What have you done to your car today?

Hey guys! I went off-roading with my dadand 2 brothers 2 days ago in the Arizona desert. My dad and the older brother were skeptic about the car going through where they wanted to go. I'm gonna try to get the video from my skeptic brother that he took and I will up load some pictures when I get home too.

Good one cire! Subies are a lot more capable than most give them credit for. Esp good on sand. Looking forward to pics and vids :monkeydance:

Replaced the cabin air filter following my trip to Birdsville.

^ Whether it needed it, or not ... :iconwink:

That old one looks better than the one I put back in Roo2 last time.

I reckon that a bit of vacuum cleaner bag helps keep the main filter serviceable for longer

^ And that wasn't from following lots of traffic on the gravel, either! How long since it was last done?

On yesterday's 4wd adventure The Interceptor got a flat tyre. Burst the side wall from hitting a rock too hard. And then I said...

"This happens to everyone, that's why people often carry 2 spares. Hasn't happened to me yet, so I'll probably be the next to get a flat"

No prizes for guessing where this is heading. So this morning I woke up to find the Red XS only had 12psi in the front left (perfect for a beach run!). It turned out to be leaking from between the side wall and rim. After taking the tyre off the bead I found heaps of sand had encrusted itself on the inside of the rim, causing the leak. It took a scourer to get it off. It's all fixed now and back on the car.

Has anybody else had this?

That's pretty common when you air down, I had a piece of gravel in the bead of my tyre the day before we went out!

I have never had that with sand but I dont do a lot of sand driving. I always get that with muddy grit which is even worse because it sets solid in there and creates an unbelievably strong bond to the rim metal for some reason.

So it's a common problem then.

The sand seemed to bond onto the metal like rock too. Took quite a bit to get off, but I reckon mud would be a lot worse.

Replaced the clutch pedal rubber pad today. The pad had broken at the top and would slip down the pedal and foul on the fitted carpet mat stopping the clutch from fully disengaging.
So much easier to shift gears now!!

Changed the oil and filters today. Little overdue only got 2.5 ltr out of the sump. Uhf stopped working a couple of weeks ago, pulled it out to check the fuse, fuse fine but has developed a short somewhere. Not impressed with oricom at the moment, would expect more than 3 years out of a radio, if I manage fix the short chances are the transmitter is dead now amyway
