What have you done to your car today?

Mine takes 54 litres when sucking air but that is less than the 60 because of some dents in the bottoms of the tank... You havent damaged your tank offroad recently have you?

I have the same car as Dulagarl, I only ever run out of fuel wiry 2-3l left in the tabk. I fill up 52-55l every tank but never have an issue with it spluttering or what not until its almost bone dry.
I usually get 450km to a tank with a mix of driving. So roughly 11.5 I ler 100km. As the majority of people know my aggressive driving style I think thats alright. My heavy right foot means im either at zero throttle or full throttle when accelerating.

Nah bottom of tank is in great nick. Had dents taken out when refurbished.

New tires time!

I was trying to hold out on these until i got my lift but it seems fate disagreed...and some cheeky ******* stole my shiny red dust caps too!

Anyone had experience with GTRadials champiro228? At 429$ for 5 tyres and 5 yr warranty I wasnt arguing :)

Threw the money down on brand new front cv joints (non genuine) instead of reconditioned ones. Hoping that was the right choice cost was about the same. Would of made one good shaft out of the two worn GSP shafts (same part no. look identical) but the bloody spline on the shaft is different! i bought them from the same place at the same time i don't get it

Bit annoyed the genuine ones got 200,000km, aftermarkets got about half that. Except for one original i put back in which the outer joint is still going.

I got the gearbox oil seals replaced & the preload adjusted:

gearbox oil stinks & doubly so when it drips on a hot exhaust:

gearbox side retainer off:

Bad news is the diff breather came out of my new plated rear diff & dirt/water got in :( I'll have to flush it out & redo the breather with a brass fitting

Bad news NachaLuva.

Did you do the preload of the front diff yourself ?

As I have already done this I can give you some tips…if you want !

How hard was the diff seals? i have a really slow leak in one of mine i should do before it gets bad.

On a side note bought my partner and i bought a new car we pick up tomorrow! And we still have the suby

I got Rick to do it. He's the guy who built Venom's & El Freddos driveline & my diff, he specialises in Subaru gearboxes & diffs, so was a piece of cake for him. I would not have wanted to do it by myself as the consequences of getting it wrong are a blown diff, which would mean opening the gearbox!

Also, as he was putting the new seals in, the axles & bearings kept moving, which I would have very difficult to get right plus risk damaging the new seals :(

Woohoo :monkeydance:

PS: while I was there, saw another SF box getting a front torsen diff & DCCD centre diff, plus a taller 5th gear :lildevil:

My poor plated diff. It had been making horrible grinding noises. While it was up on the hoist I found the breather tube had come out & dirt & water/mud had got in :(:shake:

My $40 Redline oil, its meant to be a light, clear pink. This is after I drained it & flushed out the diff:

Staked one of my procomps right through the sidewall, might try to put a tube in it and just save it for use as a spare.

Gutted.

one new cv joint in, bought a set of long punches to do the job. Made it so much quicker about 20minutes. Don't know why anyone who's able bodied and has the tools wouldn't do it themselves.

Screw drivers with the tip ground off are perfect for the retaining clips too, and the handle makes it easier to hit and hold with a hammer.

I looked at my car today.

Who is copying my box? It is copyrighted. I want royalties.

Gidday Folks

Finally drilled and tapped a thread in the coupling on my trailer. Put in an adjustment bolt. Works well.

Also ordered an OzTrail 6 camper tent for my trailer, along with the optional "sun room". Paid the deposit, and might be able to pick it up in Mildura week after next, if things get a little less hectic than they have been lately!!

Will freshen up my trailer build thread with the info, and maybe upload some piccies.

Had a battle replacing the drivers side cv as the sun was going down, things a pos to get back in around the cat. as the garage went dark i gave up and came inside, with the garage had some lights. I'll try again in the morning, probably go straight in if i can see what im doing.

Now excuse me as i eat my words from earlier...

Put the wifes SH Forester in for service at Doncaster Subaru stealership today. I will be glad when the warranty expires and can have it serviced by an independent mechanic. Even Eastern Subaru at Lilydale are a good option ( and not part of Inchcape).

Purchased a Navman MiVue 358 dash cam today and getting it hard wired in on monday to eliminate the use of the 12v outlet. Too many times have I witnessed stupidity on the roads. Time for some video proof!
