NSW Sep camp?

Beaudy!

OK - I've posted it on the club forum

Good choice - much more important!
Yeah, taking up all of my time currently. Only got a month of going to school left :(:) (I'm surprised at how quickly it's here, I'm sad that I'm finishing, but happy at the same time)

Then exams are all over on the 5th of November.

Enjoy the camp guys!!! :)

G'day fellas! Which side (north/south/west) of sydney is this area? And is lift required??

I'm thinking of hatching a plan to attend, just need to know the answers to these questions then sort out some funds...

Cheers

Bennie

It's west. Have a look on google maps for Oberon, the start and finish point. The Abercrombie River NP is south from there.

I've never been there but don't believe a lift is required. The pics I've seen suggest it's fairly mild, just steep in places.

We have done it with an unlifted Forester (experienced driver); he's what he said:

"The trip in the book is the one we did the 1st time we went there in 2006, maybe the easy way except for Brian's hill ascent & the last few hills near the exit - but still a great trip to do. If you do a few of the other tracks that would be OK, but I wouldn't recommend doing Bald Hill from west to east - we did it east to west the past 2 years & that was hairy enough.

It is possible in a standard Forester with HT tyres if you have a LOT of off road experience (I did all the tracks set up like that this year), but expect some tyre & underbdy damage without a lift & AT tyres. It certainly isn't a trip for a 1st timer or even the first few trips.

A lifted Outback will do it, but NOT a standard one. "

Thanks for that description Kevin!

come on Bennie, would love to see your car. i'll even cook you dinner:lol:

I'm sooo tempted! I did say to myself that I wouldn't head off road in Ruby Scoo without any lift... From Kevin's description above it could be hit and miss for underbody damage - and I'd be on roadies...

I would really like to get the three inch lift in ASAP but I want it to be done with an engineer's approval so I know it'll be all good.

And I don't know about your cooking eden! Can anyone vouch?

I checked it out on google maps, looks like its about an hours north from goulburn which wouldn't be difficult to do... Just the possibility of folding my floor in again is putting me off - I've only just pushed it back out!

Cheers

Didnt realise it was so close, my mate did this with the land rovers club a few weeks ago in his FC101. Might see if he is keen to do it again, not sure which way he went but he did say it was pretty full on. Ill see what I can do...

:)

Would be good to put names to faces.

so if anyone knows...would it be possible to at least get to the camp site
with unlifted Outback (raised king springs tho) ?

Then maybe steal a ride with one of you or use my bush legs......
i'll have to get some topo maps....

re cooking.....me very handy with the ole camp oven:)

^ are the Kings +30mm ?

Camp is enroute, i.e. we don't return to it.

Anyone who's done the area before have a suggestion for a meeting point? I was thinking in Oberon. Doesn't seem much point trying to meet in western Sydney as we'll just get broken up going through the mountains with all those sets of lights.

Oberon is good.

How about Apex Park, Carrington Ave. What time? 09:30 am?

Looks good to me. Any objections?

How many cars are we expecting from from the Subaru Club?

hmm, not sure actually, all I did was replace the OEMs with the raised kings as per their catalog...

Advice I'm geting is that +30mm will be OK - still have to carefully watch front & rear.
