What have you done to your car today?

Re-blacked all my exterior trim and polished my rims and 'Roo bar! Just about to wash it now!

Come wash mine!!

I ripped a front chained mudflap off going backwards over a tree root.... so its back to the drawing board to make up some new ones that will be much harder to rip off.
Pulled the whole guard downwards, so it was bolted on proper, too proper grr!

Bring it round to mine! I've been tellin' ya for months haha.

Get smaller screws as well as thinner rubber, that way they'll be less likely to pull the guard down before they rip out, IF they ever manage to rip out again. Might wanna make them shorter this time too?

Nah, takes too long to wash! If i have a spare day then sure :)

Nope, going to use L brackets on new rubber a few inches behind the wheel, bolted to the bumper on the rear and bolted to the section just infront of the front door. So when i back up, the flap is able to sit flat against the car and not get caught under the tyre.
Id like stiff rubber but less stiff than what i have now, if its too thin, it will be deflected flat against the body defeating the purpose a bit!

Been a little remiss of me not to check the oil after the last change a couple of months (and 5k ks) or so back, and a little shocked to find Bessie needed a litre to come up to max again. Will be checking more frequently in future! Here's a trick though, grab a 2litre milk container and cut it down to make a non-spill filler. Couple of different brands but think they're all the same blow-mould. Thread does a good job of engaging the filler too.

Also inherited a bike rack which I stripped, wire-brushed and repainted. Been enjoying the local rail trails.

^ that can't be an ORS vehicle - the engine is too clean

^ ^ & ^.

I hose my engine bay down when I wash the car every 6 months or so, whether it needs it or not ... :rotfl: :lildevil:.

Jeez you guys are tough. Why I bought THIS car instead of the others I sampled was because it had been so well looked after. Don't see any reason to not maintain that standard.
And if you have a close look you'll see a bit of crud on the battery case - so there!

But to be honest, I've been a tarmac hero all my life. I so envy those with the skills to handle a vehicle in loose conditions. I intend to do something about that with some off-road excursions in the not too-distant future. Among others places, the Flinders Ranges beckons. Also thinking of a adding a DR650 into the 2-wheel fleet - dirt skills applied to slippery tarmac can extend a temporary Aussie's life span.

Don`t think mine has had a wash for a couple of years. Haven`t been anywhere to get it all that grotty though.
Installed a rear tower cross brace today. Hopefully stop that wheel arch crack from getting worse until I fix it properly.
Eventually but certainly before the next Simpson or Cape York trip.
Whenever that may be.

Recently replaced the old squeelly muffler for a pretty much new one. Sounds so much better in the higher revs.
Thanks for that Fazed:ebiggrin:

And I also fitted a proper CB radio. The 0.5W radios were good for close range communication, but were useless if I lose someone in the group or am trying to meet a group on a track. I didn't want to mount anything permanently so the radio just lives in the center console with a 12v plug and I came up with this for an antenna mount.

This way there's no sign of any mounting 95% of the time. And then when I do need it, it's just an easy clip onto the window. I wouldn't want to drive under any trees with that up there, but I hardly ever go near trees North of Perth, plus 6.5db wouldn't be good in trees anyway.
Thanks for that Twinklz:ebiggrin:

Good to hear that the exhaust worked out for you, Josh. It's a shame that it didn't bolt up to mine as that was a pretty decent find.

Good to see you've found a new muffler Red!
Good work on the CB too, I'm sure you're going to wonder why you didn't install one sooner!
Interesting idea for the antenna, only things I wonder is, if you were to get the antenna swiped by trees, could that mounting bracket actually damage your window?
And is the window able to seal with the bracket there? Wouldn't want dust coming in!

Yeah, funny that they changed the width of the centre pipe between the SG5 and SG9, everything else looks the same.

Probably. More of an excuse for me to avoid plants! And I won't keep it up there too much, as I'll keep using the handhelds as my primary one.
is the window able to seal with the bracket there?
Probably. It does seem to fit in nice and tightly in the rubber window seal. Hopefully the outdoors won't get in. But I won't know till we test it. Looks like we'll have to do a trip!

Come down this way! I know there's plenty of tracks down here that aren't scratchy, and the mud is almost dried up!

My last exam is Tuesday 18th of November. After that I'll be maximizing my camp/4wding trips and will be keen to see all the NON-scratchy tracks down your way. Sandier the better. Plus will be good to see yours going with the locker!

Sounds good! Most of the tracks down here you can avoid the scratches anyway, since the majority of traffic is a fair bit wider and taller than our vehicles!

I would like to do some southern tracks but the 15/16th weekend is the only one free this month.

Been spending some money. I got and fitted a new rear muffler so no more squealing for me. Got a set of GT forester rims, so now I can have alloy spares to match my currently fitted wheels and fitted a set of Thule roof racks after plasti dipping the cross bars black.
