What have you done to your car today?

I drove to Brisbane from Townsville and the next morning I went outside and decided to do a check under the bonnet to make sure i didnt lose any oil or othe fluids and found that the a/c belt was half the width it was meant to be and had jumped over 2 of the ribs and the alternator belt was starting to disintegrate. What's even worse is no one had the correct size so I had to buy genuine and I forgot to take photos.

For people who don't know that's a 1490km trip and I did check the belts before I left.

Went up the mountains on a track I know very well to compare the mods...well, it's much better.

Drove up a long steep climb where I usually needed momentum in 1st low range but now I can get up there with 1000rpm. I even stopped at half climb and just restarted as if I was at a red light !

Didn't find a place where the DCCD was needed (like diagonal spin) and as long as I don't have the rear locker, it won't help me much...still waiting on that French mechanic...

washed the car, found all the little stone chips and damaged paint. theres alot!

I try not to think of these things as damage, but more as battle scars

Hopefully they're not too deep & you can polish them out

few chips to the undercoat here and there, abit of spray bog and fix them up with the air brush. Theres a big patch on the roof which is flaking that'll need more work when i've got the time, big hunk of road was flicked up onto the roof from a truck. I saw it bouncing down the road onto the bonnet windscreen and hit the roof. at the time i was greatfull the windscreen was fine, the dent on the bonnet came out easy enough with a little tap and a polish

Broke a Cam belt on the way home from work last night (in the Beigewagon). Only 2 kms from home so not far to go, and not far to recover. Luckily I have the Bluewagon as a back up.

I got my car muddy yesterday near Warburton, made it up a few hills I didnt think I would & caught a sideways slide down another...all good fun

Very glad it didnt go straight through the windscreen!

The timing belt? Thats a non interference engine isnt it?

New exhaust on the 04 forester today much better sound now. Still deciding on the future with my 99 forester, now that I have a job $$ don't whether to do it up or upgrade to bigger a better things. Decisions decisions......

Installed a metal skid plate to replace the old plastic one. Took some creativity to bend 1/8 in. galvanized steel without any real tools but it came out pretty good and it seems plenty strong. Even got to test it out off road and it worked well.

Not today, but a couple of weeks ago.

I had this inverter lying around for a couple of years and finally decided to install it. It's wired directly from the battery with an extra cut-off switch in the center console. The pass through to the trunk seemed the best place to be able to use it either while camping or on a road trip.

Great job with the bending shotgun willie & GOAT, thats a very nice, clean install of the inverter too

Well done guys :raz:

Nachaluva,

Yes the L Series cam belt (timing belt) on the left bank broke, and yes it is a free spinning (non interference) engine.

Just need to change the belts, and away we go.

Made a bracket for my solar panels to go on the roof while out camping, or on the ground so I can adjust the angle for the best output

Had my muffler lifted. They did a nice job making a new section of pipe, cost $80 though.
Gotta try to find a way of lifting the middle section...the resonator sits up against the tailshaft bearing (dropped 40mm with the body lift) so cant come up at all. Its sitting pretty low & exposed :(:shake::shrug:

Go with a 2 1/4" exhaust from the cat back with high flow muffler and hot dog resonator, then it can be lifted and tucked up nice and high. I'll be doing this shortly on my foz.
