What have you done to your car today?

Got dragged backwards at the pines to get out of a soft spot, ended up dragging me 300m in reverse, heard a loud thunk and the gearbox won't go into some gears, and it'll try to go into the rest but just grinds. Mechanic reckons I've blown the clutch, so I'm parting it out :-\

If it's just the clutch it won't be too expensive to fix, but if it's other stuff as well...
If it is stuff, will you get another Forester and keep this one as spares?

selling the fozzie, parting it out, but i'll hang around the forum (still got the 'preza!)

Before you go parting it out, if its just a blown clutch, thats not very expensive if you're willing to do the work yourself. A clutch isnt hard to do if you have someone to help you who"s done it before

My mechanic said "the entire car is just worn out, it's beyond stupid to even think about fixing it"

You might be able to make more money fixing it on the cheap and selling it to someone who doesn't know a thing about cars(depends on what other damage has been done). But the poor person would end up with something that should not be road legal. The chassis would not be in the same shape after it's mud flogging and there are countless other things like that.
Twinklz should be able to get back a reasonable amount back on it as he does have many after market items worth money which don't add value to the overall car.

Yeah I'm not giving some poor sod my car. It's getting parted. It's beyond economical repair

Did a clutch on the way to work this morning.

What is with the clutches in Perth. I did mine about 3 weeks ago. The throw out bearing seized.

While we are at it- how about the best places to get stuff done in Perth.

I had the flywheel machined at Perth Brake parts $75 (stepped flywheel) and about 2 hour turn around.

I knew mine throw out bearing was failing so had bought some parts from the US but I needed to get a new pressure plate as mine was damaged by the throw out bearing . Went to Brake and Clutch Australia in Malaga and they had the part off the shelf $250 for a pressure plate for the "flex" flywheel. And they are open Saturday morning.

D&D Precision Automotives in kelmscott, can't praise them enough for the quality of work they've done on the Fozzie and how quick they are too, definitely taking my new car there

I wonder if you guys ride the clutch in the sand? Might be better to just keep your foot off the clutch & if it stalls so be it  Reverse along your tracks & try again
