait.

SGS parts plus down here in Sydney is dismantling a 2007 foz.

Put blinky up for sale.

On that note, anyone with an sf who wants a sports (catback 2 1/4" 3" resonator, high flow muffler) exhaust for $100 and a swap for a good sf exhaust pm me.

If the fitting price is $160 for about 45 minutes work that`s not a bad hourly rate at all........for the workshop that is, not for you. Obviously a case of paying for knowledge, not time.
They charge $99 + GST an hour which is pretty reasonable in this day and age. And my experiences have been they are people who really know what they're doing and do it well.
The local Subaru dealer charges $120 + GST I think.

Cold start this morning less than 1 degree C. Had to scrape the ice off the windscreen.

On the way home from work tonight stopped at the Kangaroo warning sign at the bottom of our road. Thought I had better do the right thing, as there were two very large Kangaroos waiting at the sign to cross the road!!

I am now seriously thinking about putting in a 1.59 low range after getting stuck on Moonlight Spur track at Easter. Just ran out of grunt on a very steep rocky climb :(
Having the 65 series tyres in place of the 60 series is great for ground clearance, but on steeper climbs I do struggle a bit.

Radiator has a pin hole crack in the top tank, patched it with some plastic and silicon gasket till the new one gets here.

Finally fitted the Gorilla 1 inch lift to my 2004 Foz. I now have 2 lifted Foresters. I have retained the stock springs and struts as this is in good working order including the rear SLS. My 2002 also has raised King spring.
Also fitted the roof box for the ski season.
SteveMY07 did most of the heavy lifting on fitting the lift kit.

Well my foz has convince me to keep it. Now time to fix a whole lot of little things,

Stuffed a whole heap of foam padding between the rear or the rear seat frame and upholstery.
So it's a bit more comfy to sleep in

after picking this up for the princely sum of 100 dollars, work is already underway on bringing it up to the same general specs as the H6 forester

today was pulling the gearbox to fix the binding t/o bearing with a TSK-1 kit, and tomorrow will be tying up loose ends before i shove it outside until the new UEL headers arrive! also installed a few new bushings here and there while i had it out, and maybe a few more tomorrow, too.

best part of this car? the previous owner had been bringing it to us since it was new in 1998, so i have complete maintenance records on it. there's a little typical new england rust around the fenders, but the underside is astonishingly clean, and not even a hint of piston slap on a motor with 217k miles on it. i've already been adding my leftovers from the forester to it in the meantime, and should be getting both cars emissions legal and on the road within the next month or so.

future plans include either a much fresher 60k DOHC 2.5 for it, or potentially an eg33 swap if things pan out accordingly.

So after 3 months of not having windscreen washers, i got pissed off and hit the pump with a spanner. I now have washers again.

Keep getting a check engine light for half a second or so, every couple 100km's. Can't read it the code, because it wont stay on...

^ dodgy connection to the CEL, perhaps?

If it's throwing a code, that code should be stored in the ECU, regardless of how briefly the code occurs for, I would have thought??

Is there a minimum time that a code must exist for before it is recorded in the ECU code history table?

Worked it out, tried the other wires this time (Happens a lot I am colour blind),

Knock sensor circuit...
