What have you done to your car today?

I bought a protector for the top of the rear bumper off ebay and installed it today, I though it was an aftermarket job but it turned out to be a genuine subaru one, part numbers and all

It was only $200 cheaper than the one quoted from the local dealer:monkeydance:

Started replacing my window tint. It was all pealing, bubbling and scratched. Especially in the boot, rather than pay the $500 to get it done I am doing it myself.
So far done windows and it turned out well, especially since it should only cost me $100-130 all up :iconwink:
I accidentally got 5% Black Smoke for the rear windows (all but front two as thats super illegal on the front ones) and it is extremely dark. Looks good though, really goes well with the blue of the car  You can't even tell what the passengers in the rear seats look like, you can only see a person figure

Will post up some pics tomorrow

Oh and thanks Kevin!
Looks great OutbackOiler, I could use one of those on my foz..

Sounds good taza :)
I'll have to get mine done soon too :iconwink: Probably do it at the end of the year as the 2 front windows are starting to peal on the edges :bcool:

As for what I did, or should I say found on my Forry today, was the 2x back bolts holding my sump guard on were missing
So I got my spare ones (bolts) & put them back on :)

However, while I was under there, I noticed that I've done a drive shaft boot :madred:
Funny thing is I don't know how I did it, as I haven't been offroad lately
Anyway, I'll be having that fixed in the next few days, when I get the parts :)

Regards
Mr Turbo

I've driven smith town to gisborne (north nsw to vic) with a torn boot held together with gaffa tape. wasnt the forester though.

but today i ran a 20amp constant to the passenger footwell just need ideas what to do with it.

probably too much power for that very sensitive device

Today I pulled the wee little 2.2 out of my OBS and started tearing down the EJ253 for the rebuild. Rusty has a set of new strut spacers made from Delrin so hopefully I can get some free time here soon and install them. They are only 1" for now, I did not want to start over loading the CV's and binding stuff up just yet. I am kind of in the middle of a divorce right now so things are slowing down on all the projects :(

Thanks. Honestly if I did not have my dog and my garage/hobbies I would probably be dead right now :( I really did not see the divorce coming at all. I am going to school in February, so hopefully things will pick up.

I know what you mean CC. When I found myself unexpectedly solo - albeit in very different circumstances - I found hobbies, and especially ORS invaluable. The comradeship of members of this site kept me going, and my mind in a happier place. I regard ORS as the 'virtual equivalent' of a "Mens Shed".
(Don't know if they exist where you are, but here Mens Sheds are places for old - i.e. retired - pharts to get together and 'do stuff'. The theory is that, in the process, we will also talk about other the sh!te that p!sses us off. Like that would ever happen... :rotfl:)

Alright here is a pic of my new tint. The new tint is on the rear windows and the old pealing 12yr old tint is on the front.

I'm pretty happy with the results overall but it certainly isn't a professional job. How can I complain though since the car is done for under $100 vs ~$500
for a professional job. Since the car is so old and isn't a show car I'm not super worried, it isn't noticeable to the average person but there are some minor bubbles and a couple of creases in some of it.
It does it's main function though, keeping the car cool! I jump in this morning and outside it was almost 30 degrees, inside the car I was almost cold!! :surprised: :iconwink:
Should make a big difference when summer comes around and we are seeing 40+
I haven't done the front two windows yet as I didn't have anymore tint and that tint is illegal on the front two anyway because it is so dark. Might put something lighter on eventually :raspberry:

I'm sorry to hear about that Cañon Carver.

I know exactly what you mean & where you're coming from mate, with what you mentioned above :)

Your Forry looks great taza :raz:
And as you say, you can't complain about the price either :raz:

Feel for you Jamie, must be a tough time.

Headlights for the Fox are at the stage of mock up/pre-final assembly test stage.

Just some small clearance issues limiting adjustment to sort out and I can seal them up and refit them.

Oh Jamie

Thanks. Honestly if I did not have my dog and my garage/hobbies I would probably be dead right now :( I really did not see the divorce coming at all. I am going to school in February, so hopefully things will pick up.

Been there, done that; and neither did I. Over 30 years ago now, but still hurts at times.

Things WILL get better mate, but the serious hurt lingers for quite a while.

All my very best wishes to you in coping with this extremely difficult time.

The final product of my DIY window tinting. I think it really sets the blue off, much better than the old stuff. Again this morning works well when I jumped into my car :)

Looks great how difficult was the tinting? and where'd you get the tint i might need to try it!

This afternoon thanks to daylight savings, i cut the new rear covering for my boot to cover the spare wheel. covering all but the tool pocket for the jack and cut a nother piece to still get to the jack. tomorrow i think i'll start the rest of the rear storage system.
