examples for myself how lift would look with my rims and how bumper cut would look
xKiztQ7.jpg

so normal steps for me do lift at least as much as in that pic, and then maybe cut bumper
kKYYJSo.jpg

car how its sits now, how +5cm would look and then +7cm wheel is in the air
would need bigger tires for better look there.

checked front arches for rust and how it looks, and put some bitumen spray over there , and then put back that plastic cover back

front grill plasti dipped to black

how it looks in dark with some lights

so for now it looks like thise. allready had more flex on same spot as i did test before lift and now wheels didint even lifted there

i like how much rear lifted so as im not too small person its better for me now to reach anything in trunk no need to lean so much down, now its on perfect height for me i would say.

and those 25mm wheel spacers now working great, looks great too with them. actually without wheel spacers after lift my rear wheels if lifted they where touching spring with tire allready, so wheel spacers solved that all and gave it proper look.

So about front sway bar links i had theory all is crap. It doesnt make any difference for wheel to drop at all. So connected it back with original links too. Its some magic but it does nothing for how much wheel drops down at all. On ground it was 46 in front arch to axle i mean wheel center and it was going down to 55 until its lifts from ground, that with disconnected sway bar but then i connected it and measured again and it was same, same 55cm until wheel lifts.
So yay no need to do anything with 3rd gen outbac ks in front after lift

how it sounds inside

car is amazing for long travels ... drove to sea about 500km all, plus some 100 in city and average fuel ussage is just 11.2l for 100km , thats just amazing numbers. compare to my 2001 4eat where it was using still 15l or 16l on high speeds, and this one using maybe 10l only. and then its LPG so my drive to sea cost me fo fueal just some 13 euros for some 250km .thats very cheap, petrol would cost double that.

I wonder how much difference larger tyres will make to your economy? You'll have to update us when you go larger

yes i wonder too depends on what AT tires i will put on. like bfg ta ko2 is heaviest all terrain tires i think , and like general grabber AT 2,3 are much more lighter ones. maybe i could try them, but then my problem i would like to put them on 17 rims and then you find that not much options left as some of them dont come on 17 with 225/65 they go much larger. so its hard . and then some grabbers AT3 are m+s tires for winter and some are not ... so thats another strange thing, as some shops dont even list them as m+s tires ,some shops just name them as summer tires, but they come in m+s too 4S models i guess. so its hard. mine ko2 where m+s thats why they cost more then other ones that could be just summer tires. i dont get that , why there is diff models on same size , ones can be summer only and others m+s . and some online shops just dont even separate them.

modified skid plate from 2001 , so now it fits, its light small , but enough to cover most important parts, and then measured another skid plate for gearbox so its would just follow that. but not put that on yet

again those places for someone could recover your car in hard situation are in best places again... they like saying : wanna use those ?? just brake that lower part of bumper or cut it . because its no way to use them with full bumper ... i wonder what they where thinking while putting them there?

i wonder what they where thinking while putting them there?
They're tie-down hooks for shipping not designated recovery points... :)

But they can be used as such ones.

Well... yes, but they weren't designed for it. :)

As long as you use an equalizer strap they'll be OK (should always use one on a monocoque chassis anyway)

Or make them stronger in some way. I still need to find there place for hi lift similar to what i did on 2001. I did removed bumper once to see whats there how it looks.
But equalizer strap is good anyway. Just people who go on those trips most timea dont bother to use them somehow on foresters as much as i saw never they used ones. And never in video you will see people use those on smaller suv cars, not that they stuck hard those subarus.

thinking about tires what size i could fit there and on 17 rims not 16 as most do , so i saw couple lifted BP outback and they had on them 225/70R16 all terrain tires without problems, so i should almost fit 225/65R17 i think well difference in size is small , r16 are 28.4' size and r17 are 28.5' . so its like almost same , but heard some people saying htey wont fit and others said they used that size and it was just about fit , maybe some plastic trim in front . i dont mind trim something there. well because i couls take pretty cheap tires at this size. so im thinking should i go for that size. there is not much from all terrain tires that goes at this size really 225/60R17 or 225/65R17 . so not much to choose from really.

this one lifted runs 225/70R16
b9a9es-960.jpg

this one too 225/70R16, so if they ok with those , at 28.4 size it would be kinda ok with 28.5 size is it not ?

This engine is not nice for fuel usage to drive around in city only
RebLdh2.jpg

33km in city fueal usage is terrible but you do short trip around 70km between citys and it goes down to 12l average. That last 2787km average is good for me.
But wait until i put some heavy all terrains there and see what happens.

...at 28.4 size it would be kinda ok with 28.5 size is it not ?
It's just a 0.4% difference between 225/70R16 and 225/65R17. That should be fine. If you are to put them in your car, the tyre shop usually can double check for clearance issues.

That's OK. Cities are almost always fuel consumption killers. I used to hyper-mile my Toyota before and I always avoid the city as much as possible.

First test in forest on local tracks where i went with my 2001 as well. Bumper for now dont have any problems as it is. But thats not steep angles sure
hcDUms8.jpg

And vdc works much better and easier then it was on 115kw 2.5 engine

Hows that exhaust sound for you? I like it , on low revs its very nice low sound

That fuel average becomes normal after some between cities trip.
And im not driving like i would want to save it either so that could be even lower i guess.

And just this morning i got my first ghostwalking on car as they call that for 3rd gens, road was semi wet maybe some but no slippery to walk it was all good and then on straight road i did about 90km/h speed and car started like go to side little rear was, so then i corrected it then it did that again couple times. Wow really! i thought... Then i remembered about that as i saw people talk about some ghostwalking. Well im not happy about it. I dont like it and its noy even snow there or anything.
But i didint do wheel alignment after lift too so i should do that maybe.
I drove on wet roads in rain on high speed before and nothing like that happened, but today it did ... So weird

Its weird as it looks yellowish gold on some light and just silver in other shots. In real its more like in first shot.

It's a bit like that dress..!

VDC testing again. as slow as it can make it as hard for it as can be. not aired down , full 2.4bar/34.8psi in tires. low profile 50 tires but works still ok, can be seen how they bulging

much smaller obstacle, just some diagonals . no problem

so far front bumper dont have any problems, will see with more tests, maybe will manage go with forester club some time to test better

look how high that side is and its soft like sand there
