What have you done to your car today?

Good to hear the whining sound is gone now tweaksta!

Today I;m having the driving lights (Lightforce 170s) wired up. Tomorrow my new King Springs are getting fitted. Yay! So come Friday I'll have more light and height!

Regards,

Joel

I'd love to hear how the Kingies go.....they are next on my list.

Did you get 4 x standard height HD's?
Or Raised HD rears and std height fronts?
Or 4 x raised HD's?
Or 4 x std height HD's?

Would love to know as I'm about to do the same.

Exciting stuff!

Yeah I'll let you know how they go, for sure! I got 4x raised HD. I believe that it is the heavy dutyness (i may have made that word up) that actually makes them lift the car about 1 inch. I was going to get the Subtle Solutions 1" strut blocks too, but the tyre shop I'm getting the springs fitted at, talked me out of it, saying that it will probably chew out cv joints and possibly create driveline vibration.

Joel

Today I gave my Forry a fresh drink of oil & a new oil filter to go with it.

I also changed the air filter aswell. While I was at it, I decided to clean the cabin filter too. On top of that I also added some upper engine cleaner aswell.

I must say that she feels better now that she's had a detox.

If only they knew what they are talking about! :iconwink:

Sure you will get extra wear but "chew out" is a bit over the top. A reconditioned drive shaft incl inner and outer CVs fully fitted is $240. I've got 140K klm on the clock and have replaced my front RHS due to the common boot failure, not CV.

That sounds pretty reasonable to me. After getting the car back, the tyre shop said I cold probably get away with the strut blocks as well, since I carry a bit of wait in the boot all the time. I have to go back and get "coil wrap" fitted to the front springs, and so I might order some strut blocks to be fitted while I'm at it. We'll see.

So far both on road and off road I'm very happy with the new springs. The ride is great, and the extra height gave me more confidence in a few creek crossings, over the weekend. There is a significant difference to the look of the car, (forgot to measure the height before fitting). It's currently about 40mm higher than a standard '98ish SF Forester up the street.

I replaced my rear cv shaft today

You may ask you don't normally replace rear cv's? your right but it pays to keep an eye on them.

I have been doing a lot of fairly hard 4wding lately and must of had a small tear in the boot that i didn't know:sad:
Over a couple of months and a lot of mud and dirt the tear got bigger mud got in and that was it.

I did hear a noise in the rear when turning left but thought it was the plastic fuel tank protector hanging down and rubbing

It wasn't till i finally gave the car a wash thats when i saw it "bugger" thank goodness i've got the parts car

Took me 30 minutes to do

The moral to this story is when you go 4wding give the car a wash top and under
Have a look around if you get to a torn cv boot before dirt gets in it will only cost you a new boot not a whole shaft.

G'day lads,

Gave my foz the clean she has been crying for. I only wish she didn't have have all the plastic around her as it costs me a Melbourne Storm salary cap in Armourall trying to protect it...

Only problem is now, that she will pine for the mud and dirt again....

Cheers,

Aitcho.

Sold it, my Brumby has now gone to a young bloke as his first car.

Replaced it with an Import Surf (hilux station wagon with all of the creature comforts)

I went off road on Sunday and knew that one front cv boot was a bit doggy:shake: noticing it when i did the rear last week.

So i had a look today and saw that it was a bit deformed on a closer look there was a small amount of grease coming out :censored:

I got the replacement shaft in, Then looked over the other side and saw the other one split nearly all the way around:censored::censored::censored: not happy Jan

So i started at 3pm just swapping shafts over from the parts car i was finished tools away by 4pm not bad i thought

All ready for this weekend at Imbil:biggrin::woohoo:

I'm sure it will look even more sweet when it's fitted.

Look forward to seeing it once it's installed. :)

I'm still looking at getting a snorkel... Does your Hilux one run down the outside of the guard? (Like Mr Turbo's) or does it have most of the ducting inside the guard? (Like TroyXT and benwarn). I'm also keen to see shots of it fitted.

Joel
