I was on 25 PSI. As young Ned once said, such is life. But he could have been talking through his hat, so he may have been misquoted. You've seen his hat so you'll understand

A tentative yes. I did get a wooden stake through the tread and thus a puncture (which proves yet again you only get punctures on new tyres)
It's always the way isn't
It's always on the new ones & never on the older ones.

I'm sure it was just bad luck.

The upcoming trip will be interesting to see how they go on long stretches of gravel
That will be a good test, thats for sure :)
I'm also sure you'll be pleasantly surprised with their performance :)

Regards

Any news about your Kaaz rear diff, is it noisy on road at low speeds on a tight turn ?

I looked at the Kaaz different applications and discovered that they have a plated center diff for our Subarus :)

Yes, I can hear it but it is not too bad. You can also feel a slight rumble as well. Get the rear plated diff and see how you go. I now have the video of the car (and the Patrol too!) climbing the hill from the outside, but it requires editing before posting. Yes, a plated centre diff would be the next option, but it is not a priority given how well the car goes at present. For now, I am looking at options for camping, such as a car fridge, second battery, etc.In the outback, such things are really quite important and I have been fortunate to have not got into more trouble without them.

Where are you planning to put the second battery? or are you just going to run a battery box removable setup?

Either where the back seat goes- passenger side- or in the footwell passenger side. At this stage, my plan is to only have it in the car when needed. I still have a fair bit of research to do, but I have some idea of the direction I wish to go.

I'm in the process of running some 50amp cable to the back of the car for a inbox type setup. but last trip I ran the car fridge (waeco) off the starter battery for 6 nights and never showed any signs of losing cranking strength, so it's become less of a priority.

The expensive bit is the fridge. So far I have looked at the Waeco, the Evakool and the Engel, and at this stage, the Engel is in front. Early days though

Only problem with the Evakool is that they are not hinged the way i want them. I want them hinged at the end, not the side. The Engels are hinged on the end. Maybe Evakool will make one to order, but getting one at the right price becomes harder

Lousy Customer Service from Yokohama Tyres

I have had 3 punctures in in 6500km's with my Geolander ATS tyres. The first 2 I had to fix while away. One was a wooden stake through the tread, and another unknown also through the tread. I paid for the repairs as I was too far away to consider using the warranty process. The third one had what I believe to be a rock through the sidewall. While Bob Jane Hornsby have been fantastic, Yokohama have been VERY difficult. As I live 80 minutes away round trip, it is most inconvenient to get a warranty claim. They want serial numbers of all the tyres, even the ones not being claimed for warranty plus other information that requires me to again go in to Bob Jane again. The tyres look as new tread depth wise.

The warranty procedure is very painful and makes the warranty not worth considering as a reason to buy seeing as the trouble you have to go through to get it. So far it will it will be a minimum of 3 days stuffing around. While I recommend Bob Jane Hornsby for their service, I cannot do the same for Yokohama. Very annoyed. The store manager says he has not seen a Yokohama rep for over 2 years! Seeing as Bob Jane are probably the biggest seller of tyres in the country, it's a bit of an indictment on Yokohama. By chance when I rang Bob Jane Hornsby not long ago he was with the Pirelli rep.

Punctures I know are a matter of luck, but 3 punctures in 6,500km's is raising doubts about the tyre. Another tyre has a big cut in the sidewall too.

Standard size. 215/60 16

The tyre was replaced today- what a drama. The A/T's are installed on the car within 24 hours of departure and removed within 24 hours of getting home. Thinking about it Kevin, I am beginning to think you might be the common factor! You were there for at least 2 of them..

I removed the pollen filter last night- it was filthy. I grabbed the air compressor and blasted with high pressure air the ventilation system while I had the pollen filter out. Dust went everywhere. Then when I turned the interior fan on, all this dust shot out the vents. I went to considerable effort on the trip to avoid dust coming into the cabin and into the engine air filter. Not just when road trains and the like went by, but other cars as well.

Upon hearing of a road train or other vehicle approaching, I'd hit re-circ, close the windows and even turn off the engine. For road trains, I'd pull off and stop on the side of the road. Didn't make much difference, The inside of the car still looks like a dust bomb has been let off. Still, a very small price to pay for spending time out there. Best place on earth, bar none.

Would you make a video where you have some diagonal spin so we could see your Kaaz in action, even better if upwards !

Easier said than done. I am trying to get this other video up, but it requires editing beyond my very limited ability to do it. I am hoping to speak to someone who knows someone next week. This weekend I am doing some off roading and a skidpan, but I doubt I'll get what you need there. In a couple of weeks I am off again, might be a chance then
