2006 Outback 3.0R 180kw VDC project

so new car , new project m new plans for it , and gathering new info what could be done witt it and choosing what fits me

what i bought

how it looked in my yard next day

changing inside and some outside bulbs to led's

examples for myself how lift would look with my rims and how bumper cut would look
xKiztQ7.jpg

so normal steps for me do lift at least as much as in that pic, and then maybe cut bumper
kKYYJSo.jpg

car how its sits now, how +5cm would look and then +7cm wheel is in the air
would need bigger tires for better look there.
r793dPS.jpg

checked front arches for rust and how it looks, and put some bitumen spray over there , and then put back that plastic cover back
EhSPSDH.jpg

front grill plasti dipped to black
gd8FK4g.jpg

how it looks in dark with some lights
9EkAKza.jpg

so those exhaust "sound mod" holes plugged
VtFMAHy.jpg

so now its sounds normal

and then sometimes VDC can do amazing things like very slowly turning wheels until it find more grip and then puts more revs and drives off. so it surely working for car to not stuck not dig down .at the end it looks like some low gear would work , very cool

looks like VDC imitating here low range
VDC: so how much low range you need ?
ME: YES
15EdMWJ.gif

but yes at some point i did more testing there and when i go back too much it cant climb up anymore just whines in place not spinning wheels at all, so it must be very precise moments for VDC to decide , ok lets try to up here, or other times just ok we not gonna give you torque lol. bye.

measured car with those larger tires , seems like i get about 2cm lift just from tires there
6mscu3j.jpg

so i understand that 2 inch subaru lift is because if more then axles got too much angle, but my angle is like nothing now with 5cm lift
Ihlwwpt.jpg

so why i cant go more lift then? , i dont see angle on my axles there

wanted to see what i could get better without bumper or cut half it again
sx1wFUF.jpg

before all that fixing i did again same place same sand just tjis time on petrol not LPG , so some better , forward it goes much better now , still maybe i got still some bad fuel mix or something there clogged maybe , wonder what i could clean still

now it gives revs well enough , its just not possible because i dig there so deep holes allready that i myself cant go there anymore up

so why i cant go more lift then?

Yes, you could lift more. My total lift is more than 2" as there are the 2" lift blocks, raised spring perches and heavy duty springs

some more calculations that came trying to fix all problems with tires that not fit in rear
ohh and some people not believe me but in rear axle becomes too long and wheel wont drop more down because of that , thats if you remove sway bar and you trying to get most drop there, i was doing that on my previous 2001 putting in rear little shorter axles from some impreza model or legacy cant remember

mLAslPG.jpg

not sure what model but some for rear are shorter then others and they make more drop in rear, and even if CV;s font be same you can just use that axle itself remove both CV's and put your CV's
rPC9mlIl.jpg

and not many options of tires that i could find here localy and cheaper ones. some comforsers AT or off road , or Cordiant AT or offroad ones, only comfrosers AT can be 17 size, cordiants are only 16 size and just like 2 sizes in 16 to choose from, they all would be smaller thought but maybe thats good

Yes, you could lift more. My total lift is more than 2" as there are the 2" lift blocks, raised spring perches and heavy duty springs

so how much extra you think you got there from springs ? 1 more inch ? so i could try like put extra 2-2.5mm spacer on top there, maybe. would be nice to use same bolts on metal spacers just put some spacer under that and use same bolts still to tighten that.
maybe just 1cm more would be visiable too .. i remember on my 2001 in front i remade like 6cm spacers from 5cm before and it was fine, but then old spings and old shocks can be lower themselfs too is it ?
maybe just new springs on old shocks would lift it some , i mean new OEM springs like KYBs

there is allways some time for nature

Kings 250 lbs/in +30mm rear
Kings HD +10mm (+30 reset down) in the front
The rear struts were extended 25mm

ohh those spings lift that much alone? must be more stress on shocks then so you extended them ok thats seems smart thing to do.
but see where i am those springs alone to buy for car is like too much price just to pay for springs. i heard some guy here make some custom shocks too , he like takess your shocks and rebuilds them , make them somehow more longer travel then originals too, but thats just from old style oil shocks not gas shocks. if its no secret in what way your shocks where rebuild extended ?

and do you think my larger tires could somehow impact VDC to how its acts on low revs like how much i got wheel spin compare to smaller tires , or thats not problem and i should just forget it .

found that my that air box is cracked and it sucking air via that gap so thats not ok. and cleaned some other stuff with that too

and thats why those models same as previous gen cannot keep rear sway bar after lift, because its just doesnt fit physicaly its became too long as after lift wheel went inside so its no space for sway bar there anymore.

so 5cm lift was kinda not enough for those tires so i wanted to do like some extra , like extra +2cm lift. for now did just on rear. lookd great. but was no way to put strut there like that so i used spring compressors there
BfojtIV.jpg

front ones are ready too to try 2cm extra lift
lKGIkqh.jpg

now im 186cm and with this lift im just reacing to close that rear gate , someone smaller wouldnt reach it anymore.

Are you testing how the BP will look with a few more cm of lift? It's a good test, especially during the lockdown, haha…

Yes i am . And wanna see will it solve problem for rear when tire was rubing with diagonals so now maybe it wont reach there. Will see axles angles and how car is driveable on road with all this on high speeds and cornering. Its little weird how rear wheels have now slightly different camber though they both on same lift.

so 7 cm lift spacers is it real , can it be done , is it possible on stock ? well i just did that and now im testing
those 7cm spacers went ok to front too just needed longer sway bar links , i put for now from rear , they just right lenght, and now in front everything reaching its limits cv axle is just about to touch control arm and that bushing still holding on even with that maximum flex there. so its reached limits , 7 cm reaching limits there of everything stock.
xlKLAkn.jpg

sway bar links from rear they not good for that angle but they just right lenght so i will know what lenght other links now to look for
R2dhQeA.jpg

so now on same place where with 5cm lift my rear tires where touching those arches and scrubbing tires , now they dont go there at all and not touching anything.
D9s9WTA.jpg

and found out what kind my rear diff is
3VQiQ9yl.jpg

found same number somewhere for sale and its says this info:
JDM Subaru Legacy GT Turbo 04-09 R160 VLSD 3.272 Rear Differential Diff Bl5 Bp5

so its VLSD 3.272 . nice . thats why its almost not possible to turn rear wheel by hand when just one side is lifted

so with 7cm lift rear wheels where out of alignemnt numbers so i got idea how to fix that DIY
n41oxCy.jpg

now its enough to put rear wheels on straight line. and in front driver side had bad camber so i just changed bottom bolt instead fat one i put normal 12 size bolt there and pushed it more inside. that was enough to make front camber positive , about 1 positive. i can allways make it smaller now with top adjustment bolt. so now its all ok with alignment all arround.

time to test flex and see how long those sway bar links will hold... not long
rVPHKph.jpg

so yh they wont work there but lenght is right. so i just need now longer links there same style as oem
all in all im happy with how it drove on twisty road and then on diagonals... seems like that rear still rubs tire some ... i couldnt believe its still goes on that tire with plastic, seems like just plastic fenders not metal this time.

Jn7zZEj.jpg

testing VDC on diagonals with 7cm lift and front broken sway bar link so its loose there.

This is how my kit allowed extended rear link

i ordered this one to try now. its 9cm lenght , but im not sure how that bushing part will hold those large angles

not sure how it would work i will try. but my link mounting point and sway bar hole its not like on same line when they goes up and down, yours just look perfect straight line both ends
