What have you done to your car today?

Got a set of 15in OEM wheels for 50$ in pretty decent shape. They'll be in storage until the spring, as winter tires (on the 16in wheels) go on next week. That means it should now be easier to find some A/Ts (a task for which I have until next april to take care of).

Now... I'm debating wether I keep these steelies stock silver-ish gray, or if I paint them black or something else... I like the dark bronze, but that wouldn't really work on that style of wheels. Black might work with those who have the dark grey cladding, but with my silverish gray cladding... I'm not really convinced it's the best choice.

ARG! Decisions.

Oh, and hopefully the lift should *finally* be installed this week... it's been sitting in the shed for way too long

That sounds good stilson :)

It's actually given me an idea of something I might do with mine

Stay tuned :iconwink:

It replaces the numberplate light and plugged straight into the back of the stereo, gotta love plug and play :raz:
pity I had to pull out the interior to run the cables neatly

not bad for $21.00

Put on the stock XT rims and tyres I am borrowing from Lefty as I think my car has a diff whine :( I have narrowed it down that it's not CV's or bearings and sounds like the rear diff when you rotate the rear wheels when it's jacked up  :furious:
I'm a little annoyed to say the least. I thought it might of been my tyres rubbing as thats what it sounds like but after swapping them it was still there.

Good news is that they made the car heaps faster, Obviously the steel rims and heavy offroad tyres make a big difference :( Might have to look into getting a separate set of rims and tyres for offroad/onroad..

They do look good on my car I reckon :iconwink: Opinions?

Oh and I polished the whole car with the buffer I borrowed from work. Polished all the lights, indicators, door handles and bullbar.
Came up pretty well

The bar after a quick once over with the buffer because I'm lazy  :)

Before the polish.
You can tell it's not as shiny, the tyres make it heaps higher too  But slow :(

congrats taza uni sucks for sure, but i finish (if i pass) in a couple of week

wheels look good, tire size though :shake: :rotfl:

maybe a set of alloys and some bigger tyres on them once your dunlops wear out?

Well done guys :raz:
You got it for a bargain at just $21 OutbackOiler, of should I say for a steal at that price :monkeydance:

Your Forry came up great tazz :raz:
If you want a great shine for your front bar, try a product called "Mothers" :iconwink:

It comes in a small white tin & is available from Super Cheap. It's fantastic stuff & will bring it up to looking new.
It's what I use & is only about $10 or $12 a tin.

Sure it's not bearings? These can be very difficult to diagnose at the best of times.

As you've said since stating the above, drain your oil for clear stuff and go from there. But if you lift and spin each rear wheel and there's a rumble/not smooth in one or both sides then it's the bearing that's shot.

Cheers

I was 'convinced' mine was the diff, turned out it was the rear bearings...:p

Both rear bearings were replaced less than 6000km ago...

Well got it up on the hoist at work this arvo.. Gave her a good general check over. Everything looks pretty sweet. started her up and could hear the noise from both rear wheels.
It's not bearings, there is no movement on the wheels. Either the rotors are warped or it's the fact that the rear brake pads have nothing on them at all... :( I guess 194,000km isn't bad from a set of rotors and pads. That's what I got from my rears :iconwink:
Will replace the pads this week and if the noise is still there do the rotors too.
If it's a bearing then that's easy as we have a bearing press at work

Just need to sort out my motor now..

I can't imagine the rotors would be in good nick after 194K km either! Would at very least need machining or replacement probably.

With 194K km's on the rotors I don't think I'd even worry about getting them machined. I'd just replace them along with the pads if it was me :iconwink:

Gidday Taz

The front rotors on Roo1 were still perfect and within spec at 234,000 kms. The rear drums had never been machined or had the linings replaced.

Of course, it had very little dirt road use either, in the scheme of things.

Your rotors may need skimming, but shouldn't need replacing, unless machining would take them under spec. Machining should be heaps cheaper than new rotors.

Bloody Camry had to have the front rotors replaced at about 95,000 kms ... :(. Apparently the rotors were softer than the OEM brake pads ... nuff said, grrr. Replaced them with after market rotors made out of decent steel ...

Today i replaced tenson pully ac belt power stear belt and a new passanger mirror.. time for a oil changen and diff and trany service tomorrow .
